I‘ve seen plenty of hot takes on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s breakup with the royal family, but the hottest one I’ve seen thus far comes from the collective mind of the Men Going Their Own Way subreddit, where the regulars have convinced themselves it’s all a dastardly plot by the evil Meghan to lure Harry to Canada, which they think “has the worst anti-male divorce laws than even the US,” so she can steal his fortune in a divorce settlement.
Never mind that Harry, by virtually all accounts, has had it with royal life and the endless press attention it demands. Never mind that the racist British press has treated the woman he loves like shit. Never mind that Meghan has plenty of money of her own already and could make plenty more if she returned to acting. Nope, none of this matters because, in the minds of the MGTOWs, the “soulless” Meghan is manipulating her “simp” of a husband to score maximum moola.
“Lets get this straight,” writes MGTOW Redditor Yaksi in a post that’s gotten more than nine hundred upvotes so far.
She is 37, divorced; forced him to abandon his family, wealth and status – all his layers of security; to move to ‘Canada’ to do ‘charity work’, not Uganda, Haiti, Nepal, or South Sudan. Canada has the worst anti-male divorce laws than even the US! So..yeah, he’s done for.
Actually, she’s 38. It’s definitely easier to get a divorce in Canada than it is in the UK (and the UK will recognize foreign divorces under most circumstances). But I have no idea how Yaksi has decided that Canada’s laws are the most “anti-male”; he doesn’t say.
Regardless, the vast majority of the commenters on the MGTOW subreddit agree wholeheartedly with Yaksi. Which comes as no surprise; MGTOWs (like their alt-right brothers in hate) have loathed Markle from the moment they first heard about her.
“Poor Harry is about to go from woke to broke,” writes someone called trapperz, because apparently no white guy would ever marry a biracial woman unless he was some sort of simp cuck SJW.
The assembled MGTOWs agree that Meghan is an almost supernatural force of evil.
“She looks just like the devils daughter…leading the next man to his execution,” declares rejac218.
“Every picture I see her in she looks like a soulless husk,” says BadWardrobe.
“You can just see the evil in her eyes!” adds a man with the lovely handle TunaTorpedo.
And of course this means that she wears the pants in the relationship.
“She put a leash around his neck and have him a bone to lick,” asserts rollinterror666. “He’s probably the woman in the relationship.”
“Prince Cuck,” sneers Gokusayan1.
Others are more sympathetic to the poor simp of a prince. Sort of.
“He looked so happy and upright in his photos before he got married,” asserts Silva_Shadow.
lol at him chubby and hunched over with the weight of that emotional and mental burden he calls his wife.
“Question is what is she doing to him to make this possible,” wonders jeosol.
It is probably systematic and gradual eroding his identity and lowering his self esteem. It is safe to say she runs the show in the relationship.
Naturally, someone — in this case someone with the inventive nickname apfelstrudelboner — managed to drag Teh Jews into the conspiracy theory.
what self respecting roastie able to raise from rags to royalty would tolerate spending more time than necessary with such a beta loser?
Besides, her (((handlers))) are waiting for their kickbacks.
For someone called ktm1001, the real shock was the discovery that “[t]he bitch is 3 years older” than her prince rather than eight or nine years younger, as he’d been assuming. Because, golly, why would a literal prince marry a woman who’s already hit the wall, at least according to Manosphere math, rather than some still-hot twentysomething or maybe even a teenager.
I think it’s safe to say that MGTOWs don’t really understand anything at all about adult relationships or, more broadly, love. I guess that’s what happens if you spend all your free time in a hate forum online yelling about the alleged evils of women.

