So, you ask, or maybe you don’t, what are the incels on Reddit getting mad about today? Well, at least seventy of them — to judge by their upvotes — are getting pig-biting mad at a cartoon by a woman who enjoys having her hair pulled during sex.
Specifically, this cartoon:
Posting the cartoon in the Braincels subreddit under the thoughtful title “All girls grow up into degenerate whores who crave to be dominated by Chad,” the incel Redditor who calls himself ASS_F declared:
All this because of … hair pulling? Hair pulling.
Jesus, dude, hair pulling is one of the most garden-variety fetishes out there, so common it barely even rates as a fetish. In terms of “degeneracy” it’s probably up there with “earlobe nibbling” or “nipple pinching.”
But, apparently trying to prove to the world that they can get mad about literally anything, some of the commenters in the thread were less angry about a cartoon character who enjoys getting her hair pulled than they were about the hypothetical cartoon character they imagined was doing the pulling — assuming that the (possibly) Asian woman in the cartoon was dating a Chadly white dude rather than an Asian guy of similar attractiveness.

According to incels my parents would never have gotten together.
My mum looked really stunning as a teen.
My dad was gangly, short, thin, had no muscles, and had horrible acne.

You’re one of the antisocial men, not one of the good men. There’s nothing amoral or hypocritical about a woman preferring a good man and shunning an incel.

This, along with many other posts on this blog, gives me the impression that incels are actually disgusted by the idea of having sex with a woman, and are just trying to imagine reasons why that feeling is the woman’s fault; which of course mostly relies on the virgin-whore dichotomy which massively predates them.
Though the main take away if that when they see ANY indication that women are submissive in bed they assume it is vindication for the “All women love Jerks!” narrative. The “NiceGuys(TM)” used to do the same, but of course the incels extend this into a “Female sexuality will Doom us all!” narrative. In reality it is just turning irrational anxiety into a world view. Lookup “Incels Contrapoints” on Youtube, the best explantion of how you can start with common male anxieties and end up with this nonsense. (Of course most of you probably also watch the Contrapoints videos already)

I have long held that incels have never mentally advanced past the age of 12, when everything’s telling them they ought to be wanting to have sex but they’re still kinda grossed out about it because girls are icky.

By the way, I have no idea where dude there is at university: the campus where I teach has a lot of Asian students, especially in the masters’ programmes, and many many many are in couples by the end of the course.
Not always straight het couples: our city’s Pride parade coincides with the start of teaching on the Overseas students induction course, and some of us make sure all the students know it’s there.

Wow, I mean, where to start with this? It’s completely telling about how much they lack any concept of relationship dynamics and the disdain they have for women’s sexual agency. When I read the first post, I was confused at first as I figured that hateful assholes would be in to dominance/submission kinks if it meant they were the dominant ones, but as the bile flowed, it started to mesh with the rest of their awfulness, as they’re under the impression that any woman deriving pleasure from submission is a sign of the “degeneracy” of the gender as a whole. But what they really hate is that women have any choice in who it is that gets to do the hair pulling (or as Bina pointed out, if they get to do it at all). From what I understand*, dominant/submissive relationships are built on a deep abiding trust and require that trust to derive pleasure in a manner safe for both parties. Whatever submission is symbolized by the pulling of hair, it’s one that is consented to by a partner seeking that pleasure and done with the goal of shared pleasure in mind, it’s not done with contempt for the pull-ee on the part of the pull-er and that’s what these guys are unable to wrap their heads around.
*Note: I know nothing about BDSM, so if I get any of this wrong, feel free to straighten me out.
