Incels cry foul after the US Army warns service members about possible incel attacks on Joker movie screenings

Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker

By David Futrelle

In a remarkable memo obtained by io9, the US Army warned service members of a possible plot by “involuntary celibate (“incel”) extremists [to] replicat[e] the 2012 theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, at screenings of the Joker movie at nationwide theaters.”

The memo, supposedly based on “disturbing and very specific chatter” on the dark web, urged soldiers planning to attend the movie to scout out two possible escape routes from theaters and to be prepared to “run, hide [or] fight” if, you know, someone gets up and starts shooting.

Presumably this advice applies to everyone else planning to attend this particular film as well. Unfortunately, the “very specific” dark web chatter wasn’t specific about which particular theater or theaters would be targeted by the hypothetical shooter or shooters. so I guess just be careful wherever you happen to go.

On Incels.co — the biggest online incel hangout outside of Reddit, where the regulars talk and joke openly about carrying out similar attacks all the time — commenters are crying foul, complaining that it’s unfair to incels for the Army to warn anyone about possible attacks by incels. Even though the people engaged in the “disturbing and very specific chatter” that led to the warning were apparently incels and the movie in question apperently portrays the Joker as something of an incel.

“Huh…we raise our voices a little and everyone loses their minds, imagine if we actually do something,” wrote an extremely prolific Incels.co commenter called JeffGoldblumInTheFly, with more than 6000 comments to his name, apparently forgetting about all the times incels have done “somenthing.”

So this is how normies want it, they won’t help us, they won’t try to change this rotten society to welcome us just a little, no… they will create narratives to make us monsters, they will make people believe we are the next ISIS, even tho all the attacks and mass shootings had nothing to do with incels, but someone need to be the scapegoat, might as well use the ugly one, right?

A commenter called wizardcel, identifying himself as a “transager, lolicon and anti [age of consent] advocate,” added

hahahaha. Guys who can’t get laid are extremists, What a time to be alive. It’s like we’re living in an alternate reality.

A commenter calling himself feces demanded that the military take action against … young girls.

To the intelligence officials reading this comment in the board room, can you take action on the degeneracy young girls are taking part in? Why cant our modern nation ensure a hard working young man gets the chance at creating a family and having someone to love?

In another thread on the same topic, the incels.co regulars blamed the media for writing about incels in the first place.

“Just lol, at this point it just feels like the media actively want [a shooting] to happen and are desperately pushing this idea to get someone to do it,” wrote one site mod.

Other incels took this idea and ran with it, predicting that the media or some other mysterious “they” would soon stage a “false flag” shooting hoax.

“They are tempting fate and for a socially inept and mentally ill individual to be their Scapegoat so they can demonize all Men further,” wrote FlyFace.

Wouldn’t surprise me if there was a False Flag at this rate.. imo it is all their fault anyway.. reporting in such an inflammatory way should be illegal for it will lead to violence. How people let the scummy media do this is beyond me..

But not all incels were willing to play the victim. Alongside FlyFace’s (and others’) predictions of media-organized “false flags,” other commenters joked about shooting “normies.” One of the commenters in the thread even has James Holmes — the actual Aurora shooter — as his avatar.

In yet another thread on the topic, one commenter went further, joking about combining

the existential nihilism and rage of incel jokERrism with the blind moralism and pathological altruism of ecofacism. Let us sweep across the EaRth exterminating the breeders.

“Uprising when?” joked someone called ERadicator, the capital E and R a reference to incel mass murderer Elliot Rodger (as were all those capital ERs in the previous quote).

Elsewhere on Incels.co today, the regulars celebrate their love for misogynist mass killer Marc Lepine, praise Hitler as a “legend,” and fantasize about making “femoids” (women) miserable.

I would be happy to never have to write another post about an incel mass murder. Unfortunately I doubt we’ll be so lucky. Incel ideology is so poisonous, and does such damage to those it infects, that further incel shootings are inevitable; the logic of the incel ideology pushes desperate young men to violence, against others or against themselves. You can’t blame the media, or the army, or the Jews for that. That’s on the incels themselves.

So I have to ask: what’s a “tankie”?

It’s “thank you” spoken by someone with a WICKED accent….

(now that I’ve expended my meager allowance of benevolent sarcasm, I’ll let others give you the correct analysis)

A tankie is slang referring to a modern day authoritarian leftist or Stalinist who supports gulags and Soviet totalitarianism. Most modern day communists don’t support this, and are quick to state that they don’t. Tankies do support gulags and totalitarianism.
The commenter who has used the names “Disciplinarianism_Not_Authoritarianism” and “rainwoman0451” is clearly one, as they are suggesting putting Trudeau in a forced labor camp and euthanizing children. I’m not sure if they actually believe these things or if it’s a right wing troll trying to play gotcha. Either way the talking points are typical of tankies.

