Well, it’s labor day, at least here in the US, so while we all enjoy a day without labor in honor of labor, I thought I would offer this photographic tribute to our nation’s hard-working cats.

The video above — in which a highly agitated young fellow with poor camera technique defends his sartorial choice — got posted in the comments here yesterday, and frankly it was too good not to share.
Oh, SPOILER ALERT: The fedoraed gentleman is not for real. He’s a YouTube comedian of sorts who specializes in surreal, awkward and often disturbing videos in the vein of television’s Tim and Eric.
I especially liked this VIRAL KITTEN video he posted the other day, and not just because it contains a kitten.
This Blender Box Blog Race is pretty exciting as well.
An open thread for personal stuff, continuing from here.
As usual for these threads: no trolls, no arguments.
An open thread — well, a semi-open thread — for all of those needing a respite from the news. No trolls, no arguments, no discussion of depressing stuff. Adorable animal pics encouraged.
If you have personal stuff to discuss that is more serious, there’s a separate thread for that here.
Email me if someone misbehaves here.

Ok, so I kind of love Dolly Parton, and “Jolene” is probably my favorite song of hers, though I’ve never quite believed the story told in the lyrics, because how could any woman, even the mighty Jolene, steal a man from DOLLY FUCKING PARTON?
Anyway, it turns out if you play the 45 rpm single version of the song at 33 rpm it becomes … another song entirely. But, amazingly, it works. It’s actually sort of great. The video above isn’t new, but it’s new to me, and I can’t stop listening to it, so I thought I’d inflict it all on you.
Here’s Dolly singing the song at the correct speed.
Hey, everyone, just a quick update on the still-ongoing We Hunted the Mammoth banner contest (the details of which are here).
First, I want to thank all those who’ve contributed so far. Some great stuff!
Second, I want to announce that due to the generosity of some Man Boobz — soon to be We Hunted the Mammoth — readers, the contest now has a cash prize of $100.
Thanks very much for those who’ve donated, and if you want to add more to the prize, use the regular Man Boobz donation button, but include a note saying you want the money earmarked for the prize. (Also include a little codeword or phrase; I want to be transparent with this, so I will list the donations later according to these code phrases so you know your money went to the prize.)
Also, a question: I’m wondering what you folks think should happen if I want to use more than one of the designs? Split the prize money?
The contest will run through Sunday. So submit if you haven’t already!
Here are some of the submissions so far. Anyone is free to use the artwork in a banner design of their own (and if it wins you’ll split the prize with the artist).

Under the Weather
Ugh. Not feeling too well, so no post today. (Maybe a short one, later.)
Another open thread for personal stuff, continuing from here.
