Men’s Rights activists are getting psyched up about artificial wombs again, hoping they will render feminism obsolete

Men! Grow your own baby in a tube to fight misandry

Artificial wombs are in the news again, not because they’re an actual thing for humans but because some guy made a video suggesting that soon they will be. Filmmaker and biotechnologist Hashem Al-Ghaili has put together a CGI-heavy fake ad for an imaginary “birthing facility” in which 30,000 fetuses could be simultaneously gestated in spiffy plastic pods.

Though even Al-Ghaili admits we’re at least a decade away from practical baby factories, some on the right are already sounding the alarm. “Artificial Wombs Will Destroy Our Humanity,” blares a headline in the Daily Caller, though the article never quite explains how. LifeSite, meanwhile, muses darkly on the evils of “the playing of God” and asks its readers to “pray that this dystopian craziness never materializes.”

But Reddit’s Men’s Rights activists are feeling much better about the prospect of babies-from-a-bag, largely because they think it will decrease the power of Big Womb. “Breaking up a monopoly is always a positive development,” declares Men’s Rights Redditor ElisaSKy.

“Yup,” adds Forcetobereckonedwit.

100s of thousands of men will stop simping and stop putting up with their bullshit. Women will actually have to be nice, friendly, helpful, caring… y’know like they used to be before “feminism”.

Fearless-File-3625, for his part, is psyched that “women won’t be able to commit paternity fraud then lol.”

Pappo4ever gloats that

when civilization perfects this and the robot sex doll, women are in BIG trouble.

But the womb-holders are likely to object; various commenters agree. While the artificial womb will be “a good thing for single men,” writes commenter EatM3L053R,

at it’s core it will reveal a more painful truth that women will not want to confront. It will show them that men do not need women as much as they falsely perceive. You’ll see just how ugly this will be politicized, to limit Men’s reproductive rights; anything that takes power away from women without them receiving critical attention from Daddy Government will be a threat to their existence.

Maxwell1138 thinks that feminists all believe that

its okay for them to develop reproduction without sperm, but its against nature to develop reproduction without a woman’s body. Its actually a religion, the sacred feminine. And its even worse than you imagine it is.

I don’t know, dudes. Most women I know would be glad to have the option of having a child without having to go through pregnancy. Not that this would occur to any MRA; in their minds, pregnancy is a privilege, a source of power for women–not, you know, a massive inconvenience and actual health danger.

In any case, the baby factories remain a CGI dream for now. But, al-Ghaili’s fantasies aside, I doubt we’ll be seeing them any time soon. Not that this will stop MRAs from gloating over what they see as the final nail in the coffin for feminism.

Artificial wombs would fix way more of my problems instead of adding onto them.

I can’t imagine these guys raising children, can you? Most of them sound like they can barely take care of themselves.

Where do these idiots think they’re going to get an ova from? So much for “ending the monopoly”.

I’m gay and this would be a dream come true for me (and whomever I marry, should I wed).

Imagine all these guys when it actually comes time to put up or shut up regarding actually being a parent. The way men expect women to do all the dirty hard serious work when it comes to raising children is well known.

I can’t believe any of those idiots would want to raise any babies without a mom nearby to help out.

Lots of men want to have wives but no kids, but I’ve never heard of any man wanting kids but no wife/mom/helper/partner. Plenty of men get the latter, but not by their own choice, and it’s normally not a happy development.

These blithering wankers are just plain stupid, even by MRA standards.

Bring it on a lot of women would say. Just imagine. You want to start or increase a family.

Off we go to the RentaWomb Warehouse. Sign the contract, arrange the supply of required genetic material. Keep an eye on foetus growth from the CCTV/nanny system. Stay home a lot while making baby clothes/furniture/toys.

Hey presto! Family fun for all.

Oh, MRA guy, you are in for a shock. I was around before the Second Wave of feminism crashed onto shores worldwide. I wasn’t nice to terrible people then. I won’t be nice to them now. And to be crystal-clear, MRAs are terrible people.

Men’s reproductive rights

Yeah, that doesn’t mean what you think it does.

If they want to be a single dad there’s lots of foster kids in the system…

Not that the kids did anything to deserve being exposed to these jokers, but if these guys were serious that’s what they would be doing.

“Breaking up a monopoly is always a positive development,” declares Men’s Rights Redditor ElisaSKy.

Except there is no monopoly. There are four billion women in the world, most with their own independent wombs. For there to be a monopoly they’d have to all be in collusion with one another. There is no evidence to support such a claim.

