It’s time again for The Week in Woke, my attempt to track the silliest things that right-wingers have declared “woke” on a weekly basis. Today we’ve got a pregnant man, some Major League sports, and a renegade … Fox News?
Welcome back to the Week in Woke, where we take a look at some of the (often quite unlikely) things that right-wingers are calling “woke.” This week, a you’ll notice, there’s a little bit of a military theme. Because what could be more woke than the military-industrial complex?
It’s time once again to look at what’s going on in the imaginary world of “woke,” in which I highlight some improbable things right-wingers have declared “woke” in the past week.
We’re back with more woke! Here are a few things that were denounced as “woke” by the anti-woke warriors this week.
One of the best ways to keep up with what’s going on with Fox News — without having to actually watch it — is to follow Media Matters, which has a small army of journalists paid to monitor Fox and write up analyses of the most egregious nonsense. This little army does us all another favor by tweeting little screenshots of some of the stranger moments on the channel.
When they’re not trying to catch Critical Race Theory and tackle it to the ground, reactionaries today like nothing more than attacking things as “woke.” What’s woke? The list changes every day, and so I’ve decided I need to track the new additions as they emerge in right-wing media and social media. I’ll be putting out these Week in Woke updates every, well, week, for at least as long as the right-wingers remain obsessed with the word.
Lego just announced that they will be releasing a new LGBTQ playset just in time for Pride Month, with gender-indeterminate characters in all the colors of the rainbow flag, including the pink, white and pale blue stripes representing trans people.
We return now to the ongoing culture war. This time we will take a close look at the alleged cancellation of Jane Austen for the crime of drinking tea.
Cereal giant Kellogg’s is teaming up with GLAAD to launch a new limited-edition LGBTQ-themed cereal called Together With Pride.
Really? Yes, really.
