Notes from the Civil: Some of the nice comments I get from people who hate me

Men are by nature extremely polite

By David Futrelle

Now that we’re having a lovely national debate about “civility” and how we on the left shouldn’t ever yell at people or call them names, even if they’re literal Nazis, I thought I would share some of the thoughtful comments I regularly get from Men’s Rights Activists, National Socialists, and other gracious gentlemen who sometimes take issue with things I write.

Let us start with a gentleman calling himself Boogerslut, who has some thoughts about my weight:

It’s cute when fat, mediocre men get worked up over misogyny. Many women will remember your efforts.

Thanks!

Balls of Steel offered these lovely compliments:

I googled David Futrelle. Saw him. Everything was clear to me.

Feminist, estrogen-overloaded Soyboy

This nice fellow called Spencer apparently thinks I’m some sort of “hiawatha,” which I guess is a compliment, although I have to confess I have no idea what he means by it.

Wow, what a hiawatha. This feminist moralfagging OP causes MRAs to grow stronger and closer together. The more people hate us the faster we grow, and articles like this feminist bull sh#t just educate us on exactly which buttons to press to make these fat and short red haired feminazis ragequit and burn out from their internet tirades. SJW snowflakes…

One regular commenter whose comments will remain forever in moderation offered this assessment of my leisure activities:

David Footroll is a crotch muppet with a extra side order of scabies. I’ll bet he sits on dildos while fapping to clips of male mantises getting their heads eaten. He is creepy and should not be left around dogs unsupervised, unless you want to see him lie down and open his mouth every time one of them hocks their leg. He exposes himself to the mentally-challenged. He takes rides in hot-air balloons so that he may indulge in his childhood fantasy of being a bird as he shits on windshields.

How did he even find out about the hot-air balloon thing? I always wear my Big Bird suit.

Someone called tuputamulder had this insightful question about my negative reaction to incels hailing Toronto van killer Alek Minassian as a hero:

On a scale from 0 to my vagina is bleeding, how butthurt are you rn, chap?

IMPERIVM_NOW has some words of praise for a recent piece of mine published elsewhere:

Getting published in Broadly must really slay pussy bro

Here’s Man Splainer with some thoughts directed at the commenters here:

I’m a man. I don’t give a crap what you think. I don’t care about your feelings, either. I’m sure the feeling is mutual, bitches. So go fuck yourself. And while you’re at it, blow me.

Yeehaw also has some kind words to share with the commenters:

What a shithole of a page filled with these ugly troglodyte looking ass retards lmao

More praise for the commenters from someone whose name I will keep hidden:

The only thing that anyone around here “deserves” is a goddamned slap in the kisser for being a bunch of piss-idiotic dullards.

And finally, another fellow who shall remain nameless had these kind thoughts about someone connected to this blog:

Go swallow a cheese-grater … you crusty dollop of pungent smegma being suffocated by the warted foreskin of a leprotic gypsy sodomite. Get drunk, pull a trash bag over your fucking repulsive turkey mug, and go rollerblading on a treadmill. I would pay good money to see someone bury you up to your herpes-inflamed maw in dirt and slather your head with peanut butter and bird seed, you serpent-crotched dung dweller. You’re a fucking goodie two shoes moonbat who’s too deaf to hear its own window-shattering screams. I would slap you happily. Screech junky.

I would like to commend all of these lovely fellows for their respectful tone — for as we all know, politeness is the very essence of democracy.

Okay, so. The last one? That’s amazing.

Other than that. Boooooooring. They really are an unimaginative bunch. Number two made me google you, though, so now I have a face in my head when reading whtm, which is always nice! These – dare I say – people do have some uses – apart from being pointed and laughed at.

Oh! My! Gawd! You poor, poor fellow. The upside is that the commentary illuminates how devastatingly on-target you are.

I couldn’t care less about any of these fucking assholes, anymore.

They treat people like absolute shit, and then turn into Emily fucking Post when confronted by the mirror of their own inner rot.

Enjoy your ragegasms, assholes. Burn yourselves out. Please.

Rollerblading on a treadmill sounds kind of fun, actually.

The last one is deffo a Jordan Peterson fanboi.

