We Hunted the Mammoth is BACK

We Hunted the Mammoth is BACK from its hiatus. Only we’re looking a bit different, because now we’re a misogyny-busting YouTube channel instead of a blog. Yep, WHTM has awoken from uneasy dreams to find itself transformed in its bed into a gigantic insect. By which I mean a pretty butterfly rather than a dung beetle.

If you liked the original blog you can expect more of the same Mammothy goodness, as we take apart everyone from incels to dating coaches. Expect a little less of a focus on the denizens of the manosphere and a broader focus on the ways in which red pill misogyny and creepy transphobia have spread into wider cultural discussions on YouTube and elsewhere. Plus, now I can use weird filters and sound effects.

When I put the blog on hiatus, I really needed a break from tracking the manosphere–and from daily blogging. But it’s been more than a year, and now I’m itching to get back on the misogyny beat. And really looking forward to making videos, though it may take me a little while to get the hang of it. The more positive way to frame this is that my upcoming videos will be a lot better than the slightly awkward one I pasted in above. I’ll be putting up new videos roughly once a week, though my next one may go up sooner than that. I’ll be posting the videos here as well as on YouTube itself, and if you’re inclined to offer some comments you can do that here or on YouTube, whichever feels most comfortable for you. I miss you! Please let me know what you’ve been up to over the last year, or if you have any video ideas or requests for me. Or anything else you want to comment about.

Also, I have finally at long last done the maintenance that I needed to do on the blog archives, so all the thousands of old posts I’ve done over the year are available again.

So hello again, from the (entirely imaginary) WHTM doomsday bunker. This should be fun.

On the plus side: Harris picked Walz, rather than either of the two antiPalestinian candidates for veep. There may be some hope yet for salvaging the “republic, if you can keep it”.

On the minus side: the ongoing horror show in Gaza:

https://truthout.org/articles/top-israeli-official-morally-justified-to-starve-2-million-to-death-in-gaza/

“Nobody will let us cause 2 million civilians to die of hunger even though it might be justified,” Smotrich complained.

“Might be justified”??!!

If the set of people who should be locked up with the keys thrown away is non-empty, this Smotrich guy is in it. (Along with Trump.)

Meanwhile Trump’s latest media-attention-sucking babble is that Biden is big mad that “Kambala” betrayed him and stole his nomination with the help of the usual Deep State names like Obama, Hillary, and Pelosi, and he’s coming to take it back. If he had any marbles left to lose, he’s just lost the last of them.

It is really sad. Trump is now posting some fanfic wanting Biden back as his candidate opponent. Let it go.

Uh-oh! Harris has a creepy incel stalker:

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/8/6/2260919/-Vance-gives-women-the-ick-and-this-won-t-help

Everywhere Vice President Kamala Harris goes this week, GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance is following.

Meanwhile, we have another Olympic victory from an underrepresented country, Bahrain. Winifred Yavi won a footrace, and then was dancing joyously around the finish line for a while afterward. She looked kind of cute doing it, infectious cheer. I can’t seem to find video of it for some reason though.

(Shh, don’t tell Trump. I hear he gets very triggered by darker-skinned women laughing or otherwise showing joy!)

Something else for the cute file, his and hers gold medals: Canada in the hammer throw.

Less cute: Cori Bush was primaried by that big-money antiPalestinian group, along with another “squad” type Representative.

Another political vlogger has gone on hiatus: Beau of the Fifth Column, who’s been working himself visibly haggard under the pressure of all the past few months’ stuff—between his videos, the farm, and his charitable and activist doings—has been persuaded by his loved ones to take a break from the channel until further notice.

His wife (straightaway dubbed “Belle” by the fandom) has stepped into the commentator’s shed, and has swiftly nailed her own down-home commonsensical voice. (As an RN and a veteran, she, too, has Seen Some Shit.)

@Full Metal Ox:

…Beau of the Fifth Column…

Certainly have heard of him and seen a few videos, yes…

His wife (straightaway dubbed “Belle” by the fandom)

*facepalm* Because of course she was. Anybody with much knowledge of French would probably have jumped there right away, even if both those words hadn’t already mostly made it into English.

(For those who don’t get it, ‘beau’ and ‘belle’ are the male and female versions of the French adjective for ‘beautiful’.)

They’re currently eating Tate’s face. And Rittenhouse’s face.

First post, I am writing a chapter on incels and someone directed me here months ago. I have left this tab open for a long time, and now you’re back.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve done, and what you are up to now.

Well, it’s as I feared. It’s “back”, but moribund. 🙁

Hmmm, David said that he hoped to have a real first video up in 1 week, but it’s been 3. Either real life is kicking his posterior, or creating a full-length video is way harder than he expected. Or he’s too busy taking an impromptu vacation or screwing around with the filters or something. Normal bloggers would mention such things in the comments, but David never really did that, so…

It would be ironic if no further videos were produced and this post were the site’s gravestone. Wouldn’t be the first time if that does turn out to be the case; I’ve occasionally seen blogs old where the last entry, dated several years prior, says that it’s been awhile but they’re returning soon, or something to that effect.

It’s not a big deal for me, either way. I read a few dozen blogs and news sites at least occasionally, though only actually post on a handful of them; if any of the ones which I read frequently and/or post on disappears or goes on extended hiatus, then I just shift that focus onto another one. (I just counted up those particular bookmarks, currently there are 49 of them. Again, most of those are only occasional reads, as in maybe every few weeks.)

You’re back! I had given up hope of ever seeing the blog active again. I’ve never been so glad to be proven wrong.

Or a butterfly-winged Faerie Mammoth.
