The folks at the Men’s Rights hate site A Voice for Men like to make up their own rules about rape. The founder of the formerly-sort-of-influential site, one Paul Elam, once famously announced that he was so mad about the way rape trials are conducted that if he were to serve on a jury in such a trial he “vow[ed] publicly to vote not guilty, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that the charges are true.”

While most Americans fritter away their time worrying about trivial nonsense like the coronavirus and climate change and the ongoing threat the Trump administration poses to democracy in America, it’s good to know that Men’s Rights activists continue to confront the issues that really matter, like for example “how ridiculously easy women have it.”

As you may have noticed, Men’s Rights Activists aren’t really very, well, activist. Sure, they talk a lot online, but when it comes to organizing anything in the real world, they fail utterly. Indeed, the only real Men’s Rights protest I’ve seen in all my years running this blog drew fewer people than a ten percent off sale at the dollar store.

Men’s Rights “Activists” are the least activist activists I’ve ever met. Oh, they’re noisy enough, but for all the noise they make about the supposed injustices faced by men, they won’t lift a finger, or open their wallets, to do a single thing that might actually help real men in real pain.

Bettina Arndt has had quite a week, so far. On Sunday, the Aussie Men’s Rights Activist and sometime-pedophile-defender was inexplicably awarded one of Australia’s highest honors for her alleged “services to gender equity,” sparking a massive outcry from feminists and others actually committed to equality.
