TRUMP ANGRY! LAUNCH MISSILES! Today in Tweets, Friday the 13th Edition [UPDATED]

McCabe is Comey! Comey is McCabe! Black is white! Tyranny is freedom!

UPDATE about 5 minutes after this went up: TRUMP ORDERS MISSILE STRIKES ON SYRIA

Here are a few initial reactions to the strikes on Twitter, followed by my original post:

So much going on today.Trump is losing it on Twitter as he contemplates firing Rod Rosenstein — which would basically trigger a constitutional crises — and/or launching what will almost certainly be a disastrous attack on Syria (even by normal US foreign policy standards).

But wait there’s more! Apparently Mueller has evidence that Michael Cohen lied about not being in Prague for a meeting discussed in the Steele dossier. Gosh, that “dodgy dossier” seems to be full of actual true things, while Michael Cohen’s mouth seems to be full of lies. Oh, and Comey started his book tour today. And Trump fucking pardoned Scooter Libby!

The day isn’t even over yet.

Here’s an actual tweet from the actual president today:

And here’s an old Tweet from his dodgy lawyer:

NARRATOR: But he had been to Prague.

Here’s Mr. Cohen today:

Meanwhile, some fans of pretty alt-lite ladies are having a little trouble trying to create artistic tributes to their goddesses:

And here I woke up in a surprisingly good mood.

How is he still president? How the everliving fuck is anybody still supporting him? Especially anybody with anything even approaching political sense?

In general purpose, none bomb them all news …

It’ll come as absolutely zero surprise that Ivanka has been dispatched to represent Trump at the Summit of the Americas in Lima.

@Jules
I have some suggestions.
Volunteering is great, I’ve done it and helped some great people
Support refugee owned businesses (my state has many and yours probably does too)
Write state leadership about supporting them
Listen to them and don’t impose your views of anything on them
Hope these helped

A team from the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) was due to arrive in Douma today, to investigate the alleged CW attack. So I guess that won’t happen now?

Nothing going to change, Assad will say he’s destroyed all of his chemical weapons. Putin will agree and block any investigation. Dotard will find something else to bloviate on on Twitter.

If you’re in the UK, Jules, then CitizensUK is organising “refugees welcome here” events, helping resettle displaced people here, and lobbying MPs to raise the number of refugees we’re taking in from the current shocking less than a hundred to a still-offensively-too-low several thousand.

The UK is a very xenophobic place right now, but that doesn’t excuse us from our basic human duties. We just need to fight harder for it.

Question, though. Alex Jones and the entire alt Reich have been incoherently screaming (more than usual)… That they don’t like Trump anymore. What the hell? I thought the senseless bombing of a random Middle Eastern country was everything they’d been clamouring for?

@SFHC

They love Assad. Trump’s not being consistent enough to their agenda, hence they’re dumping him again, like every other time he’s slipped up and pissed them off, like with net neutrality.

In practice it might mean that Assad himself may fall out of grace soon though, because they’re gonna figure out eventually that he’s not as useful to them as Trump ?

You probably didn’t know this but adding ‘tard’ to another word or name comes from r*tard which is a ableist term.

They haven’t had all Muslims and brown people banned and sent back to the Middle East, once they do that THEN bomb them sky high.

@Fruitloopsie: “Dotard” is a word all in itself:

do·tard
/ˈdōdərd/
noun
noun: dotard; plural noun: dotards

an old person, especially one who has become weak or senile.

It might still be ableist, but not for the reasons you were thinking.

Assad launched a chemical attack on his citizens in April, 2017. The US retaliated by bombing deserted air bases. After giving lots of warning via Twitter.

Is this going to become an annual fucking event?

When you elect a clown president, you get a president clown.

off-topic, Matt Bevin, governor of Kentucky, blames teachers:

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin says children were left vulnerable to harm, sexual assault and drugs as a result of public school closures throughout the state Friday to allow teachers and supporters to protest at the state’s Capitol.

“I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them,” the Republican governor told reporters Friday afternoon, according to CNN affiliate WDRB.
“I guarantee you somewhere today, a child was physically harmed or ingested poison because they were home alone because a single parent didn’t have any money to take care of them.”
Bevin went on to say that “some were introduced to drugs for the first time because they were vulnerable and left alone.”

So, governor (note the lower case “g”), it’s the teachers’ fault that single parents in your state can’t afford day care for their children when school is not in session? It’s the teachers’ fault that children in your state are vulnerable to sexual assault? It’s the teachers’ fault that drug use is epidemic in your state?? It’s the TEACHERS’ FAULT??? This is what passes for analysis among conservatives??

GEEZ, TOO BAD YOUR STATE DOESN’T HAVE A GOVERNOR INSTEAD OF A “governor”.

I saw the Matt Bevins tape yesterday, and there aren’t enough synonyms for ‘contemptuous’ to describe how I feel about his completely stupid position.

Fuck him, and Kentucky, I’m sorry.

There was a South Park episode just before the election with “Mr. Garrison” as trump (I hated the story arc because of the transmisia in the casting of Caitlin Jenner), but it showed Garrison as president, then his mouth got him in trouble and a nuclear war was inevatible. He’s running around the War Room like a scared 5-year-old begging someone to tell him what to do.

I see that coming.

Well, the advice I always got for that particular circumstance was “get under a sturdy table or into the bathtub or a corner of the basement, stick your head between your legs, and kiss your ass goodbye”…

Just read an article on the Titanic (the anniversary is today) and learned of a writer, Jacques Futrelle, who died in the disaster. Any connection?

regarding the Brennan Walker incident, for pity’s sake, he was just knocking on their fucking door!?!?!?!? What is WRONG with us????

watch, the man accused of firing at the boy will claim it was justified because they had heard about a break-in on the block last month…

and the igno-right will say the boy is a “crisis actor” in a staged event designed to gin up sentiment to allow the gumming to take our guns…

the defense attorney will show the surveillance video showing the boy preparing to knock on the door, freeze the vid and say “the ‘perpetrator’ is clearly reaching for the door handle to break in to these peaceful citizens’ home”…

and who the fuck knows what a jury will say….
