Well, now there’s a dating app for you!
Anyway, the dating app is live (at least in Washington DC), it’s funded by asshole billionaire Peter Thiel, and it’s going to fail as hard as Truth Social. I can only assume.
It’s not that conservatives don’t need help finding dates. They complain all the time that no one wants to date them.
“Seventy-two percent of young Democrats say that they wouldn’t date a conservative,” Right Stuff co-founder Dan Huff told POLITICO. “The reverse isn’t true. So essentially they started this. We had to build this app to survive.”
Good luck with that!
You see, when news broke about the impending launch of the app, the Daily Beast made some calls to see how it might be received by actual right wing ladies. Not so well, it turns out, at least if you’re looking for a dating app that won’t be a total bratwurst fest.
Instead of drawing singles, the app has thus far largely drawn mockery, according to female Republican operatives who spoke to The Daily Beast.
Two Republican staffers in Washington, D.C., said many young conservative women have ignored [the site’s] outreach and have instead jeeringly passed around screenshots of [their] messages to group chats.
Other Republican staffers in D.C.—the sort who boast about downing drinks at the Navy Yard watering hole Mission and claim their pronouns are “Yee” and “Haw” on their Instagram profiles—told The Daily Beast the app has an array of possible problems, like liberals masquerading as right-wingers and the awkward potential of matching them with conservative staffers they already know.
“It’s all of Mitch McConnell’s staffers,” a female Republican operative said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because she still works in pro-Trump politics.
That does not sound promising.
Also, the Beast reports, there’s already another well-established dating app called The Right Stuff that has nothing to do with politics, and they’ve already sicced their lawyer on The Right Stuff Mach Two. So they’ve got that going for them.
This app, I suspect, is going to end up with roughly 200 men per woman. And that woman is going to have to block every single one of them.

They date Democrats in an attempt to convert them. They have no real interest in Democrats as human beings.

When you gotta start out by stealing someone else’s name, and then immediately have to disclaimer that you’re also not affiliated with white supremacists, you’re already behind before you even start.

Know what I don’t see you doing (and I fervently hope you don’t)? I don’t see you whining all over the internet about how the mean old universe has conspired to deny you the specific sort of men who‘ll offer the combination of beauty, youth, and deference you want. And I don’t see you proposing draconic social measures laser-focused on guaranteeing a Quality-Dick-To-Stacey pipeline.

I think that was a dog whistle. It probably IS meant to be “confused” with that site. Sure there were a few “diverse” women in the video, but some white nationalists believe interracial dating is ok AS LONG AS its the white MAN doing it. Those tend to be the same ones who believe in polygyny too. Unfortunately I wouldn’t be surprised if a few Black women who call themselves “divestors” show up on that dating app.

Well that last part IS a nice fantasy! And dicks are wonderful but with me it’s more the Quality-Tounge-To-Stacey pipeline that would be awesome.
I appreciate your point though because I work VERY hard and have to have endless patience and make incredible efforts to find even close to acceptable cis male bodies and even then whether the brain and soul that comes with them is compatible is an open question (though that part is usually easier)

Who knew that right-wingers were tolerant enough to date Democrats! Of course, no self-respecting right-winger would marry a Democrat.
While conservatives wanting to convert liberals is a thing, I don’t think that’s a major factor here. I think it’s mostly a mixture of liberals being likely to dehumanize others and less tolerant of being dehumanized and/or being involved with those who dehumanize others, and that tends to show up pretty early in the dating process; and the fact that liberals who put themselves out on the dating market tend to have more interesting, diverse lives, while conservatives tend to have rather stereotypical ones. (There are always exceptions, of course.) So even before politics enter the picture, liberals have, on the average, a somewhat higher “draw” for everyone. And when politics do enter the picture, well, there’s the view that a lot of conservatives are just toxic and some people would rather filter that out because we have enough BS on our plates, it’s not worth risking that waste of time and energy.

This massively misunderstands “divestment”.
It would take a lot to overcome the right wing dating scene being majority men. It does not seem the right stuff is able overcome the clear gender disparity.
Someone I know very well has a dating site profile that – among the usual varied things one writes about oneself to try and give an idea of who one is and who one might be looking for – specifies “no Tories” (and if you actually think for two seconds about what the Tory party stands for and what they enact in practice when they are in power, I can’t imagine wanting to date, for fun, anyone who either approves of all that or just doesn’t care about the harm the Tories do. Interacting civilly, even cordially, e.g. at work or in other social settings is a far cry from wanting-to-date).
Some months ago they met for a first date with a bloke who mentioned, as they were getting-to-know-you chatting in the first few minutes, that well, yanno about those profile things, well actually he was a Tory (which, I mean, “no Tories” specifically mentioned on that profile. Way to announce “I couldn’t care less what you think, who you are or what you want”). And was, oddly enough, surprised when my friend said “I’m leaving now”, got up, and left.

There are many reasons why liberals won’t date conservatives, but one big one is that we’re generally pretty happy with dating other liberals. We don’t have to hold our nose and put up with opinions we find offensive just to get some decent companionship. The fact that conservatives constantly whine about this tells me that they’re not happy with dating other conservatives, which is why sites like this one keep failing. And it raises the question, why should anyone else want these assholes, when they don’t even want each other?
I bet all of these conservatives whining about the dating market are devout disciples of laissez faire economics, too.
How big a part do dating apps actually play in people finding long term relationships?
I know some people who just use them for hook-ups. But, at the risk of showing my age here, how many long term relationships develop from them? Everyone I’ve ever been involved with I’ve met either through mutual friends or shared interests. So by the time you start to fancy them, you already know you have common interests in say art, animal rights, music, gym etc.
I mean, presumably if right wing politics is your thing, then there are events you go to or organisations you belong to, so why isn’t that your dating pool?

I actually think it’s incredible now. I think approx 1/3 of people now meet their partner online? I will double check but it’s tough because often in real life – you aren’t surrounded by single people.
I don’t know if liberal and conservative are good synonyms for Democrat and Republican. One can be a liberal minded Republican or a conservative minded Democrat, in fact, I’ve met several people who identify as both of those. Then you have Independents who can vote either way and hold a wide variety of values also.
What I want to know is, we’ve been hearing for years that registered Republicans are a minority in the USA. That most Americans who are registered to vote are registered as Democrats. So how exactly is it that Republican politics is so strong in this country and they seem to control A LOT?

Of course, it helps considerably to have interests beyond scoring that Tasty Sex Treat (or, on the distaff side, Life Begins At Man—although women are urged to learn to share his interests.)
