Hey fellas, is it gay to watch straight porn? One incel says “yes”

It’s pledge drive week here on WHTM. The survival of this blog depends on people like you! So please donate what you can!

Incels have something of a love-hate relationship with porn. They love it, because they think it’s the closest they’ll ever get to having sex. And they hate it … because they think it’s the closest they’ll ever get to having sex.

So naturally, they have theories about porn. Some think it’s all a plot to “cuck” porn-watchers, to turn them into spectators watching Chads have sex with the Stacies they’ll never have sex with themselves. Others think it’s a plot to turn porn fans into degenerates by exposing them to weird fetishes.

And still others think that porn–straight porn, featuring men having sex with women–is part of a Jewish plot to turn men gay, or at least bisexual, by exposing them to a lot of dicks.

“To me regular ‘straight’ [p]orn is bisexual porn,” said one prolific Incels.is commenter called Waco in a recent thread. “i might be going schizo on this but i think this is a plot by (((them))) to turn millions of men gay.”

In a more recent Incels.is thread, a commenter called Mortis offered what he saw as scientific proof that porn turns straight men into bisexuals. His primary evidence? A four-year-old survey undertaken by porn site xHamster that found “a direct correlation between the amount of time a person spends watching porn, and whether or not they identified as bisexual.” Indeed, as Alex Hawkins of xHamster noted in a blog post introducing the survey results, “Porn fans who watched multiple times a day were more than twice as likely to identify as bisexual as porn fans who watched only once a week (27% vs 13%).”

Of course, as Hawkins himself pointed out, correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation. But Mortis ignored this caveat, arguing that

two things usually happen to the person who watches porn regularly

1) That person experiences pleasant feelings: The chemicals released while watching porn usually results in pleasant feelings. See how harmful is Porn addiction
2) That person sees naked images of both sexes: The person who watches porn usually comes across naked images of both sexes

And if you’re regularly feeling pleasant while looking at guys with huge porn dicks fucking women, maybe you’ll get to the point where you don’t need any women involved to feel pleasant. Hey presto! You’re at least bi.

Some of the commenters explained that this could never happen to them because they refuse to watch porn with dicks in it.

“Watching porn with dicks “héterosexual” porn is kinda gay since your vision is exposed to seeing dicks of other men,” wrote Med Amine, “maybe watching lesbian porn is way better or just girls jerking them selves off.”

“Never cared for man on woman porn,” agreed WiZardThEgRaY. “Only preferred solo softcore J-girl nude posing videos, no dicks, no tats, no bitchy scowling western faces etc.”

But this wasn’t enough for some incels, including someone called Robb97, who asserted that

watching women alone will make you into a submissive little cuck …

If you do that, then your brain has an unhealthy obsession with female pleasure. Something that should come as a by product of sex. But if someone watches a lot of female solo or lesbian porn, their brain makes his own sexual pleasure dependent on that of the woman. Which is very cucked if you think about it.

Yeah, thinking about a woman’s pleasure, what a total turnoff. No wonder these guys are incels.

[T]heir brain makes his own sexual pleasure dependent on that of the woman.

Which is super scary for incels, because for them harming women is how they get off.

Is it possible — possible, I say — that people comfortable enough with their own sexuality to identify themselves as bisexual are also comfortable enough with their own sexuality to masturbate more often? And to not stigmatize porn?

And if they don’t stigmatize porn, they aren’t more likely to LIKE it, but they are less likely to consciously avoid it.

Masturbating more often + avoiding less often = viewing porn more often.

On top of all that, there are people that are very low sex drive, even some that are asexual, that never really reject the heterosexual label. They’re raised in culture where heterosexual is the default, only deviated from if you have strong enough attractions to persons of your own sex or to trans or intersex persons. Since they don’t have those strong attractions, it’s inevitable that some percentage will simply use “heterosexual” to mean that they don’t have queer desire, even though it would be closer to accurate to say that they don’t have much (or any) desire at all.

If low sex drive people are disproportionately assigned to the heterosexual category, that would be another confound. Maybe it wouldn’t account for much of the discrepancy, but it might account for some.

And in the opposite direction, high sex drive people are more motivated to try new things if they bring the opportunity to do the sex thing. There may be some % of people who don’t have a lot of queer desire until they try queer sex and find they like it. They simply focussed their desire in a particular direction because they were taught to do so, not because that was the only attractive direction to focus. But then after they learned that this is a possibility, they might be more likely to identify as bisexual.

Thus high sex drive people might be more likely to do the exploration of their own sexuality sufficient to discover a bisexual capacity that they didn’t originally know that they had. This is a further confound.

I’m not denying that it’s possible that looking at hot cocks having fun might make you think it would be fun to engage with a hot cock. There could be a causal relationship there. But these idiots are too full of their own prejudices and biases to reason their way out of a paper bag, much less distinguish correlation from causation.

