Some days I just can’t, when if comes to the misogynists. So instead of one of my regular posts, here are a bunch of fantastic French singer ladies, mostly recording in the 1960s, starting with the amazing Brigitte Fontaine (whose later, less poppy stuff with the Art Ensemble of Chicago is also great).

Iran has responded to Trump’s assassination-by-drone of Qasem Soleimani with a barrage of ballistic missiles aimed at two US air bases in Iraq. So I guess Trump has gotten the war he wanted. Fuck.
A top Iranian military leader — Qassim Soleimani,
commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force — has been killed in an airstrike on Baghdad ordered by Donald Trump. Soleimani was an incredibly popular and powerful political figure; this is a political assassination that will inspire violent retaliation and could very well lead us into a full-scale war with Iran.
Take stock of this lousy year — and this not-so-great-decade — and/or look forward to the new year. Or talk about whatever. No trolls!

So hey, let’s go OFF TOPIC today and talk about our favorite songs from the last year! Here are some of mine (a couple of them technically came out on video in late 2018, but all were on albums released in 2019).
Today is the 30th anniversary of the École Polytechnique massacre in Montreal in which 14 women were murdered by a gunman driven by a hatred of feminism and feminists.
