After Reddit banned the Incels subreddit, then its replacement subreddit Braincels, some Reddit incels wandered to other subreddits; some headed to the Incels.co forums; and a few hundred made their way to a Reddit clone called Saidit.
I went on a little safari there the other day to see if the commenters on s/Incels were as bad as those I remember from r/Incels. Turns out they are, and then some.
Once again I am utterly perplexed as to why these fellows have trouble finding dates.

Is this just Reddit for people who got banned from Reddit, like how Parler and Spinster are for people who got banned on Twitter?

To be fair, if something is only 29% fun, that’s not very fun. Like a game that gets boring 29% of the way in.

I agree that making them powerless is necessary, but I don’t think making their bubbles real is a good idea. If we do that, they will become even more disconnected from reality.
@Nagflar : the thing is, what % fun is a baseline fun activity ?
If it’s like alcohol, 29% is quite a bit. If it’s like vanilla, 29% is WAY too high. If it’s like iron, 29% is extremely low.
And, yes, I prefer to think about the usefulness of various concentrations than to even think about the horrors in that post.

I assumed it meant what fraction of the post was fun. If a piece of media is 100% fun, it must be fun all the way through, but if it’s only 29% fun, the other 71% is probably boring.
Those grapes are so sour. Everybody knows this.
Given how much people like that claim to hate women, why would they even want to contaminate themselves?
Saidit (and the incel community in general) reminds me of Alexander Portnoy’s vision of the hereafter, where he’s condemned to be chained to a toilet in Hell and spend all of eternity jerking off. Every day, they make a thousand conscious choices to cut themselves off from humanity. This is one of them.

I tried to mentally pronounce “Spinster” to rhyme with “Parler” (which I assumed is pronounced “parlay”) and got a headache. I also cannot stop my brain from trying to parsing “Saidit” as something involving “Saidi”.

I don’t think they’re supposed to rhyme, but you could sort of get them to rhyme if you pronounce Parler using English phonology, as in Par-LAIR, and pronounced the last syllable of Spinster like the word “stair” and put the emphasis on that syllable.
Out of morbid curiosity, I just tried to access Voat, and was told that I was denied acces because “This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks.”
Which suits me just fine ?
I realized that “parlour” and “spinster” would rhyme, once my brain got unstuck. Also “Twitter”, obviously.

– A conspiracy theory claimed Stanley Kubrick was murdered during the making of Eyes Wide Shut
– Someone rambling about how the ADL is a foreign agent and the US should arrest everyone who works for them (while there certainly are valid criticisms of the ADL, this is very obviously antisemitic dogswhistling)
Talking about how quarantine is a form of tyranny
– A political cartoon showing a donkey (Democrats) restraining a white guy with an American flag shirt while a hook-nosed man labelled “media” forces a book labelled “BLM-Marx” down his throat while standing on George Soros’s shoulders
– Something about NASCAR being ruined because they banned confederate flags and have a black driver
So, not a place I am eager to return.

Speaking of right wing internet stuff.
Burger King have brought out a commercial where they accept responsibility for climate change and vow to do better. I wouldn’t normally recommend burger ads; but you have to see it; it’s surreal.
But anyway, it’s certainly annoyed farmers; but also created a bit of a storm in right wing circles. Calls for a boycott and all that. Deep state sell-out to promote discredited lefty science, trying to turn real men into soyboys etc (even though they’re still making the burgers out of meat).