So, if watching straight porn makes men gay, and watching lesbian porn makes men gay, does that mean watching gay porn makes men straight? I mean, in theory no, because it contains penises, and both penises and lack of penises causes gayness… but on the other hand incels are contrary about everything regardless of how little sense it makes even in the context of their own weird rules, so who knows really. /s

I have as little experience with this as I do interest, but it has long been my contention that watching that stuff isn’t watching some gal getting … ahhhhh, laid(?), it’s watching some guy ~ or two or three guys ~ get their noodles waxed, and that’s not ‘straight’ …

I’m starting to feel there’s no way anyone can be straight if so many things turn one gay.

@ Crip Dyke

On top of all that, there are people that are very low sex drive, even some that are asexual, that never really reject the heterosexual label. They’re raised in culture where heterosexual is the default —

I remember reading some internet discussion where some heteroromantic asexuals felt that “heteroromantic” was a mouthful and meant that one usually had to provide an explanation for the label, and so opted to casually call themselves straight. I assume most would expect that to mean heterosexual, so that would be an addition to the muddy waters (though I expect in any survey-type of situation they’d have called themselves asexual).

I refuse anyone watches porn that has a woman in it for the man that’s standing next to her. But I also lean very heavily into attraction for women

@Masse_Mysteria: I KNOW! How is it that the vast majority of people still manage to be straight?! And a lot of them with no desire for anything other than the average sexing positions, not involving any props.

It’s almost as if people know their sexual preferences from an early age.

I’m probably Kinsey 1 (I’ve got 30 minutes to live, and someone like Brad Pitt or Chris Hemsworth is willing and able), but all I can say is, suppose the theory is correct and watching straight porn will turn me bisexual (I don’t see how it will turn me gay, their logic is flawed there). So what? How would it be a terrible thing for me to find both genders sexually attractive instead of just one?

Hey fellas, is it gay to find silly-assed excuses to call other people gay? One non-incel says “Not necessarily, but it’s stoopid as all get out, and probably suggests you’re insecure about something.” Hope that didn’t sound too gay for y’all, but that’s my answer and I’m stickin’ to it!

So, if watching straight porn makes men gay, and watching lesbian porn makes men gay, does that mean watching gay porn makes men straight?

In all three cases, maybe, if it’s really bad porn and/or the actors are really ugly.

You can laugh all you want, but that’s how they get you – historically, pornographic materials were tightly regulated because traditional societies understand that, in order to maintain the normal heterosexual order, we can’t let people get too infected and stray off the narrow path. Very rarely do they ever just come right out and gay you up, they get you progressively more comfortable with seeing men in a sexual light (or proximal to one) that you eventually become comfortable thinking about men as sex objects.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: every time you think incels have reached the peak of absurdity, they up the ante.

There was a comedian here in the 70s or 80s. Can’t remember which one. But he used to describe himself as:

“I’m not gay; I just help them out when they’re busy.”

What if women watch gay male porn? What does that do to their sexuality? Does it make them double-straight? Really into peen?

I used to know a young woman who lived near me who claimed to be utterly, utterly shocked and grossed out by the whole idea of gay porn (still living with her religious family). Said she’d never seen/read it, would never do.

Less than a year later, she’d moved to West Hollywood and was always in the bars. So we know what her real attitude was while she was professing the shock.

This was ~35 years ago, and she may be there still for all I know.

I’ve seen a Great British Bakeoff clip where Matt Lucas says he’s a homosexual, then amends that he helps them out at weekends. Maybe that was a reference?

I do actually remember in Savage Love him saying he gets lots of emails from straight men who are attracted to only women but want to give a blowjob.

Now maybe they are bi. But I do wonder if maybe straight porn DID influence them since straight porn is 90% closeups on penises. And straight men seem to LOVE penises, always taking pictures of them and sending them to everyone. esp to people who don’t want to see them.

As the documents were recovered in Mar a Lago, he can insist on any case being tried in Florida with a local jury.

Wonder how that would play out politically?

Meanwhile, the harassment continues. I woke up today to no water and no internet, and it took several tens of minutes wrangling on the phone with both Bell (twice) and the city operations department to get them restored. Both performed poorly for a while after, with very low water pressure for an hour or so and slow internet.

There can be little doubt that something changed for the worse a few weeks ago. Prior to that, both the water and the internet here had been running smoothly for years without interruption. Obviously someone changed something about a month ago, and now both are enormously less reliable, and every few days one or both will waste hours of my time struggling to get it back to normal when I could have been spending that time doing something productive.

I want to know why this is happening, who is responsible, and how to get both utilities back to working the way they were until a month ago. How do I go about doing something like this? I don’t know how to even get the information I need. And I am tired of constantly having to deal with crap like this alone, without anyone in my corner. Tell me what I did yesterday to deserve to wake up to missing essential services today, tell me what I should have done differently yesterday to not end up with roughly three hours of my time wasted today just cleaning up after someone else’s messes before I could get on with making any of my own. Make your case. Convince me that I did something wrong, zigged when I should have zagged, whatever. And if you cannot, then I want someone to admit that I am being treated unfairly, and that whoever is causing this is in the wrong.