Anyway, it’s looking more and more like Trump is for real going down. The NYT has resorted to calling 6 MAGAs who oppose impeachment swing voters. That’s how little the pro-Trump set has right now. I don’t think gutless establishment can stop it.

The only question is, will the Republican Senate finall ditch him, or will they protect him and go down with the ship? Because this is getting to be a story big enough to penetrate the brains of the low information voters.

@Gaebolga tankies are authoritarian communists. To cite Rational wiki’s definition, which is the best definition:

“Serious devotees of Soviet apologetics are referred to by the derogatory epithet tankies, after the tanks that rolled into Hungary when they dared leave the Soviet Union’s loving hugs.”

… I didn’t see any overt Stalinist apologism, but I think Surplus is referring to rainwoman, and her bad idea to turn the incels into janissaries.

I think they’re going to hold on. Pretty much all of them say that now. Maybe a few will grow spines and vote to impeach, but I still doubt that many will. It will reflect very poorly on the Republican Party either way, but if they vote to impeach they’ll look slightly better than if they don’t.
My hope is that this is the beginning of the end for Republicans in America, and that Trump drags the party to its final grave. It’s just rather surreal to watch him unravel so quickly.

I am the first to admit that I am terrified of incels, they reduce me to a mess. However I find your “solution” to be just as bad as they are. Shame on you. You need to reflect on yourself.

This is at least the second time that rainwoman/displinarianism has made explicit comments advocating violence, in direct violation of the comments policy. I’m contacting David.

I’m just stuck on the guy who thinks that there would need to be some kind of “false flag” operation to give the media a way to make incels look like nasty, obnoxious, vile, violent trash. Their own comments, attitudes and general behaviour do that just fine on their own, never mind the periodic bouts of out-and-out violence from avowed members of their “community”.

Anyway, it’s looking more and more like Trump is for real going down.

no way in hell… even if they have NO DEFENSE for what he’s doing, the legislature is NEVER gonna impeach and convict him.

Hasn’t the NRA been trying to say for the past few decades that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”? I imagine in this case they’d reverse course.

I think we all know that McConnell will definitely block it because he has absolutely no shame whatsoever and, given that his own polling shows he is likely to lose his own election, he has nothing left to lose.

Moreover, if Trump is impeached, it might give credence to McConnells own participation in the Russian scandals and other corruption he has engaged in. So he will of course be looking out for himself, even if he has to stand against all other 99 members of the Senate on his own.

Hopefully this entirely destroys the Republican party for generations to come.

I read someone’s article (I forget where) that suggested that Trump’s election was some sort of death burst of the Republican Party and that the party will fade after him. I hope that is true and that the party dies out. I imagine that if he is replaced by a Democrat in 2020, the Republican Party will be rather lost without him, as for the past few years they have simply gone along with whatever he said.

Unfortunately, I think I disagree with this analysis. First of all: liberal journalists and academics have been predicting “the death of the GOP” and/or an “emerging Democratic supermajority” and/or a “permanent blue wave” etc. for over 30 years now. I think they’re wrong, I think they’ve always been wrong, and I think these predictions represent wishful thinking as much as anything else.

Secondly, the GOP establishment brain trust still exists, and mostly still dislikes Trump: they’ve just been grudgingly cowed into submission for the time being. If Trump goes down, they’ll attempt to retake ideological control of the party, likely with at least some success.

(I say “some” because it’s probably true that Trump has permanently changed the party and its base in some respects: I can’t see them becoming immigrant-friendly, and they’ll likely always be the party of white resentment to a greater or lesser degree. But the establishment will mostly be able to work with that.)

re: end of repugnantism…

it doesn’t matter WHAT the Democrat majority is, as long as the repugnican’ts can hold a majority in the jet stream states and the industrial heartland states they’ve gerrymandered… they can lose the popular votes by 10 million and still elect a president and still control the senate

Which, along with all the other voter suppression measures*, is why the predicted Democratic majorities keep not happening.

You can’t just blame it on voter suppression. Or rather: if you do, then you have to concede that it’s not nearly as strong of a wave as the liberal pundits and academics have been predicting for over a generation.

My criminal justice professor has a running joke that when you don’t know the answer to a question, just say the War on Drugs because it’s always right. The WoD has had so many far-reaching consequences in so many areas that we still haven’t determined the full extent of the damage.

Maybe, but they’ll have lost much of the base. Once you go full-blown white supremacist, it’s hard to crawl back under that rock. MAGAs aren’t going to turn out for Mitt Romney or Bill Weld the way they did for Trump. Hatred is addictive, and cults of personality are non-transferable.

I’m curious how much stronger a wave you want? People are/were systematically stripped of the right to vote through the War on Drugs (and being criminals + therefore no longer allowed to vote in some states), gerrymandering, closure of voting places, voter ID laws (which prevent many people, including many Native Americans, from voting), etc etc etc.

All that, and he STILL LOST the popular vote by millions of votes.

What does a blue wave look like to you?
