Human carbuncle Andrew Tate and his brother, along with two associates, have been charged by Romanian authorities with multiple counts of human trafficking; one of the four (likely Andrew) has also been charged with two counts of rape. The brothers and their associates are accused of operating a human trafficking ring that used “violence and mental coercion” to force seven women to participate in pornography.
For more about the charges, check out Vanity Fair; for background on Tate, including his long history of misogyny, check out this article in TheCut.
There is no public figure so reprehensible he doesn’t have defenders, and Tate seems to have hung on to most of his, despite his arrest and the charges of human trafficking. After news of the charges broke, some took to Twitter to offer their defenses. This included several well-known figures on the right.
Others loudly proclaimed his alleged innocence.
Still others nattered on about the evil powers of “the matrix.”
“Feline nature,” you say?
If the kitties of the world are helping to bring Andrew Tate down, I am fully on board.
There were some more sensible tweets about Tate’s charges.
I can only say that Tate looks guilty as sin to me, and I hope he rots in a Romanian prison.
Too bad he didn’t go on a submarine tour.
I hope Taint and the tatertots rot in prison.
@milotha: Amen to that. In the worst Romanian prison possible, which is still better housing than they deserve.
Also, anyone who says cats are passive-aggressive hasn’t lived with a variety of kitties. Nothing passive about my childhood cat or the current one, or all but one of them who’ve owned me in the past 50+ years. I’ve spent a notable percentage of my life bleeding from the hands, arms, legs… and the MEOWS!
Also, I want a big legal sanction slapped against that loser catturd for daring to use a photo of Shironeko as his avatar. Shiro was a very excellent kitty, got along with people and other cats, was endlessly mellow, and raised several other kittens/cats in his life. AND he had a beautiful steady girlfriend. He lived on a farm and supervised all the chores, loved his (human) grandma, and commenting on his web page improved my Japanese greatly. I miss the big guy.
Lol, “speaking to power”? The “matrix”? Of course they’re making it a global conspiracy. The one about the “false declarations of love” is so exasperatingly obtuse. It’s like if I flirted with a guy to lure him to a motel to steal his organs, and the defense was “maybe she just wasn’t that into you bro”
“The Matrix” sounds like someone making a parody of conspiracy theorists but of course it is just him trying to expand “The Red Pill” into a full conspiracy theory. The word “theory” is misleading since they usually don’t need a logically consistent theory to support their beliefs or attitudes.
Still there are some core beliefs and probably the most important one is that women are programmed by evolution to seek out “Alpha Males” (AKA “Chad”). The same aggressive personality that is supposedly attractive to women is conveniently also the same kind of person who has a chance of fighting “The Matrix” and also all those evil foreigners and Jews probably. Mostly it is men who internalized a twisted version of traditional masculinity and refuse to question, but I think the reason traditional masculinity is that way is the long history of certain societies seeking power over others. You need a certain personality to justify and support oppression, control, dominance, and war. Unfortunately those who are dominant tend to have a lot more influence over culture.
Regardless of the origin it certainly seems like men are obsessing with a certain image of powerful men more than before. Maybe it is just because the role of traditional breadwinner is now more difficult to achieve so they look towards the “Bad Boy” archetype, or maybe feminism in general has somehow stripped away the nuance of masculinity without damaging its overall importance, or hopefully it is just the people at the center of the backlash who genuinely think women want Andrew Tate.
It bothers me that so many internet memes have come to use images of muscular men to mean “good” and less muscular men to mean “bad”. Suppose it is meant ironically, but memes use certain images and videos to mean certain things, essentially it is a new pictographic language, and *picture of muscular dude with strong jaw* is how the poster communicates that he likes the thing.
@Jess:
It’s rare that I LOL in the non-figurative sense at something online anymore, but this did it.
The Tatertots are now in the “finding out” phase of their lives.
