Men Going Their Own Way are as bad at Venn diagrams as they are at understanding women

By David Futrelle

The Men Going Their Own Way subreddit is filled with a lot of discussion that go something like this:

Why are women on a pedestal when we are the superior gender? How did this all get so backwards?

Feminism and a bunch of retard males who allowed women to be viewed as some goddess.

Yet the level of discourse that goes on amongst MGTOWs on Reddit and elsewhere does not exactly provide robust evidence for the alleged superiority of men.

I mean, these guys are seriously obtuse, and not just about women.

Consider this attempt at a Venn diagram, posted to the MGTOW subreddit by a fellow with the lovely moniker “C*ntplainer,” and intended as a sort of funny overview of the relationship between women and assorted types of men. Then consider that this diagram got 100 upvotes from Reddit’s MGTOWs, with one commenter declaring that “this is gonna be a classic.”

As you no doubt have noticed, this Venn diagram isn’t actually a Venn diagram at all. It’s more like a cargo cult version of a Venn diagram. Sure, it’s got overlapping circles and captions like a real Venn diagram, but they don’t represent overlapping sets. I mean, Mr. Plainer surely isn’t suggesting that some Chads are also Tyrones, and that some of these Chad/Tyrones are also women.

No, as best as I can tell, the overlapping circles represent some sort of interaction, with captions showing what someone from one or the other group involved in the interaction might say about it, at least in the minds of MGTOWs if not in the real world.

But even then it doesn’t follow any sort of logic. Who is supposedly getting genital warts from whom? Are Chad and Tyrone having sex with the same woman, who’s screaming “fuck me, yes!” Or are they fucking each other, too, with either Chad or Tyrone doing the screaming?

Also, why aren’t the incels overlapping with school shooters? It’s all a bit confusing.

C*ntplainer also posted this Venn diagram that actually is a Venn diagram, more or less. Alas, it’s also pretty stupid, if not quite as monumentally stupid as his other contribution.

Still, I’m pretty sure that neither any robber nor any woman has ever uttered the sentence “I am strong and independent but you support me.”

All this reminds me of what may be the greatest Venn diagram of all time, which I believe was the work of comedian Joanna Bradley.

Absolutely nailed it. And, obviously, it’s equally accurate if you replace “Men’s Rights Activists” with MGTOWs. That’s just science.

We Hunted the Mammoth is independent and ad-free, and relies entirely on readers like you for its survival. If you appreciate our work, please send a few bucks our way! Thanks!

MGTOW understand Venn Diagrams better than Scott Walker (ex-governor of Wisconsin) does. So yeah?

Also, the intersection of Chad and Tyrone is, obviously, a hunky Latino named Javier.

I propose a revolutionary theory for this diagram: maybe instead of people named Chad and Tyrone, they meant Chad (a country) and Tyrone (a county in North Ireland)? And the intersected space is actually wonderful example of Afro-Irish community based around really consummate sex?

Completely OT, but I have a question for the Toronto-inhabiting commenters here:

A friend of mine is going to be in Toronto for a conference in the next couple of weeks, and he’s rather excited about the fact that pot is now legal in Canada. He read somewhere that Toronto has actually resisted the legalization, and is wondering if it would be legal for him to get and use pot while he’s there.

I couldn’t find the source for this, and he doesn’t remember where he read it.

So, is it legal to buy and use pot in Toronto?

In this case, literally asking for a friend. 😉

I’m from Hamilton, not Toronto, but the laws are the same province-wide, so…

Currently, if your friend is in Toronto for a conference, it would be very easy but illegal to get weed. To buy it legally it has to be through the government and that’s all through the mail. For some reason. There are (a lot of) dispensaries, but they aren’t legal and get raided every so often. I don’t know anyone who’s been caught by one of these raids (although I know plenty of people who regularly go to dispensaries) so I couldn’t tell you about the consequences of being there when it happens. I think you get a minor fine?

That said, there are supposed to be legal Ontario dispensaries opening in April, but I think there’s only supposed to be a few dozen, and I don’t know when in April.

tl;dr it’s super easy to get weed in stores in Ontario, but it’s not legal and there is a non-zero chance you have to deal with some asshole police officers.

@ Carolyn

Thank you for the info!

And Hamilton is quite a nice little town; I spent 9 months working there back in the ’90s, and loved it. Thanks for reminding me of it!

Because it goes without saying?

@Scanisaurus:

The whole “they are so pure and kind and needs to be sheltered” shtick, you know which group it also applies to? Children, and we don’t let children participate in public life or decide over their own lives.

Not to mention that setting children up as repositories of innocent purity leads to giving them the mushroom treatment–which tends to be the opposite of protecting them: consider some poor kid brought up in studied abstinence-only ignorance who has no vocabulary to describe what Pastor Pedobear or Coach Groper’s been doing.

I suspect our wonderful diagram creator is of the libertarian persuasion given his linkage of government and robbers. After all libertarians have the odd idea that goods and services are not legitimate if they come from government. Not to mention that “Do what I say or I’ll hurt you.” fits in with the libertarian idea of “Initiation of force.”

Scanisaurus: I know for a fact they sure as hell don’t think of WoC as pure and virginal beings to be protected.

You know what? Never mind. That’s actually any woman who has actually had “teh sex”.

