The Trump stans in Reddit’s The_Donald have responded to the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in what, for them, is an extremely on-brand manner — by making weird and creepy jokes about sexual assault and some sort of forced inspection of Dianne Feinstein’s vagina.
Here’s the post in question, which The_Donald’s inhabitants collectively decided to give more than 2000 upvotes:
Naturally, The_Donald’s resident wits enthusiastically responded with rape and vagina jokes of their own. Because what is more hilarious than jokes about an 85-year-old woman’s vagina?
The Chinese spy thing is a reference to reports that an alleged Chinese spy worked in Feinstein’s office unbeknownst to her; I’m not sure how shawnesty got from there to Star Trek.
Of course, with the topic of vaginas on the table, there were the requisite jokes about how HAW HAW HER VAGINA LOOKS LIKE A ROAST BEEF SANDWICH.
More than a few decided that Diane Feinstein penis jokes were somehow even more hilarious than their compatriots’ already extremely hilarious Diane Feinstein vagina jokes.
And they say that conservatives can’t be funny!
They say that because it’s true.

Well, in ST:TOS and the movie sequels, the Klingons were roughly analogous to American relations with the Russians and the Romulans were roughly analogous to American relations with the mainland Chinese.
Roughly.
I think that would be giving shawnetsy way way too much credit, though.
So, the Republican party is just blatantly the pro-rape party now, isn’t it?
Those white women who vote Republican seriously need to wake the fuck up. Right wing men hate all women. Even the ones in their own circles.
All the Anita Hill comparisons are interesting. People bring up how it’s a different time, there are women in the judiciary committee now, and politically it will be harder to get away with publicly trying to destroy Christine Ford on live television if the hearing goes forward next week. That’s all true. But what nobody is saying is that the women who vote sometimes or often for the GOP will be a lot more likely to relate to Ford than Hill. Because of race. It’ll be interesting to see what the GOP is willing to risk and how far they will go for Kavanaugh.
Anyway, this John Oliver interview with Anita Hill from a couple of months ago was some eerie foreshadowing. It’s really good and those who haven’t watched, should
Conservatives think that because something is offensive it is funny and/or true,
it is true that something true and/or funny can be offensive but thats correlation not causation.
Meanwhile, Stormy Daniels is giving us all the details we knew we didn’t want.
Trigger warning for… well, descriptions of Trump’s genitals.

@Rabid Rabbit
Urp. Well, *that* visual is gonna haunt me for the rest of my life… urgh…
(Sorry for the neutral tone and the generalisations, but it makes it easier to write about this)
Normally if your candidate is acused of a crime (or otherwise indicted in a scandal) and you still want to support him or her you have 2 options:
1. You must be sure enough that it isn’t true.
2. You deciede that the crime/scandal is even if true not enough to disqualify your candidate.
In this case 2 is an option that should be imposible to take. And for 1 from what little I know of the case would be a hell of risky move. (The acusation sounds believable)
Normal moves would be
1. nominate a different candidate
2. don’t ellect kandidate 1 until you can be sure what is the truth.
3. If you even have a little fear that your candidate is a criminal no way in hell should he be elected.
Kavanaugh should never be a nomine for the Supreme Court and everyone who even thinks about giving this job to him should never be in a position of power.
We seem to be coming to a point where all allegations of sexual assault are to be disbelieved and ridiculed, and the accusers stomped, if, and only if, we happen to think the accused will give us what we want politically, or if we like people who like the accused.
True or false, evidence or not, doesn’t come into it at all.
It’s worrying.
DiFi is one of those people that just baffle me to the point I have a love-hate relationship with her. She’s a ridiculous security hawk to the point that she’d have no compunction to trash civil liberties in the name of surveillance, pulls nonsense like this against Kavanaugh’s accuser, yet is a stalwart voice for the LGBT community and against the firearm lobby given how she discovered her boss and her friend shot to death when she was on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
*sigh* Mixed bag, I suppose.
… Coming to? When were we ever not at that point?
I’m expecting a lot of “It can’t be proved/it wouldn’t stand up in court/statute of limitations” crap.
As someone smartly pointed out, though, this isn’t a trial. It’s a job interview.
Off topic, but y’all might be interested in this:

Conservative men, (and a lot of otherwise “liberal” men) don’t want it to be “untrue”, they want it to be OK
It has always been
@Rabid Rabbit;
You do realize, none of us will EVER be able to play Mario again… without seeing… THAT…. Right?
@Weird (and tired of trumplings) Eddie
Why do you think I did it? *Evil grin* (See, I’m safe because I don’t play Mario in the first place.)
HereToOffendIdiots (cute name!) says her vagina “smells distinctly like . . . pickled herring.”
And Techie James (who I’m sure is equally cute) says, “Make her shower!”
Aww, these guys are adorable. It’s sexism and ageism with a touch of anti-Semitism, a dog whistle for their peeps.
@jokester (joekster?)
I read that yesterday. Absolutely amazing young woman who did what she had to do.
Thanks for posting that link!
@ Kat,
There’s a heapin’ helpin’ of transphobia in there too. Of course they graduate from “her vagina is gross” to “actually, she has a penis which is the only thing grosser than a vagina“.
This is why no one wants to have sex with you, guys.
@weirwoodtreehugger: chief manatee
Yep. I now refer to it as the in-bed-with-known-pedophiles political party. Given the doubling down on Roy Moore, I am not at all surprised at Kavanaugh’s character being a feature not a bug of this nomination.
@Tosca
Yeah, these guys seem to think that their own genitals are “awful” in the sense of inspiring awe.
They seem to think that any woman who is confronted with their dangly parts should be “awful” in the sense of filled with awe.
But they seem to think that a transgender woman’s genitals are “awful” in the sense of extremely disagreeable.

??? As far as I’ve heard, she kept the letter confidential until Ford was ready then forwarded it straight to the appropriate authorities – what am I missing?
Nothing. There just always has to be a woman to blame and no female politician can ever have anything good said about her unless there’s an accompanying list of her real and perceived flaws added on.

That comment came based on this: https://www.vox.com/2018/9/14/17861350/dianne-feinstein-supreme-court-brett-kavanaugh-letter-sexual-assault-high-school
The situation is too serious to not raise holy hell about this. As the article says, Ford asked to remain anonymous, not that this shouldn’t be asked of Kavanaugh or the FBI shouldn’t be made aware of it. If Feinstein had another rationale, that’s one thing, but if this story hadn’t been leaked, does that mean she would have sat on it the whole time?
You’re right that my wording was poor; she hasn’t taking action against Ford, but I still consider silence tantamount to protecting Kavanaugh.
So my spouse had the best comment on Kavanaugh.
“When the Trump Administration sends their Supreme Court nominees, they’re not sending their best…
and some, I assume, are good people.”
