As you might have noticed, this site has not been on its best behavior lately; there have been slowdowns, 504 errors, outages. Well, with the help of am internet maven who was very generous with her time and expertise, we’re now back on track. And on a shiny new server. So hopefully things will be running a bit more smoothly from here on out, though there may be a few glitches as we settle in on the new server. There are a few formatting things i need to fix as well.

Capy New Year! Open thread
Happy New Year’s!
Let’s hope the new year actually is at least a little bit happy this time!
I’m back! Or at least I will be as of tomorrow. I hope you all enjoyed your Christmases, if you’re into that sort of thing. Mine was low-key but pleasant.
Off for a few
Just a quick note: I’ll be away from the blog for a couple of days to deal with some family stuff. Should be back and posting on Monday.

Sorry for the recent lack of posts, but I’m on what I like to call a Migraine-cation. It’s sort of like a stay-cation in that one does not actually go anywhere, but in this case you don’t go anywhere and you also have a migraine.
I‘ve got a review up on NPR.com of Laura Bates’ new book Men Who Hate Women, an often disturbing deep dive into the worlds of incels, MGTOWs, Red Pillers and assorted other manosphere misogynists.
Robert Futrelle, RIP
My father passed away on Wednesday, some four months after the death of my mother.
Just wanted you all to know. I may be taking a few more days off from the blog.
