Take stock of this lousy year — and this not-so-great-decade — and/or look forward to the new year. Or talk about whatever. No trolls!
And on an unrelated topic, I do know about that Make Women Great Again conference and will probably do a post about it soon.

Apropos of nothing really; but I know there’s a lot of cat fans here…
Happy Mew Year to everyone!
Speaking of cats in historical buildings, the Alamo’s current official cat is named Bella. Like previous Alamo cats, she is a stray who has been adopted by the Alamo staff and may be observed by visitors:

The last time Mr. Parasol and I were at the Alamo, Miss CC was the cat in residence:

Miss CC was greatly mourned when she left us, but she is buried in a restricted area of the Alamo grounds along with Ruby, the first Alamo cat.

Happy new year all!
For those whose last bit of 2019 stunk, my deepest condolences. Losing pets and/or people is tough, and the world in general kinda keeps being on fire.
Literally in some cases.
My 2020 seems off to a decent start; my dog and I are relatively healthy, I got to play with a friend’s kittens, and I’m making real food in a crockpot for the first time in a while. 🙂
2019 can get in the bin, for various reasons. My mum says that 2020 has a nice solid feel to it, and I’m choosing to believe her because she’s wise and because I need to.
oh please please please please yes
My cat has his butt resolutely planted in my face.
Topic suggestion, David: Sol Invictus has just been arrested and the charges are incredibly serious, including domestic violence-related kidnapping.
@Crip Dyke: I particularly like the comment on that Twitter thread which remarks on how people like this usually have a history of domestic violence before they openly go full Nazi or become a mass shooter: “Punching down begins at home”.
@Snowberry, I seem to remember reading that domestic violence is as reliable or more an indicator of terrorist activity as most of the flags usually used by law enforcement (such as membership of proscribed organisations) and that it’s (unsurprisingly) many orders of magnitude more relevant than religion or ethnicity. I haven’t kept tabs on where, but I bet that David and people here have proper info.
Happy new year, everyone ! A l’an que ven que se siam pas mai que siguem pas mens !
Happy New Year, errybody! I drawded a thing!

@Snowberry:
The Ferengi apparently agree. Rule of Acquisition #300: “Exploitation begins at home.”
I wonder if Trump will claim Fox reporters are hard left and out to discredit him; like he did with that Christian paper that had a go at him.

Small potatoes in the grand scheme of things I suppose; but we won our court case that Ethical Veganism in is a protected belief. That means that under our Equality Act, ethical veganism is a protected characteristic; so it is now unlawful to discriminate.

@Alan Robertshaw
Congrats on winning your case.
Congrats indeed. It’s not something people should be able to discrimate on in business.