Absolutely ludicrous that you pretend not to know that looking angry is Andrew Tate’s preferred look. You should instead complain that BBC News makes him look balding, which he totally is. He probably doesn’t prefer that look. Don’t be sad: They made Hunter Biden look balding too.
@Kat
Right? He looks angry in ALL of his pictures. It’s his default face.
Resting bastard face?
This is the prosecution file that’s now been given to the judge. Can see why he gets 60 days to read them.
The prosecution lawyer will also have to read into the case.
The way it works in Romania is that there’s a lawyer who conducts the investigation; then that’s handed over to another one to do the trial.
(That’s not unsimilar to how we do it here)
I don’t believe he “needs” to rape anyone. I don’t believe anyone needs to rape someone else, including men who are unable to find consensual sex partners. Rape is never a need.
I believe Andrew Tate has chosen to rape several women because he is a violent misogynist who feels entitled to women’s bodies. He doesn’t need to rape anyone. He wants to.
Loved Wild Geerters’ piss-take!
I have this brings an end to the red pill, blue pill fanboy immaturity of the Tate stans
Is “The Matrix” just the latest code word for “The Jews”?
I find Madeline’s idea about the protectors of humanity particularly interesting. Apparently to protect people like her from the fear of social change happening and the vague apocalyptic threat that poses, we need to let rapists rape.
At least several are making very clear that they really do want a two-tiered justice system.
@Jess: LOL-worthy indeed.
Wasn’t the guy who fought the Matrix a pretty boy not overburdened with muscles, but with plenty of hair? And his tough-ass lady friend?
@Kat: I’ve never seen a picture of him where he didn’t look angry, even the ones where he’s bragging about his great life. He has Resting Asshole Face. When he was first arrested, I said here I really wanted to see him when he couldn’t shave his head and we’d all be able to see his true hairline. If only my other wishes could come true so easily.
(No shame towards male pattern baldness — my husband’s receding hairline hooked up with his bald spot ages ago. But he’s not a toxic waste of protoplasm. Also I have RBF, and I just came across a photo of my great-grandfather. Yup. Also where the ears and nose come from. But he was an Ozarks hillbilly, so beauty wasn’t a problem.)
And that’s NOT a “cool” picture of Hunter. Whose crime was not filing his taxes properly, hardly the same as rape and kidnapping and more rape.
@Alan: That is literally a heap of documents.
@Zalix: I still find it hi-larious that these gender binary essentialists use a metaphor invented by two trans women.
The Matrix is a trans narrative by trans women, and these weirdos keep trying to take it.
What the fuck kind of truth are any of them speaking? If you actually ask one of these people to point to one grain of truth these assholes have spoken, they almost always change the subject, or attack whoever’s asking, or claim no one has the right to question the integrity of any of these assholes.
@Viscaria:
Absolute truth. Also, I think he’s the kind of guy who likes forcing. I really get the feeling he enjoys it more when it isn’t consensual. He likes dominating and hurting people, that seems to be fun for him.
@Alan Robertshaw; @GSS ex-noob:
That is literally a heap of documents.
Agent Orange’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been a reliable vandalism target, and the troll community has not disappointed:

@ FMO
I love stuff like that. I’m a big fan of both conceptual art and public art. Especially guerrilla art.
I managed to get hold of the font the Tate galleries use. I was tempted to make some fake signs and stick them up. But I thought that was a bit unkind as I really like the Tate people. But when I mentioned that to them they just said “Do one for the bins!”.
You’ve reminded me though. I keep meaning to do a video about this.
It’s possibly one of the most misunderstood examples of public art.
It’s actually the Bull that’s guerrilla art. It was placed there without permission and Wall Street keep wanting to move it.
But ‘Fearless Girl’ is actually a paid-for advert for a hedge fund.

The answer is either “yes” or “not yet”.
Just found out one of my US lawyer friends has a cat called Purralegal. Heh.
@Alan
I seriously don’t envy the poor people who have to read through all of that…
The kitty, however, is adorable!
@Alan: I would ask Purralegal’s advice on many things. Handsome kitty.
