It’s a question asked over, and over, and over, and over, and over again on Tik Tok:
So why do good girls like bad guys?
I had this question for a real long time
I’ve been a bad boy and it’s plain to see
So why do good girls fall in love with me?
I guess that’s technically two questions. Sadly, despite the hundreds of excruciating Tik Tok videos devoted to the subject, these questions have ever been satisfactorily answered.
Until now, that is. And the answer comes from an old friend, the weirdo racist-who-says-he’s-not-a-racist YouTube “philosopher” Stefan Molyneux.
If you’re wondering what war he’s talking about, apparently (at least in Stef’s imagination) it’s some sort of global race war with civilized white people on one side and damn dirty immigrants on the other.
In case you haven’t noticed, Stef’s not a big fan of immigration, or immigrants, or, as far as I can tell, anyone whose skin is a bit less pale than his.
He’s much more fond of his fellow whites, or at least the minority of them who agree with his racist, xenophobic blather.
Unfortunately, as Stef sees it, a lot of white ladies out there are race traitors in the race war.
White dudes, meanwhile, are apparently destroying the cultural vitality of their race by giving in to the seductive lures of … smart phones and soy lattes.
No soy for Stef! Indeed, he seems to be preparing for the new bad boy order by trying out some bad boy looks for himself. Not sure they’re completely working.
I dunno, dude, these seem pretty low-effort to me. At least take off your shirt. The one thing I’ve learned from watching way too many of those Tik Tok videos is that bad boys just hate shirts.
We Hunted the Mammoth is independent and ad-free, and relies entirely on readers like you for its survival. If you appreciate our work, please send a few bucks our way! Thanks!
David! Do not advise him to take off his shirt. We need as much barrier between him and us as possible. Even a flimsy layer of cotton t-shirt is better than nothing.
That chain mail hood is at the Royal Ontario Museum. Iāll have to make sure they have washed it recently before my kids put it on again.
I end up in the occasional debate about historical accuracy in fiction. I always have to raise a wry eyebrow that people who argue 6% non white immigration is some sort of white genocide and we must shut the borders, won’t accept that Elizabethan London (bigger proportionally non white population than now) or the Roman Legions (at least 10% non white even on the European frontier) weren’t multi cultural, and therefore featuring a black or brown person in these settings is somehow pandering.
Yes, racist white man, nothing is sexier than showing you dont even know how to wear a chain coif right. Please increase the amount of head injuries you receive in this so called war you believe is coming and have definitely shown you are not ready for… That is definitely a real turn on…
Nope. In times of war, I’d still rather be around reasonable than aggressive people.
oh my gosh yes Alan, it’s ridiculous. It upsets me to no end that they believe the fairy tale that culture mixing and race mixing is new. Saying that, in the english language no less, reveals such a lack of understanding that it beggars belief.
cat update
Jessie vet has recommend to me that I get him a lower little box, like you guys did and said I should put them both upstares and down stares and especially in the bedroom that he’s having the issues with. She also said to feed him some wet cat food for older kitties and maybe some senior kitty broth. No idea how I’m gonna do that since I have a 3 year old cat to look out for as well. They want to do some other test that I don’t have the money for right now so its crossing fingers and maybe doing some savings. She sounded confident that he’s just having issues because he’s old and told me like people cats lose mobility as they get older. She also told me older cats need more reassurance which is why he’s much more of a cuddler now then what he used to be. She also reassured me he could see fine because I was worried because when I turn out all the lights at night he start meowing for a couple hours and I thought it was because he couldn’t see. He has lost wieght but she told me that was normal for older animals. He hopefully will have a few more years with us before old age takes him away.
@ Scildfreja UnnyĆ°nes,
I’m a language teacher, and one of my favourite things to show my students is the origins of many English words and what that can tell us about the interactions of different cultures. No cultural mixing — what?!
Lol, proving my language skill. That was meant to say “a French-language teacher”!
@ scildfreja
Half the burials on the 4-5,000 year old Salisbury Plain cemetery sites are of people from outside the British Isles.

