allegedly false accusations incels misogyny MRA rape rape culture

Men’s Rights activist: Ron Jeremy’s rape charges are part of a plot by feminists angry that “he isn’t the gorgeous stud they demand”

By David Futrelle

On Monday, porn star Ron Jeremy was hit with 20 new charges of rape or sexual assault involving 12 women and a teenage girl, on top of the charges he already faced for allegedly raping or assaulting four women.

As plausible as these charges against a man infamous for regularly groping women in public may look to you and me, the charges have been met with everything from skepticism to outright derision by Men’s Rights activists, who rarely run across rape allegations they aren’t ready to dismiss as false.

“It seems like a setup,” wrote one Reddit MRA in response to the original charges announced some two months ago.

[T]he man use to film three to four movies a day, no one would invite a man known as “The Ass Master” over to their house to hang out one on one without expecting sex.

“[H]e works in porn so he will obviously would have boinked some women,” added another Reddit MRA.

It’s like suing someone for groping you because he had to do CPR on you, and accidentally touched you on your breasts.

Well, no, it’s not like that at all.

But the strangest theory about the accusations I’ve run across in the Men’s Rights subreddit came from a fellow called omegaphallic, one of Jeremy’s most vociferous defenders. According to him, the accusations are part of a plot hatched by evil feminists who hate Jeremy because he’s not hot enough for their tastes.

“The Feminists have HATED Ron Jeremy for decades,” omegaphallic declared.

[A]nd the feminists in porn having been gunning for him, they wanted him out of the industry because he isn’t the gorgeous stud they demand out of Male pornstars,

Wait, what? I was not aware that the world’s feminists had a position on the minimum gorgeousness of male porn performers.

[H]e fuck above his Station, has gorgeous woman asking to have their boobs autographed, and yet he looks like your savage overweight working class Joe. So I’m not surprised about these BS accusations against him. They won’t rest until he is ruined.

Meanwhile, over on the Incels.co forums, one commenter has a similar theory.

“Ron Jeremy’s only crime is that he is not a Chad,” a regular commenter called Metabuxx wrote in a post today.

Ron Jeremy isn’t on trial for being a rapist. He’s on trial for having the audacity to fuck many women despite being a subhuman.

MRAs and incels, two sides of the same shitty coin.

Some feedback, though I’m sure this is a WIP since the site’s been having so many problems over the past little while. Good luck ironing out all the details!

I don’t have a sidebar any more, on desktop. It looks like I expect it looks like on mobile, but taking up my whole widescreen monitor. I agree with Naglfar, the titles are ENORMOUS.

Here’s what it looks like, for me (this is from the top of my window, excluding tabs and bookmarks > the bottom of the window, excluding the taskbar)comment image

It’s also BLAZINGLY white. I’d like a little darkness, if we could.

There aren’t any images popping up next to the ‘recent comments’ or ‘recent posts’. I don’t see a link to David’s twitter, the current top posts, or a link to random posts.

Oh, I missed that we don’t have page numbers any more! That is a problem for posts where you’re trying to catch up.

On the other hand though, my comment posted super fast, and showed up right away!!! I hope everyone else is having that experience, maybe the slow commenting bug has been fixed… *crosses fingers*

@ Jenora

Also, ‘intelligence’ and ‘wisdom’ are very much different things.

It hasn’t solved my problem with comments not showing up sometimes.

Titles are a little smaller now, that’s good! XD I was so surprised when I refreshed and saw the change.

@Rhuu
Having all the same issues. Comments for me are working about the same as before but the box is smaller.

So, intelligence is pub trivia, while wisdom is literary analysis? I agree.

Unfortunately, it took several minutes for this comment to show for me after I saw it in the recent comments list.

Edit: but I should add that particular issue is very unlikely to be due to any of the css changes David is making and I suspect it’s actually on WordPress’ end of things.

Maybe stick the ‘related’ bit down at the bottom?

Currently the comments are a bit disassociated from the post. I’ve been on a few similar news sites where I didn’t even realise there were comments at first. I appreciate other viewers might not be as oblivious as me.

But also, then you wouldn’t need to repeat the thread title.

I do like the new look though; it’s very elegant. The hot pink might be a little loud for the stark background; but that I guess is very subjective.

Might it be an idea to start a feedback thread specifically so people can comment? Although you are of course entitled to say ‘my site; my aesthetics’!

Yeah – both my comments since the change were the “hit post and have time to go make a cup of tea and feed the cats before they show up” type. Didn’t expect cosmetic css changes to alter that though.

This one showed up with 30 seconds left on the edit timer.

make a cup of tea and feed the cats

At your next appraisal your cats will be bringing up your skewed sense of priorities.

I find the blinding white background hurts to look at.

Seconding all of the above. Also, the size of the box for editing comments is kinda small (on mobile, at the very least; no idea about desktop). This comment took a few refreshes to show up, so that seems to be still around.

Also: Yay, my WHTM Quote Helper still works! But my website link in my username appears to have disappeared… time to tune my autofill settings.

😀

The cats have reluctantly accepted second fiddle status to the kettle. Or at least they’ve not tried to dispose of it yet …

Edit: this comment showed up immediately. Computers be weird.

testing… one, two….

@ ariblester:

It’s also BLAZINGLY white. I’d like a little darkness, if we could.

The first thing I said when I fired it up was “BIG PRINT — BLACK ON WHITE!! I CAN SEEEEEEE IT!!!!!

Most web sites don’t lend themselves well to my “olde people’s eyesight”… particularly with the programming culture’s latest infatuation with light grey text on off-white background.

I haven’t published anything on WordPress in years. On the blinding white, is there a dark theme option available?

MRAs: “Agh! And he would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for you dang feminists involved in porn and your growing demographic of non-cishet white males!”

So, intelligence is pub trivia, while wisdom is literary analysis? I agree.

I’d say wisdom is deeper-than-surface understanding on how the world works. That, combined with literary trivia, constitutes literary analysis.

And the resurrected mammoth shambles on…

I believe the difference between wisdom and intelligence is that when somebody do something stupid but is a scientist, we say he is not wise, and when someone do something intelligent but isn’t learned, he is wise.

In other words, the two words are in my opinion artificially separated. You rarely see intelligent people who are unwise anyhow.

“It’s amazing how often the phrase mature wisdom is used in place of ‘too tired to care’.”

Don’t know where I read that but it amused me.

@All with landlines and answering machines – We still have a copper landline and will keep it until the telco rips it out of our desperate clutches!

edited to add: The new site look seems to have changed everyone’s quilt block color and I’ll be temporarily confused. Didn’t realize how much I had done that associating!

Whenever I have to give a phone # when applying for stuff, they get the house number. As a result, I get almost no spam or sales (and etc.) calls on my cel. I think there are fewer than ten people who have my cel number.

Weird. I edited my last comment and it didn’t seem to take. We’ll see, I guess.

The avatars for people without custom avatars? Odd, because for me they are all unchanged. My own is still bright pink, Beyond Ocean’s is dark blue, Threp’s is pale blue, and so on, and so forth, all the same as before.

They’re looking the same to me as well, though they do seem a bit different on a lavender background.
