We’re long overdue for an open thread, so he you all go. And, as a little bonus, here’s a classic underground cartoon from the 70s that I’ve been hearing about for decades but only recently saw for the first time, featuring a couple of weird-looking ducks and a robot going to a creepy amusement park. It’s pretty good.

Uh, what?

By David Futrelle

My earlier post today was so depressing I thought I’d post a thread to get everyone’s mind off of it. Celebrate V-Day or share your plans for the post-V-Day candy sales. Or just talk about whatever. No trolls!

Trump surrenders, Stone arrested: A rare slightly cheerful open thread

By David Futrelle

Today’s big news day began before sunrise, with FBI officers pounding on the door of Roger Stone’s home in Florida. And now Trump has surrendered on the shutdown, allowing the government to reopen, at least temporarily, without funding for the wall.

MLK day in Trump’s America: Open thread

By David Futrelle

It’s Martin Luther King Jr. day here in the US. Our racist president “honored” King today by making an exceedingly brief visit to the MLK Memorial, where he told reporters, with his usual eloquence, that

Hope you’re all enjoying today, whether you celebrate Christmas or you’re just having a Tuesday. Here’s an open thread, for celebrating the day (whatever it means or doesn’t mean to you), venting about Christmas weirdness involving relatives, making jokes about Trump, whatever you want.

It kind of feels like we’re entering the end game, huh? Mueller’s filings on Cohen and Manafort have dropped. And the Michael Cohen sentencing memo released by  the Southern District  of New York earlier today makes clear that Trump directed Cohen to commit a felony.

Dig in!

By David Futrelle

Happy Thanksgiving, if you’re doing that! Otherwise, enjoy your Thursday! I’m very thankful for everyone who reads and supports this blog, for my friends, for everyone who works to make this rough world a better place, for everyone who voted against the GOP in the election. And for cats, my own two lovely cats and cats in general. Dogs are cool too. And capybaras.