This has always been one of my favourite stories (well, since I first came across it)
One thing that is interesting about the term ‘bad boy’ is how it’s female equivalent really only refers to sexual conduct and the wearing of ‘provocative’ clothing.
It doesn’t refer to criminality in women at all, unless it’s about prostitution. Whereas a bad boy is the petty criminal, the thug, the hoodlum.
I cannot see how that sort of man is going to be of any use at all in times of conflict: poor impulse control, tendency to see women as objects, hardly renowned for rational thinking.
@Bookworm, I know right? It’s all so fascinating, what we can dig out of etymology. A cow in the field (Saxon) becomes a beef at the butcher’s (Norman French) engraves rule of Normans over England into the very language!
@Alan, I love that story. Dyuersite has been with us, thouh certainly is is harde to playse euery man.
Lol! I may use that! In the past I’ve enjoyed making them read chunks of the Chanson de Rolande and translate it into modern French (and then we talk about its function as a propaganda-piece, but that’s another lesson…). It is definitely an exercise in translation, which always surprises them.
I must admit, on the other thread I was really hoping that Hetneo’s first language would be French, so I could see if that made him any more comprehensible.
Turning back to the creepy subject of this article, I think the scariest thing for me about dudes like this is that I almost certainly walk right past their sort many times in the course of my week, and there’s no way for me to tell who they are (well, unless they say stuff to me, which happens). I feel constantly on my guard whenever I’m outside, because I never know if I’m around one of these haters, and if this will be the day he decides to move from words to actions. It’s so…fucking exhausting.
I love that Caxton actually uses the word diversity. Early medieval alt-right must have been fuming. Although they didn’t really have any way of putting that in print I guess.
The multi root English thing crops up when people ask what’s the difference between unlawful and illegal. Nothing, just depends on whether the law (cause that’s what they both mean) originated in the Danelaw or Norman England.
@ Alan,
This puts great pictures in my mind. ? Also, my last comment was directed at you! A lot of posts came up in the time it took to write it.
This author writes about the intersections of medieval studies and feminism. I’ve just discovered her, so have only skimmed, but her blog looks interesting. For the history bluffs on WHTM:

Ugh, sorry to hear about your, unfortunely justified, fears about who might be lurking in everyday sight. Brexit here emboldened a lot of similar ilk too. But FWIW, and with the usual proviso that no-one is obligated to defend themselves and it’s alway the bad guy’s fault alone, I don’t know if this is any use to you or any of your mates?

@ Scildfreja:
Very true. The English words for the animals are from those who were tasked with raising them, while the words for their meat is from those who got to eat them.
Cow/cattle v beef
Sheep v mutton
Pig v pork
Chicken v poultry
*history BUFFS! Aaaaa, spellcheck!
I think I need to go to sleep…
Hi Lainy, is it possible to have a small night light plugged in for your cat? Might be worth trying, to cut down on the miawing when you are trying to sleep! The other thing is – can you get him a bit of sheepskin? That will be a good mum substitute for him, because he can knead the wool and put his face in it – he may bliss out happily. I have obtained sheepskin rugs/offcuts from car boot sales, op shops, cut open a sheepskin boot, and even got a ‘baby’ one once, made for babies to lie on, when the baby had outgrown it. Of course your other cat may want one also!
@ Alan,
THANK YOU. That makes me feel better. As does just being able to vent a bit here. Tbh, I live in Canada now, which is a lot better than when I lived in Europe; mostly here it’s just nasty comments. But that video is great, and makes me feel more…capable, I guess. I’ll show it to my daughter as well; she’ll appreciate it.
Ok, now I REALLY need to go to sleep!
@Lizzie
I have been leaving the kitchen light on for him. He still seems to be having a bit of trouble, but he doesn’t run into things and such. He can see just fine its just for some reason it’s started to bother him. I also leave shoes out for him. He’s always liked to stick his head in and snuggle shoes so that’s been keeping him claim slightly.
They love violence, don’t they? It’s always war or civil unrest they look forward to. Especially since they look forward to violence against women, the lgbtq+, minorities without consequences because…. war. You see it in mgtows with their hopes for an apocalypse and the white supremacist alt right with their hopes of being “heroes saving the dying white race”
Its a fantasy for them to think theyll be like a glowing protagonist in a movie.
Also it’s awful to see Cernovich with his daughter from the last post.. I hope when she grows, she’ll see the hatred her father has for her entire gender and live a nice life away from him.
Bienvenue au Canada! <3
