Just a note to let you all know why I haven’t been posting. My mother died last Friday. I hope to begin posting again soon, but right now I’m taking it a day at a time.

Be gentle with yourself. Do what you can to heal. The loss of a parent is a huge wound.
And thank you. He left behind a huge circle of friends in his online network. And yes, this year is from Hell. Another friend in this circle has called it “this *FUCKING* year” that is determined to rip down everything good or kind or vulnerable.
To give you an idea how strongly he feels on the subject, he’s a Southern Baptist by upbringing and in the quarter century I’ve known him has used the F-bomb only once. For this.
I’m scared how else this damn year will tell us to hold its beer. God.

I read this blog all the time but have never posted. I am so so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom on October 9th 7 years ago. It changes everything.