Frankly, I don’t know how much more of being abused and neglected I can take before I decide “the hell with it” and exit stage left. Would anyone even shed a tear? The general impression I get from most people is that they’d rather I didn’t exist, or at least that I was someplace else. I don’t think I’m even a person to most people, just some annoying nuisance that keeps getting in their way or making inconvenient demands for things like housing I can afford, decently fresh food that won’t pass its use-by date before I can even walk all the way home with it, and working internet, water, and power.

Thing is, much as I don’t enjoy sticking around and enduring seemingly endless rounds of gratuitous abuse from them, I really don’t want to grant such assholes their fondest wish, either …

So capitalism has fucked you over again. Join about 8 billion other people.

And stop being so fucking entitled. If you can whine at us for hours every day, you’ve got time to be on hold with utility companies like the rest of us manage to do when ours go bad.

I had no power or heat at all for 2 1/2 days during a cold spell recently. (I didn’t think it was that important, just annoying AF), even though the next street over did. Just our block was out, everyone else in the neighborhood was only out for 4 hours. I bitched about it with the neighbors, we bitched at the power company and lo and behold they supposedly have fixed it. Probably not, but I know better than to take it personally. Meanwhile, I read a lot and wore several layers. If you weren’t so hateful, you’d find out that your neighbors are having exactly the same problems, being in the same building.

Stuff I normally get in 2 different stores wasn’t there today, and despite the email I got, my really super-important can’t-miss-a-day prescription won’t be ready till tomorrow. Supply chains. I’m not looking forward to going out again tomorrow, but being a mature adult who’s got my inner child under control and isn’t paranoid with delusions of importance, I bought myself some extremely cheap snacks (2/$1) as consolation, which I will eat before they hit their rapidly-approaching expiration date.

There’s not a fucking thing we can do about any of it except to tell you AGAIN to get over yourself and get off your lazy ass and call all the complaint/help numbers that exist. Try not to be so fucking abusive to them — is that why you don’t call, or is it because you’re too damn lazy and whiny to do anything to help yourself? It’s not like you live in sub-Saharan Africa or even Ukraine; Canada still tries to help people, but they can’t divine via ESP what’s wrong and mystically bow to your every speshul snowflake want and your hurt fee-fees. You’re not important enough for them to notice; nobody else here is, either.

I’ll tell you what you’re doing wrong: you’re a fucking entitled paranoid whiner who won’t even reach out for free help because you so enjoy your completely false sense of persecution and have a serious case of Main Character Syndrome.

You sound more like a motherfucking* incel or MAGAt every day. In every way.

In the immortal words of Cher: SNAP OUT OF IT!

Seriously, everyone reading these words has a toll-free number where they can access mental health help and one that can point you to resources. With lists of places to get free or reduced help and food. I had no idea till I needed them and the county helpline mailed them to my door.

—————

Meanwhile, us people who are still in touch with consensus reality are just all thrilled about today’s Cheetolini indictment, and that we’re still above ground. We’re poor and in constant pain and people we love are dying before our eyes, but we know this is the human condition and we muddle on and even find ways to be happy that don’t cost anything. The Universe doesn’t do anything for personal reasons; it’s a bunch of empty space with radiation, stars, and planets, and Shit Happens to humans.

Also we are learning about copyright law from Alan and discussing the niceties of various Spider-Men. With occasional capybaras and music.

*pretend I said that as cool as Samuel L. Jackson does.

get off your lazy ass and call all the complaint/help numbers that exist

If you’d bothered to actually read my post, you’d know that I did, and that it took two calls to Bell before they properly fixed the internet connection.

What I very much doubt was fixed was the root cause for the decreased reliability of my utilities these past few weeks. I want to know how to get that put back the way it was a month or so ago. And I have no idea. I do know that if that isn’t addressed, then a few days from now my water will quit on me again, or my internet connection will, or both. Because that’s already happened a couple of times during these past few weeks.

As for my entitlement, you’re damn right I feel entitled to reliable basic utilities without which we’d all be living in pre-modern squalor. In fact I think there’s something in the law about this. Let me see …

https://www.legalline.ca/legal-answers/what-is-an-essential-service/

Other essential services include:

  • energy and utilities
  • water
  • information and telecommunications

While that probably doesn’t give me a legal right to never have any outages, I am pretty sure they aren’t allowed to downgrade the reliability of those services.

That means that the decrease in reliability that occurred a few weeks ago is a violation of my rights and someone somewhere is obligated to fix it. Not just get it working again every few days but put it back to a condition in which it will stay working for months, or even years, at a time like it did before.

As things stand, instead of being able to ignore both of these utilities and trust that they’ll “just work”, something was changed, without my permission, and now I have to phone them and cajole them into reconnecting things every few days. I’m being expected to do a bunch of extra work just to get the services I was already getting before, and that is clearly wrong. And it looks likely that it is legally wrong, not just morally wrong.

So why are you siding with the giant blood-sucking corporations against the little guy who’s being gratuitously mistreated by them?