Paradoxical Intention - Resident Cheeseburger Slut

and articles like this feminist bull sh#t

Can I just mention how it fucking tickles me that he attempted to censor his swear words (the horror! Women can’t hear swears! Our ears will fall right the fuck off!), but he did so so fucking poorly?

Like, if you’re going to use the pound symbol to censor “shit”, then use it for the h, as in “s#it”. If you’re going to censor the “i”, then use an asterisk, as in “sh*t”.

It’s this kind of laziness that really just assures me that none of these dudes are doing anything good for society. Because that would take more effort than writing angry comments on a feminist blog they “happen to disagree with”.

I’m a man. I don’t give a crap what you think. I don’t care about your feelings, either. I’m sure the feeling is mutual, bitches.

So go fuck yourself. And while you’re at it, blow me.

Wait, wait, wait. So, do you want me to “go fuck myself”, or do you want me to “blow you”? Because I can’t do both at the same time, broham.

I mean, in theory, I could blow you while using a dildo, but the only reason I could think of that I would have your dick anywhere near my mouth is to bite down. Hard.

What a shithole of a page filled with these ugly troglodyte looking ass retards lmao

Kyle, is that you? Are you still mad about the pancakes?

I mean, you’re still shit at negging. You don’t know what anyone here (besides David) might look like, so your neg is kinda falling on deaf ears, homeboy.

The only thing that anyone around here “deserves” is a goddamned slap in the kisser for being a bunch of piss-idiotic dullards.

Ah yes, because clearly the way to fix people being, in your opinion, a “dullard” is to resort to violence.

Such intellect. Much smart. Very wow.

So the civility thing, is anyone else starting to think the political and media establishment are starting to fear a civil war? Or some sort of violent resistance developing? Something to shake them out of their comfortable routines and lives?

They can’t possibly be this clueless. If the general public is starting to see that the Trump regime is not normal and is going in the fascist direction, then the people who make their living doing or reporting on politics should be able to see it. I think maybe they know damn well that Trump is an authoritarian, the Republican party leadership is unwilling or unable to stop him, and the illegitimate SCOTUS is not going to provide a check on his power either. So there are two options for establishment Democrats and mainstream media journalists and pundits. They can sound the alarms and fight it with everything they’ve got while they still can. Or they can scold the left for its incivility and hope we’ll be shamed into shutting up, the Trump regime will decide it’s gone far enough and everything will eventually go back to normal. Because Trump is bad but he surely can’t be as bad as Hitler and surely all the harm done to our institutions will be undone, right? That to them, because they’re in such a privilege bubble seems plausible than the alternative, which is that Trump won’t stop until he is stopped and if the checks and balances won’t or can’t function, the resistance will have to become one that won’t stop at non-violent resistance if non-violent resistance won’t work.

People seem to assume that everyone is afraid of Trump. I don’t think they’re afraid of Trump. I think they’re afraid of the people and afraid of what a revolution would bring.

Tangentially related to civility, or lack of, in politics but I just wanted an excuse to post anyway…

Here’s a link to a crowdfunded drama-documentary called “No Man Shall Protect Us”.

Interestingly – on civility – I wrote this on FB last night:

And the time for civility ended when they started ripping babies from mothers and putting them in cages for 22 hours a day, telling the “carers” they were not allowed to comfort them, with a significant proportion of your population (including, apparently, you) being cool with that.

The ONLY rational response now is rage.

That’s a really interesting point, WWTH.

I’ve been laid low with a fever since Friday so haven’t been keeping up with American news as much as I’d like, but I get the impression that calls for civility by establishment figures are less of an act of stupidity and more of an anxiety ritual, for those moments when their world seems to be falling apart.

This isn’t something that is easy to handle for people who identify as being “centrist” or “moderate”, and calling for both sides to be nice to one another isn’t working, so all they can do is panic and try to call for both sides to be nice even harder. The possibility that this time it might not work, is too frightening to contemplate.

Which establishment Democrats haven’t been sounding the alarm and fighting it with everything they’ve got? I’m in a district with multiple heavily contested Democratic primaries and it’s all the ads can talk about. Even David Trone, the out-of-state* billionaire who’s trying to buy a nomination to congress by spending a ludicrous amount on ads for the fucking primary, is spending his ads telling us about how he’s going to go to Washington and stand up to Trump. (His campaign claims it’s ok for him to spend so much money on a campaign cause it’s his own money, not special interests’ money – now where have I heard that before?)