This is a Venn diagram as drawn by someone who has perhaps heard of Venn diagrams by rough description! Or maybe they’ve seen Venn diagrams, know that words and circles are involved in it somehow, and just winged it!

So hot threesome with Chad and Tyrone, and when she gets together with the cucks and orbiters they all give each other gifts? So the only person losing out here is the pissy incel since he can’t play nice. Oh well.

@Chris Oakley:

Just a hunch, but I’m guessing massive consumption of alcohol played a part in the creation of this particular Venn diagram.

How many times does this need to be said? Being drunk is not a justification or excuse. A decent human being does not, on downing a skinfull, suddenly decide that they hate women and everyone who interacts with women. Or try to convey that worldview with an infographic.

Indeed, this is the reason why it’s my firm opinion that parents should’t be able to opt their children out of sex ed for any reason whatsoever and homeschooling has no more place in a civilized country than child brides or forcing boys to kill a large predator to prove their manhood and the only legal excuse for withholding a child from public schooling should be if they are so severely chronically ill a professional doctor is willing to guarantee that they cannot physically leave their home, and even then the child should always be given a tutor that isn’t a close relative.

And similarly I’m vehemently opposed to religious schools, because I’ve heard enough horror stories of rampant abuse and indoctrination from other countries, and in my own homeland it’s lead to either Saudi-funded wahabists enforcing gender apartheid and honor culture on their students or Jehova’s witnesses teaching children that blood transfusions and homosexuality will land them in hell.

@Newt, I think CO might have meant that alcohol impaired the diagram maker’s judgment such that he thought it made sense to express his hateful worldview in this fashion. Not that alcohol induced the worldview itself, just the ineptitude of the diagram.

Seems like lot of people do not understand what mgtow implies. mgtow essentially puts men’s interests above anything else. Men do their own things, be independent (from government or any other entitity), have a lot of friends, do a lot of hobbies, stay away from crime and be helpful to society. While they are friendly to the opposite gender (as they should), they will never take a risk that the opposite gender in anyway will take the men’s earned wealth as hostage. So no marriage and no cohabitation as the laws of the land are stacked against men, should the relationship go south. And another thing, mgtowers don’t care what others think of them in spite of the negative rhetoric out there. You agree with mgtowers? Fine. You don’t agree with mgtowers? Fine. Because…they go their own way!

Be nice if they actually did instead of bitching about how horrible women and marriage is for the rest of us. Sugar I don’t think you understand what MGTOW is. Honey I don’t think you remotely understand that part of their “interest” is harassing and insulting women. either that sugar, or your just trying to be willfully ignorant.

@Laini. Salty, I know what MGTOW is and you assumption that I wouldn’t know is silly on your part. And I also know I am not one of them. I also know the Pence rule and as a conservative (!!) married man, I follow that rule pretty much. While there are elements in MGTOW that are unacceptable, like the ideas of hunting underage girls to name one thing, I generally respect the group of men who have decided that marriage/cohabitation is not a good thing for them, and want to make their own life. Why can’t you accept that? The number of women I am “close” to I can count on one hand, the rest I keep far away. If you avoid the puddles, you don’t get wet, and the Pence rule has done miracles for my career. Isn’t it funny that when a woman wants to stay single, she is strong, independent and feminists love it, but when a man wants to remain a bachelor, he is considered “incomplete” and has to “man up”. If women are represented by a bowl of 9 toxic M&M’s and one good one, my wife is the good one. Women nowadays are not marriage material, certainly not the Western women. Should my wife die for whatever reason, there won’t be another one and my kids are with me on that one.
Unto you your opinion, unto me mine. Have a good day.

Men can not want to get married and that’s fine. They can do whatever they want with their lives. But when you come in here and start talking about how women are trash and their not worth love or marriage. Then there’s a problem. Keep your shit to yourself. Keep living your life without women. I have very few men in my life that I’m not related to. I won’t lie, I don’t trust men. I don’t be alone with them, I will always feel safer around a woman then a man. That’s fine. I don’t go around talking about how men are monsters because I know they aren’t. Also I hope your wife doesn’t die any time soon and if you don’t want to remarry that’s fine as well. My fiancé could get blown up or shot, or simply die of sleep exhaustion. That’s the risk I pay for being a military spouses and I wouldn’t want anyone other then him either. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to be married or not wanting to remarry. Don’t come in here sugar and act like that’s what I said.

This right here, this is the problem. This misogynistic, and really you sound like your a grown ass man. You don’t need a 20 year old woman to explain to you how this is rude and wrong. Really bruh. I mean really fam, this is what you come up with to own me. Is basically proving the fucking post I posted about how MGTOW can’t stop insulting women. This is like when you call a black person one of the goods ones. Say that all the rest are bad. Unless you’ve been fire from ever job you’ve ever had, you don’t need me, someone who is barely an adult to explain to you why this is wrong. Pull your head out of your ass sugar, it’s meant for better things.

I also know the Pence rule and as a conservative (!!) married man, I follow that rule pretty much.

Mike Pence handpicked convicted felon and friend of human rights abusers Paul Manafort to work on the Trump campaign. He believes in torturing queer kids.* If you are in any kind of position of authority at your job, the Pence rule is illegal discrimination.

Nice role model you’ve got there.

* Yes, making queer kids go to conversion therapy is fucking torture.
