And, of course, the judge in the Washington D.C. case (the one about the conspiracies leading to January 6th) has already stated that she has no intentions of scheduling the case around Trump’s wish to run for President again, that the court takes priority, and if Trump wants to publicly blab about evidence in advance of the case, they can start the case even earlier…
From what I’ve seen, of all the cases, the Washington D.C. case is probably the most dangerous one for Trump in the short term. It is very focused, cites a lot of the receipts it brings (and almost certainly has more in reserve which could be used for cases against the co-conspirators), and I think is the case in the best position to complete before the election no matter what delaying attempts get thrown at it. It has also been causing a lot of backstabbing amongst Trump’s inner circle as the ‘unnamed co-conspirators’ try to throw each other under the bus, and Trump tries to figure out who’s most likely to cave and potentially turn state’s evidence.
Trump will appeal anything that goes against him, of course, and that will likely go to the Supreme Court… and I have no idea how that will go. There’s a conservative majority, of course, Thomas and Alito have never shown any qualms about digging deep into the law to find anything they can quote to make their paymasters happy, and Barrett is a ‘True Believer’. But I think even some of the conservative side of things will still balk at essentially legalizing a coup attempt.
I expect that privately, a lot of the old-money conservatives want Trump to go down in flames anyway. He may have been a useful idiot, but at times he was far more ‘idiot’ than ‘useful’, and now that they have the conservative majority on the Court that they wanted (along with rulings that could be used to gut the EPA and any other government agency trying to regulate things that weren’t laid out in the constitution), someone more controllable is probably useful.

So I got an update on my mom for you guys
First. I did get her to take a bath. She’s all skin and bones now. But she was able to do most of it herself. Just needed help getting into and out of the tub. That bath was gross after wards though. All the dead skin came off. It was like when a snake sheds it skin
She had an appointment with her primary care doctor. This was the first one in a while. She now weighs 93 pounds so even less which is not good. But there is good news. Dr. K took one look at her and was so appalled by the state she’s in. Apparently my mother’s pulmonologist is evil and is going to burn in hell for the rest of eternity. Because he hasn’t been doing his job. He’s been medically neglecting my mother and hasn’t even seen her in person for over a year. He’s pawned her off onto his nurse. He basically told us all that she’s dying and there’s nothing he can do. Dr k says that’s not true. It’s true my mother’s condition can’t be cured but she shouldn’t be as in bad as shape as she is. The reason she’s lost so much weight was because her lungs were using ever bit of energy her body has to just keep her breathing.
Dr k has taken back control of my mother’s care and has reported the pulmonologist for malpractice.
We need to get my mother’s weight back up and strength up, but Dr k doesn’t think this should be her last year of life. We could have 10 years more with my mother. She also put my mother back on a medication that did help her a lot but the pulmonologist took her off it and put her on an experimental drug. It’s only been like 4 days on the old medication and my mother is already feeling better. It’s easier for her to breath, sleep, and she’s slowly getting an appetite back.
I don’t want to get my hopes up, but it feels like God has answered my prayers and that she is going to be okay. She’s also promised me she’s going to try harder with bathing. We’re shooting for at the very least once a week. But she does want to try for 3 times a week. Because the bath made her feel so much better
I also got her the shower chair that was suggested last time I asked for advice. She loves it.
Thank you all for listening to me and giving my advice for her.

@Elaine that is wonderful news! Thank you so much for telling us. I hope your mother continues to get a lot more comfortable, thanks to the new mangement of her medical care and everything that you are doing.
Lots of best wishes to you, and I hope you’re getting plenty of love and support too.

Have you considered installing one of those door things where part of one side of the tub wall can lower and raise? If the only bit she needed help with was getting in and out, one of those would enable her to do it with complete independence again.

That’s excellent news! You’ve been a great advocate for your mother. Dr. K. sounds like our own PCP – having a good primary care doc can be, literally, a lifesaver.

Bestest thing I saw was Rachel Maddow talking to Hillary Clinton.
Hillary must be swimming in schadenfreude and I TOLD YOU SO.
Also, this one is all state charges, which means he couldn’t pardon himself.

In further good news, since the donors, Fox, and GQP aren’t willing to buy up his books in bulk, li’l Tuck-tuck’s book isn’t selling:

If you’re still hanging around, the following message is intended for your mom’s erstwhile pulmonologist:
Update: some bad, bad, funny, bad person has been monkeying with the Patriot Legal Defense Fund donation website:

@FMOx: That bad person sure knows their grade-school civics.

@FMOx: That bad person sure knows their grade-school civics.
And you can just sense the weary exasperation underlying their choice of Sesame Street tone and vocabulary.
@FMOx: To be blunt and rude about it, they’re phrasing it at a level the intended audience can grasp if they weren’t lost in their own world.
Elmo says Real democracy is good! Elmo thinks everyone’s vote should count!
Count: Count? One voter, ah-ha-ha, two voters…
Oscar: Hey, I found some classified papers in my garbage can!
It’s so frustrating when judges set bail conditions that are impossible to comply with…
So, anyone want to lay odds on how soon he violates those conditions? And on which of the following happen:
In case we need more music for the impeachment dance party.
@Vicky P: Randy is always good.
@Alan: And we’re all hoping the judge will strictly enforce those conditions, aren’t we?
We’ve only got 99 pages more to live up to the title.
