The wait is killing me. And it’s probably killing you.
So here are some chill kitties to help you relax a little during this day of uncertainty. Open thread!
I’m going to make a video of these Red Pill/Manosphere guys crying about the election outcome. Most of them were convinced that it was “impossible” for Trump to lose.
Wisconsin has gone to Biden. And Michigan looks good.
What makes me angry and sad is that about half the country voted for somone who’s only platform is “Screw the other guy”.
Trump and his followers have made me ashamed of my country.
If things hold steady and Biden wins at least we’ll have an administration not filled with science deniers, incompetent yes-men, actively evil authoritarians, industry lobbyists and Dump’s smarmy relations. If I never have to hear from his stupid offspring or son-in-law again it will be too soon.
@Mea
I feel the same way. A few years ago I was naïve and I thought 2016 was an aberration, but it wasn’t. It was what people are. I’m more surprised that after all that’s happened re: the economy, pandemic, etc., that anyone looks around and says “this is good, I want more of it.”
It looks like Biden will win (fingers crossed, knock on wood, and all that) so I’m cautiously optimistic about the next few years being better than the last few. Unfortunately, it looks like Mitch and the Republicans will keep the senate. I blame this on the Postal Service’s failure to comply with court orders and deliver mail. DeJoy should be in prison.
Not sure how much stock to put in them, but 538 thinks that Biden could still win PA and/or GA. He doesn’t need them to win but if he did it would give him a larger margin of victory than Trump had in 2016.

Somewhere on Pennsylvania Avenue, a TV set has just had the remote control thrown at it.
@Alan Robertshaw
He’s in for a rough night.
@Alan,
Now that reaction shot would be something to see
Hi Mammothers. I don’t often comment here, but I’ve been thinking of you all today, with growing hope that the four-year Narnian winter on your side of the Atlantic is about to turn to spring. And I’ve been re-reading my favourite American poem: it always makes me think of you, the true Americans, as well: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/42869/i-am-waiting-56d22183d718a
Bunnies are nice, too. Just saying.
@Naglfar
Look what’s been happening at Trump’s lead in PA all day. That is expected to continue through Friday. Biden is a favorite there even if Trump gets late arriving mail votes tossed by SCOTUS. Biden is running out of road in GA. Nate silver thinks it’s 50/50, with maybe a tiny sliver of a lead for Biden. I’m less optimistic, but it’s in the realm of possibility… unlike the senate.
@Naglfar re: post office
We’ve done our best. I’m sorry.
It’s not uncommon for legal clients to try to second guess their lawyers; but I’m glad mine don’t do it via Twitter.
Looks like Biden’s only 6 electoral votes away from victory! Keep the faith and keep crossed whatever appendages you cross!
My anxiety is beginning to subside a little but I won’t completely relax until Biden is definitely at or over 270.
@Cats in Shiny Hats
I know y’all tried. And I know this isn’t the fault of the mail-carriers, but of the higher ups. Please don’t take this as an attack on you, I’m not trying to call you out. You and your fellow mail carriers are heroes for what you were able to do, in spite of DeJoy’s obstacles.
Here’s a pretty good summary of the “logic” the Trumpkins use to justify their support. Not sure if the link will parse, but it’s only 7 minutes and worth watching.

@Naglfar
Thank you for the reassurance. I needed it. It’s been pretty rough on our (the carrier) end.
PA looks like it will go to Biden at this rate. I’ve been watching the difference drop from 700k to a mere 187k in just a day. There’s still 11% of the vote left and the leftover ballots are from Pittsburg and mail ins. Biden needs to win 67% of these ballots to turnover PA, he is currently winning 78%.
PA might just flip by tomorrow noon.
@ Diego
Thanks for that. It’s funny, I was just saying to myself I wish I could do maths, after trying to figure out this one:
I thought it was just a matter of working out what the percentage difference between those two numbers was; but then I realised that you’d also have to add on the remainder as additional Trump votes and then my brain broke.
@Alan Robertshaw
Since most of the outstanding mail ballots in GA are from bluer areas and mail trends blue anyway, Biden could win GA. It’s maybe not as likely as some other states but still a possibility.
North Carolina probably won’t be called for a few more days (possibly another week) because they allow mail in ballots until the 12th so long as they were postmarked by Election Day, but I am pretty sure it will go for Trump. I’m worrying more and more about AZ, it was called by several sources for Biden but they’re still counting. If he wins PA then AZ won’t matter, but if he doesn’t win PA then he needs it.
Fingers crossed. It seems that Biden is ahead in the general race. Unfortunately, the Senate seems more likely to go Republican.
It kind of shocked me to hear that Trump is trying to use lawsuits to cheat on the election. I mean, it’s in character for him, but it’s still kind of appalling.
(edited for grammar, and to say that the cat scratching its chin with a hairbrush is TOO CUTE)
Dump campaign sends out spam text messages begging for money to file lawsuits:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/11/04/election-results-misinformation/
“The campaign bombarded Americans’ smartphones with an estimated 9 million text messages from midnight to midday Wednesday, according to data compiled by RoboKiller, a call-blocking app. Some of the texts accused Democrats of trying to steal the election while asking recipients to donate to help pay for the president’s coming legal efforts to challenge the results, the data shows.
“I need you to defend America! We can’t let Dems undermine our election,” read one of the campaign’s texts, which included a link to a Web page where recipients could donate to help the president “FIGHT BACK!”
Jesus Christ, is there no level to which they will not stoop?
@Kobun37:
No, there is no depth too deep. For Trump, nothing matters but him ‘winning’ and his adoring fans. For most of the base, it’s all about proving that they still have control over something even as the rest of the world is giving power to other people that aren’t them. For folks like McConnell, it’s all about power and control.
Really, it’s all about power and control for most of them, just for the base the only ‘power’ they had was the ability to be considered better than Black people no matter how badly off they were. And they will quite happily tear the foundations out from the system as long as it means Black people have a harder time climbing back up than they do.