Furthermore, I would not want to lay odds on this Redditor’s not turning out to be a big fan of Musk, or Bezos, or Zuckerberg, or some other well-known monopolist …

Women will actually have to be nice, friendly, helpful, caring…

I think the word you’re looking for is “subservient”. And no.

In any case, the baby factories remain a CGI dream for now.

Wait, don’t MRA hate pro-choicers? What will happen if artificial wombs are invented and women who cannot afford to raise a child just get the embryos into an artificial womb and put them for adoption instead of having an abortion? I have the nasty feeling they wouldn’t approve…

Who will raise these children? Isn’t that too girlie for these he-men?

Also, what if their baby is a girl?

Like guys living in their mom’s basement eating chicken tendies will be able to afford this technology. Pregnancy will still be the way cheaper option. I remember when IVF came out, and idiots blithered about no natural babies in the near future. Same outcome.

Artificial womb? So even I could have a kid without having to go through the absolute horror show that pregnancy is? Sign me up.

Or not. I’m still of the opinion that foster children deserve good homes, too, so they rank higher on my priority list than genetic children. I will adopt long before I will have genetic children.

These guys have never read any of Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan Saga, have they? Uterine replicators are considered the best way to have children – no more physiological dangers, and if you’re a powerful authority figure with enemies who want to kill you, you can make sure your gestating child has round-the-clock bodyguards.

But speaking of babies … I’M GOING TO BE AN AUNTIE! Dr. Baby Sister called me this weekend to let me know she’s pregnant, so I am plotting what I will knit for baby presents. Also toddler presents.

I’m not at all surprised that there’s a big overlap between MRAs and anti-choicers. They both view women as nothing more than walking wombs, and they both think that the walking womb’s function is fulfilled as soon as the baby is born — they never give any thoughts about what happens to the kid afterwards.

Why would they want babies without women in the first place? Aren’t these the same guys who believe women have no purpose other than supplying them with sex and raising children?

“Most women I know would be glad to have the option of having a child without having to go through pregnancy.”

People already do have the option of having a child without going through pregnancy. It’s called adoption. Source: I was adopted.

I would much rather an artificial uterus than the risks of carrying a pregnancy.

I currently possess a uterus, which it would yeeterus if I could, but I can’t so progesterone will have to do for now, and I have never wanted children of my own. I struggle with the noise, smells and mess children make, as much as I adore them, and I have no urge to reproduce. This doesn’t stop me from understanding the dangers of pregnancy and birth for both parent and infant. I know enough people with horrific stories, and people who want children who can’t have them for various reasons, including the fear of pregnancy, that the idea of an artificial uterus would actually be beneficial, the way IVF is beneficial – for those with medical or personal reasons for not being able to go through pregnancy and birth.

But, it’s a long way off, if it ever happens. Somehow, I think it’ll continue to be science fiction for some decades to come.

@Moon Custafer

There’s a hat pattern I’ve knitted before that is INCREDIBLY stretchy. It can fit wee tiny baby to toddler/older child. So I’m planning on that for the First Baby Present. But other presents must follow if I am going to cement my reputation as Cool Aunt.

Mr. Parasol is planning on being the Cool Uncle who teaches our future niece to make rude noises at the TV if stupidity is happening on screen.

These men raising the babies they want to get from the artificial wombs? Hah, imagine so! They’ll put them under someone else’s care, preferable a woman.

They HATE kids as they HATE women, can’t stand them – there’s a reason they put women and kids in the same level, “under men’s authority”.

They don’t want the responsibility to love and nurture children, really. All this bullshit talk is only to scare women with low self-esteem who think that they need a man or a traditional family to be happy – and sadly, there’s many of them.

These men won’t take care of these kids, they never cared about kids or families. It’s only about their egos, the sense of power over another being.

They’ll keep blaming women for being a failure as single fathers. The sexdolls/botmoms they’re dreaming about won’t be enough. It’s not that they want. They want us women “back to kitchen”. Sexdolls and artificial wombs doesn’t solve this problem of theirs, even less their emotional needs.

They KNOW that, in fact, it’s easier for women and the State to make them obsolete once for all with these artificial things. No more forcible pregnancies. No need any more to fear if you’re meeting a potential abuser to have a kid.

I don’t know that they see it as the final nail in the coffin for feminism, I think they see it as the final nail in the coffin for women in general.

And of course, as usual, they haven’t thought this through. Who is going to raise these MRAs kids? I know men in general are perfectly capable, but MRAs? These assholes are nothing but selfish and thoughtless. After they have their first sleepless night, I’m guessing the kids will be going up for adoption.
