By David Futrelle
I‘ve run across so many videos of police misconduct and brutality aimed at George Floyd protesters, media, and even onlookers that I thought it might be helpful to gather them all in once place. Feel free to add more in the comments below and I can add them to the post.
Warning: Some of these videos are quite disturbing.
The casualness of the brutality in this first clip is striking. This is someone who has zero fear of ever being held accountable for his abuse.
Police initially said this man “tripped” and fell. Thankfully, he did not die from his head injuries but remains in the hospital in serious condition.
Protesters aren’t the only ones being assaulted by cops:
Here’s what that looked like from the point of view of the cameraman who got punched.
This is just a full-on police riot:
Make sure to watch this one until the end:
This tweet sums it all up:

@Naglfar:
We’ll know this for sure when he starts yelling, “Yes, Marla can be a man’s name!!”
@Naglfar
There is something that matters very, very much to conservative voters: hurting Others. That’s why they’re so excited right now, and why they are coming out of the woodwork to praise police brutality.
Because that’s what I’ve seen. Oh, there’s lots of denial, and rationalizations, and such, but what I’m really seeing is praise.
They’re looking at all of these videos and cheering.
WRT the Buffalo knocked-down guy, my dad reported smugly that the dude was a known community activist, and totally had it coming to him.
Like, that’s literally what he said. And my mom subsequently agreed.
This is what we’re up against.
@Allandrel
Oh yes. They do have that value, sorry that I forgot to mention that. What I meant is that they probably won’t care about Lindsay because they’ll just handwave it off as fake news.
Unless he actually resigns or something, in which case he’ll always have been a traitor and a no-goodnik.
@Rabid Rabbit – The Onion did a parody with a premise like this a few years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=simV1ZXFsxI
I fear that “serious” news would have trouble handling this without adding negative implications, like saying that all homophobes are secretly gay, or that being gay is an embarrassing thing, etc.
…
I don’t want to watch the videos today but I read some of the descriptions. People’s comments are changing my mind on the issue of police as an institution, which I never really thought about much before (chalk that up to white privilege as well as being in a markedly different field of work).
@Cyborgette and others : mostly, I am skeptikal because thoses plans being outed mean either the Europa is trying to send a message to Trump, or the preparations are becoming impossible to hide. And either of thoses options is a big “shit hit the fan” moment, and hint that they have insider informations pointing to it. So I default on skepticism, perhaps because I really, really don’t want a WW3.
Also, and perhaps more cynically, why wouldn’t most Europeans countries, who have been built just as much on violence and racism, ally with Heil Trumper ?
@Ohlmann
I think the reasons they haven’t allied with Trump is because he is highly unpredictable and hasn’t gotten along well with them in the past. Plus, as you mentioned, they would not benefit from a WWIII with nuclear weapons.
Moggie:
No, they’re saving the aliens to coincide with the law suits about the disputed election result. August is reserved for the hurricanes.
@Ohlmann:
I can confirm that “Der Spiegel” one of our most important weekly papers posted an article that speculated that way.
What should we do if the US becomes a dictatorship is somethink that has probably be in the mind of a lot of politicans. I don’t know how corrupt the Supreme Court is. (in the article it will give Trump power regardless what the voters vote)
Heil Trumper is probably the reason why at last some European countries are not that keen to work with Dictator Trump. (okay President Trump is allready a …) WW2 is not faded here. Never again is somethink that is not forgotten.
And racism is alive(mostly done much more suptile than Trump), open murder (in Germany killing someone because of racism is murder) is somethink that people are not as easy acepting.
An the police murdering people is at last in Germany not somethink that we think of when we hear police. 10-15 deads with weopons by police is normal for a year in the whole of Germany (includes cases where the police had no other coice.
Well, our old friend One Angry Gamer has put together a list of “traitors” to America and it’s just as ridiculous as you would expect.
@Naglfar:
Which makes you wonder what the Russians are holding over them. If this sort of thing won’t perturb their political careers even a little, then it has to be something that can actually get them in legal hot water. Dalliances with people who were under age, perhaps, or financial peccadilloes serious enough to warrant charges such as money laundering, fraud, and insider trading?
@PoM:
So, now “being a community activist” is a crime now, and the penalty is corporal punishment? Summary corporal punishment, at that, with no trial, no defense, no due process of law?
Ask him that, and ask him how well this abrogation of the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th Amendments sits with his so-called conservatism. 😛
@Ohlmann:
Last time the “pax” torch passed, from Pax Britannica to Pax Americana, the turbulent multi-polar interregnum period featured two of the bloody things. We’ll be lucky if the interregnum between Pax Americana and (most likely) Pax Sinensis features only one more. 🙁
@Surplus
Well, seeing as Trump has multiple women reporting being underage when he assaulted them, and there are currently sitting senators who faced no consequences for insider trading, I feel like even those are unlikely to bring everyone down. Really the only thing that would be likely to bring the party down would be if they started being good people, they’d rapidly lose support. And that just won’t happen.
Apparently so!
I don’t want to get into that argument. I already know how it will go. He thinks Democrats are not real Americans and don’t deserve the protections that real Americans get. His worldview is very self-contained and is impervious to reason. It would just turn into a screaming match that led nowhere.
I’ve almost got him trained to not say shit like that around me, but sometimes it still slips out.
Well, that guy was assaulted by the cops, so he must have deserved it somehow. If you can’t immediately see how “he’s no angel”, that just means you haven’t searched hard enough. You might think that the cops didn’t know anything about him, but they have some kind of spidey sense which tells them when you’ve done something which merits a life-threatening injury.
@Policy of Madness
Well, that’s convenient.
@Naglfar,
Is there someplace that mirrors that list anyplace? My old and elderly phone didn’t want to connect to whatever was on the other side of the captcha. Please and thank you.
@PoM,
What kind of community was this guy activating for? Better parks to play in, cleaner streets, trees on every street corner? Just wondering what he was doing that was so awful in your father’s eyes to deserve a cracked skull like that.
@Redsilkphoenix
Not that I know of, sorry.
If you look closely at the video, the reason he was approaching the cops was to return a police helmet he’d found. It’s in his left hand.
Here’s a spreadsheet of Doucette’s list. It’s also being archived on YouTube. It’s easier to cope with than trying to get Twitter to load properly, especially now that it’s over 430 entries.
Speaking of Twitter behaving badly, does anyone know why on this and other sites I can’t see embedded Twitter videos? Sometimes I can (sometimes on the same page), but it’s becoming more frequent that I just get a “The media could not be played” gray screen. I have to click on it and go directly to Twitter to view it.
If you know why this is happening now, is there a workaround?
@Naglfar:
Pop-Tarts: probation
There will be panicky meetings at the Kellogg company to decide how they can get off probation.
He has a weird idea of “traitor”, since he includes non-US companies and individuals. How can Jim Fucking Sterling be a “traitor of America”?
Once you get past all the pop-ups, this is possibly worth reading. Don’t know what the chances of success are; but it highlights an important lacuna in the law I think.

@Moggie
My favorite response to that proclamation was this tweet:
https://twitter.com/dcb42/status/1269001703451439104
He claims it’s because they’ve “influenced” Americans. He doesn’t seem to know what “traitor” means.
@Naglfar:
I just read the One Angry Gamer list you mentioned and boy howdy, we’ve got some next-level paranoia going on up in here. OAG makes Alex Jones look tranquil by comparison. If I were a gambler I’d bet 7-1 odds he’s got AR-15s in every room in his house.
