It’s the most wonderful tiiiiime of the year!!!

Seriously, I had SUCH A DAY, where I couldn’t find the things I wanted to buy in several stores, but came home to read this.

Now let’s get crackin’ on the trial ASAP. I want this fucker behind bars before the election.

First Pat Robertson died, and now Trump is indicted. A good day for America. Let’s hope they continue.

James Watt, Reagan’s anti-environmentalist Secretary of the Interior, also just came down with a bad case of the deads. I mean, not a lot of people remember him anymore, but he was rather behated by liberals in the 1980s. Would’ve been better if it was Kissinger, but it’s something.

@Snowberry:

James Watt, Reagan’s anti-environmentalist Secretary of the Interior, also just came down with a bad case of the deads.

Wait, what? Reagan was a necromancer and he raised the inventor of the steam engine from the dead to give him a cabinet post?! And it took over forty years for the spell to wear off, to the point that the zombie ended up outliving Reagan by almost twenty?

How bizarre.

@milotha,

And, of course, using this as an opportunity to grift his followers for donations. He started in on that with his very next post.

We won’t know for sure until Tuesday at the earliest; but have it on pretty good authority that this is the indictment.

1. Wilful retention of NDI (Espionage Act)
2. Conspiracy to obstruct justice
3. Withholding a document or record
4. Corruptly concealing a document or record
5. Concealing a document in a federal investigation
6. Scheme to conceal
7. False statements and representations

That 2nd count is interesting. Wonder who the co-conspirators are.

And apparently two of the more experienced members of Trump’s legal team have left? Or been pushed out? Has anybody else heard anything about that?

ETA: The attorneys in question are James Trusty, a former federal prosecutor, and John Rowley.

ETA 2: They both resigned effective immediately. That seems significant.

We have the indictment now.

https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/23839628/trump-indictment.pdf

The co-conspirator is someone named Waltine Nauta; a PA.

As for the lawyer resignations, the speculation is:

It’s just a fees thing.

He’s annoyed they didn’t stop the indictment being laid.

They recommended a plea deal and he saw that as them giving up.

Most people are going with option 1.

https://www.alternet.org/trump-indictment-most-shocking-revelations/

Documents included details of the defense and weapons capabilities of US and foreign governments, US nuclear programs, and potential vulnerabilities to military attack for the US and its allies.

Trump stored his boxes containing classified documents in a ballroom, a bathroom and shower, an office space, his bedroom, and a storage room.

But Hunter’s laptop …

Some of those boxes were stored from January to March 2021 on a stage in the club’s White and Gold Ballroom, which hosted events and gatherings during that period and were photographed, possibly by a guest.

Mar-a-Lago hosted more than 50 events, including weddings, film premiers and fundraisers, that drew tens of thousands of guests during the period the documents were stored in Trump’s offices or other areas near public spaces.

But her emails …

@ FMO

Their purpose from the beginning has been to find me guilty, regardless of the facts. This is the very definition of a kangaroo court.

Yeah, blooming Privileges and Standards Committee. Packed to the gills with lefties…

ETA:

The committee themselves don’t actually impose any sanctions. All they did is produce a report on Bojo’s conduct. That report then goes to parliament and the MPs decide what to do on the back of it.

Bojo got sent a copy in advance.

Presumably there’s something in there that he knows MPs will have to vote for a suspension in excess of 20 days. That gives his constituents the opportunity to vote for a recall.

So he’s jumped before being pushed.

(I actually think he’d survive such a vote, but I can see why he doesn’t want to risk it)

So, who is next through the PMO’s revolving door? (Brit politics these days is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Here comes the next jackknifing car to join the pileup…)

One of the *chef kiss* anecdotes is that Cheeto Benito pushed Congress to change the law on some of his offenses from misdemeanor to felony because of Hillary’s emails.
Petard hoisting, much?

As an Old, am pleased about Watt going away too. A friend said they didn’t think he was still alive because he seemed in his 60s when he was appointed, not his 40s. He objected vociferously to the radical hard rock music of the Beach Boys, which even my extremely Republican parents thought was stupid.

Oh, and because Cracker Barrel decided to put out some merch with rainbows on it, now the regressives have sworn to get their fatty salty carbs somewhere else.

My feeling the past couple of days is:

Older people tend to be more conservative on average, so you can imagine how conservative someone would get at 400. He probably objected vociferously to electricity and the internal combustion engine, too. 🙂

Quite off the indictment topic but may be an article worth following up on:

https://kotaku.com/half-gamers-women-switch-ps5-xbox-pc-owners-girls-stats-1850524629

The URL text doesn’t make it clear that the article is about how many gamer guys are freaking out over this.

@Nequam: I think the article writer figured everyone knows how fragile and angry gamer boys are, just from waves at the past decades

The person I know best who loves their Switch is a woman in her 70s. I’m the one who researched and bought our game consoles over the decades from Atari 2600 to Wii, bought all the computer games, and spent more time in arcades than the Mr. AND I used to comment regularly at Kotaku when you had to “audition” to get an account!

(Alas, my arthritis precludes much gaming now, but we still have the Wii.)

Meanwhile, Hillary tweeted a pic of herself wearing a blue baseball cap with the words BUT HER EMAILS on it, smiling broadly (They’re from a liberal charity).

Nequam:

Heck, I just bought a PS4 this Spring. The only reason I didn’t buy a 5 was because it was a little too far out of my price range.I’ve played Goose Game, Journey, and some weird game (?) where you just ride around on a creature that makes art! I’ve never owned a Gaming Console in my life. I Only played games on other people’s consoles. I’m considering opening a Steam account, but I’m not interest3 on playing with others.

Does this mean there are all female teams on some games? Can they do that? I’d play one of those?