As for mainstream media – I think they’re still smarting from the election. I think they thought they were warning us about Trump during the election, not realizing that all the negative coverage they were giving him was just solidifying the idea in his supporters’ minds that the news media were out to get him, that the news was the enemy. Now, if they step even a toe out of line (I imagine they think), they’ll just be adding more fuel to the fire of the Deep State and the Lying Media slandering Trump. Some of them may realize that they’re going to get tarred with that brush even if they keep their coverage of Trump’s wtfery intentionally restrained, but Bothsideserism runs deep in our press right now, and seems to be their instinctive fallback position.

People seem to assume that everyone is afraid of Trump. I don’t think they’re afraid of Trump. I think they’re afraid of the people and afraid of what a revolution would bring.

I think different people are afraid of different things.

I think individual reporters are more afraid of being the targets of scandal than they are of fascism. Not of Trump or even the government, but of being a public figure who becomes the center of a flurry of news. They saw what happened with Megyn Kelly. They know first-hand what a swarm of life-destroying piranhas the media can be when they catch the smell of scandal; and if they go against the owners of whatever news outlets they belong to, they know they can expect no backup and possibly even lose their jobs for stepping out of line. (News outlets that have already declared against Trump seem to have for the most part treated “civility” with the derision it deserves.)

A scandal hits much closer to home than fascism does. Fascism targets Others first, by design.

As for the owners of the news corporations – well, they’re nearly all old white billionaires. They stand to lose little in a fascist takeover, unless they declare against Trump. A few have done so anyway, and god bless. But it’s much easier to understand the clucking about civility when you remember that the attitudes of news stations are determined by the owners, not by the reporters.

The possibility that this time it might not work, is too frightening to contemplate.

I’ve noticed they’ve completely given up on hoping Trump, the regime members, and his supporters will become more civil. Although they’ve always focused pleas for decency and reaching across the aisle more on the left than the right, they’re now solely asking for the left to be more civil. They might not mean to side with Trump, but by only expecting us to be nice, that is what they’re doing.

Which establishment Democrats haven’t been sounding the alarm and fighting it with everything they’ve got? I’m in a district with multiple heavily contested Democratic primaries and it’s all the ads can talk about.

The Dems are better than they were during the George W Bush administration. They’re mostly not voting with Trump and the Republicans and they are opposing Trump a lot of the time. However, Schumer, Pelosi, and David Axelrod have all did the pleas for civility in the wake of Sarah Sanders getting kicked out of Red Hen and Maxine Water’s comments encouraging more of this type of resistance. The DNC has also been supporting centrist over progressive candidates in a lot of places. They’re still reluctant to run against him too hard. Like I said in another thread, I get why they aren’t running on impeachment. Democratic voters are already energized without the impeachment calls, but such a thing would energize Trump supporters who might stay home because they aren’t similarly fond of Republican congresspeople. I’m okay with them taking it off the table until next year. However, I’m not confident impeachment will ever be on the table unless some Republicans get on board and we all know how unlikely that is to happen. I’m also scared things could get a whole lot worse by November. Trump seems to be accelerating his authoritarianism as Mueller starts to close in with the buzz being that Mueller is getting ready to kick the probe into high gear as we head into fall, shit could really hit the fan before we even have a chance to sweep that blue wave in.

We’ll see. Democrats are getting feistier than I’ve ever seen them. I just hope they’re willing to go as far they need to go to protect democracy.

Absolutely agreed 🙂

Re civility generally, there’ve been some interesting discussions on the Twitters lately on this, along with some not-so-interesting ones. The latter ones tend to misinterpret (deliberately?) the notion of civility as a tool of domination. Lots of satirical “oh yes, politeness is so very oppressive, hur hur!” type comments.
I would’ve thought it was fairly obvious. The treatment of women who have refused to conform to standards of politeness is just one example. And here, Indigenous people are heavily tone-policed and always have been. No-one is claiming that this is oppression by itself; it’s just one aspect of it, hence the word ‘tool’.
This is annoying me, in case it wasn’t obvious 🙂