I couldn’t live the kind of life they have, I’m a much to private person who values my privacy above everything. Even if I wasn’t, I don’t think most people could have the same kind of life. It looks like they can’t either. I think the changes are just them trying to cut the harassment they have in half, not even stop it completely, just cut it in half.
I’m not a monarchist but watching the right wing British press lose their shit over this has been delicious.
And the misogyny. The misogynoiry. Of course it’s all Megan. Harry being famously weak willed doing what he’s told.
It’s not like his disdain for the media, particularly how it hounded his mother is not widely known and this couldn’t be a man wanting to do the best for his family. As they cannot understand that concept they just label her an evil golddigger.
And the golddigger accusations labelled at her are really tiresome, if not predictable. As if they cannot imagine a woman happening to fall for a man who just happens to be wealthy / hold a position of high status.
Also in talking about Canadian (or even US, how is the US relevant?) divorce laws they show their complete ignorance.
“ https://www.businessinsider.com/why-london-divorce-capital-world-for-mega-rich-2019-7/?r=AU&IR=T”
London is frequently referred to as the divorce capital of the world for the super rich.
@Steph : eh, being a rich prince certainly *is* part of his appeal. It’s just that there’s plenty other reasons too. Like, for example, the fact that as someone who had to deal with journalists and public appearance pretty much all his life, he have plenty experience being charming and all. It’s similar to how rich actors are often also quite good seducers, because that’s part of their jobs.
The racism of the english press is really, really something. it’s notable by how brazen it is ; dog whistles are too subtles for thoses.
@Ohlmann it *may* be part of his appeal but it may equally have nothing to do with that. I just find it a fairly tiresome and sexist trope. Being a prince may also be a repellant (as is reported to have been the case with a number of exes of both William and Harry, where the thought of the media attention and responsibilities placed on royals was offputting.)
It’s also one sided. If this was Princess Harriet and Michael (for example) nobody would be arguing her being a princess is part of the appeal. He is fairly charming but I think that’s more who he is. Plenty of other royals don’t come across nearly as well despite having similar media attention / schooling (including his father and brother.)
@Ohlmann I agree with you on the British press. Specifically the right-wing / tabloid press.
But it’s merely a function of British society. Brits never seem to see anything as racist unless it’s the most extreme examples (basically slavery, lynching, the holocaust etc.)
The dogwhistles and the pretence at ignorance is tiring. One of the (numerous) reasons I waved my home country goodbye and have little desire to return.
@Moggie
I’d almost forgotten about that. The question is why he ever thought that was a good idea in the first place. Britain fought the Nazis, so I don’t know what he was thinking.
Or “shtoonk” and “putz” for someone who does that.
Canada? Canada! I was in Canada once. It was cold. It’s clear to me that Meghan is a duplicitous crone who plans to abandon her young husband, Harry, on a Canadian ice floe.
@Kat:
Ridiculous stereotyping! I’m sure she just intends to get him hooked on hockey and Tim Hortons, and they’ll live happily ever after in their luxurious royal igloo.
@CripDyke:
:-\ 🙂 I see what you did there.
@Naglfar:
Apparently the fancy-dress party had the theme “Colonial and Native”, and Harry went with a uniform of the German WWII Afrika Korps with a Nazi armband as an example of the “colonial” category. (William wore a lion costume, presumably as an example of the “native” category.)
So while Harry’s uniform was still a stupid and offensive costume choice (and if you ask me the whole concept of “Colonial and Native” as a costume-party theme has a very high risk of stupidity and offensiveness baked into it anyway), it seems to have been chosen more to go along with the colonialism theme than for its death-camps-and-London-Blitz associations.
@Kimstu
That does seem like a theme that would be more or less impossible to do without being offensive.
@Moggie
Have you read no MGTOW literature at all? What you describe is a fairy tale. MGTOW writings make it clear that where there is a woman there is disaster. So when your mother cuts you off midsentence or when your sister can’t loan you money right now or when your female neighbor asks you to turn down your music — don’t say MGTOW didn’t warn you.
I love the “It is probably systematic and gradual eroding his identity and lowering his self esteem”. Apparently, when it’s a woman, it’s totally okay to not only assume emotional abuse is occurring but in fact presume it with absolute no evidence besides wild speculation. These guys will, of course, invent conspiracy theories to pretend that prominent men accused of abuse or rape are innocent. How odd that their standards of evidence are so inconsistent.
I suppose Harry wearing his regular uniform for the “Colonial” role would have been too on the nose.
Even if hypergamy was a thing, and even if Meghan were the hypergamiest hypergamer, wouldn’t she be presumed to have won hypergame when she married Harry. Who would rank higher on the hypergamy scale?
Whilst I can think of lots of reasons for not recommending a Buzzffed article (number 8 would shock you) this is a pretty good illustration of how Meghan has been treated by the press.

The only time a colonial and native theme has ever gone right is the Thanksgiving play scene from Adam’s Family Values

@moregeekthan
To MGTOWs, probably the only higher ranked person would be their Dear Leader God-Emperor.
@Alan Robertshaw
I knew it was bad, but I did not realize the Daily Mail was that skilled at turning out opposing headlines about the same thing for two different women. I shouldn’t be surprised, though, this is the Daily Mail after all. Will they finally shut up when Meghan moves to Canada?
@ WWTH
You might enjoy this take on that scene; and this lot are a great band…
Christina Ricci was so good as Wednesday Addams.
@wwth
Nailed it. If you drilled down into the goopy matter that makes up the chud brain, you’ll probably find a terrifying dystopian fantasy world kinda like John Norman’s Gor series where the only women around are young and pretty, entirely subservient and exist only to gratify men. I’ve referenced him before, but Mr. Dapperton’s idealized version of himself is exactly what these chuds think that the perfect life is: more money than they know what to do with and attractive but replaceable women waiting in their bed.
So when somebody has what they believe is that life, like Prince Harry theoretically had when he was in his party animal 20s, if they then forsake that life, the chuds consider it a slap in the face. Kinda like “You have everything we’ve ever wanted and you’re rejecting it?! How DARE you, you ingrate!”
It really hasn’t dawned on these clowns that even if somebody like Prince Harry was living like that for several years… it’s not exactly as fulfilling as they’ve built it up in their heads. It’s an awfully shallow existence and whatever Harry was up to in his past, he’s clearly interested in a life with Meghan now. The chuds simply can’t muster the emotional fortitude to be happy for them.
@Katamount
Because to be happy for Harry and Meghan would mean admitting that red pill crap is wrong. They’d have to admit that men can be happy with older women, that women don’t becoming unappealing hags the minute they turn 30 (or 25, or 18, or whatever) and hit some imaginary wall. They’d have to admit that men and women aren’t two opposing species that are irreconcilably different. They’re too trapped in their ways to admit those.
