Three, three indictments in one! Three former Trump campaign officials are in the hot seat today. Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort is the big name on the list (along with his pal Rick Gates), for such fun things as conspiracy against the U.S. and money laundering. But even more intriguing is the GUILTY PLEA of relatively unknown Trump foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, whom Mueller has presumably flipped, who seems to have been doing some active COLLUDING WITH THE RUSSIANS.
So here’s an open thread to discuss the news and any other indictment fun that transpires today.
NOTE: Sorry to have gone missing for so long. I’m still dealing with a combo of health issues that have made it very difficult to work. Thanks again for your patience and support.
but-but-but hillary!?!?!?
buttery MAILS!!!!
@Victorious Parasol:
As people have been pointing out on other sites, Mueller was also a co-chair of the Enron Task Force that got convictions on most of the big names involved with Enron to start with. (Even if some were overturned on appeal later, and Lay died before sentencing.) He has a history of playing the long game and working his way up from the bottom.

@ Weird:
While at the same time, forgetting how Winston Smith ended up.
That was NOT the original ending…. That was changed during the Clinton Administration by the agents of Soros… er, Goldstein, who then rounded up and burned all the copies of the book in the world and changed everyone’s memories of the old ending by a process called “dream-writing”….
(/s… for those unsure….)
I’m not big on /pol/ but now’s a great time to go soak up some schadenfreude.
Iseult, thank you for the links. Very informative!
This is history in the making; feels like going backstage at the sausage factory.

Ever notice how almost all conspiracy theories go back to Jews?
Its almost as is they were all invented by nazi remnants.
@David
Hope your health improves!
(And not just so we can get more articles.)
@Robert you’re very welcome. This is an exciting and IMO a dangerous time. I have no idea what Trump will try, but his ego will not let him go quietly, I’m afraid.
@F is for Fro
The hushuman and I have deemed the day Trump leaves office, by whatever means, we’re going the hell to our favorite Brazilian steakhouse and chowing down, screw money. THAT will be a day of national rejoicing.
Fivethirtyeight podcast about all of this, if anyone is interested/can sit still for a podcast.
@Iseult the Idle
Agreed. Unfortunately cornered animals are dangerous, especially when they have a lot of low cunning, no morals, and access to weapons. My biggest nightmare would be Trump pulling the same kind of stunt President Clark in Babylon 5 did when he went up against the wall.
@ Bananana
yeah, sounds like the dumpster….
So now Trump have his back to the wall. What will he do ? And will Republicans actually dump him now ?
Well, FWIW, Rand Paul is saying that Trump may simply choose not to run again in 2020. I can see Trump stating that he has done everything the country needed him to do, and now he’s going to walk away because he’s done, and other such fluff. Whereupon he may buy a house in a country where the US has no extradition treaty.
@Weird Eddie
Yeah, that’s what scares me. I could see the Dump pulling a “If I can’t have it, no one else can” stunt too.
CNN International at 9 PST tonight is going to have Seth Abramson on, who is a law professor and has been commenting about this whole thing since the election. Watch it if you can! Also, he’s on twitter and he is ???

And now it emerges that Mueller’s team got a judge to “find a waiver” of Manafort’s attorney-client privilege with regards to fraud, apparently.
This is huge. Basically Mueller’s team convinced a judge that there is sufficient evidence to prove – to a very high standard, this is not a casual move for a judge – that Manafort and/or his attorney used privilege to hide a known and ongoing crime.
Sorry if I’m spam posting, but this is thrilling stuff!
Oh, that would be most unfortunate.
The nightwatch still gives me the heebie jeebies.
Re: Indictments
I truly thought nothing would happen to these cretins, so this is a pleasant surprise.
@David
I really do hope your health is on the up and up.
c’mon, y’all! it’s not “But Her Emails” anymore, it’s “But Her Uranium”!

To get a feel for what the aznidentity subreddit is like, imagine if an Asian version of the Daily Stormer got crossed with /r/incels. It’s not a pretty sight.

One of many powers of anime girls is the ability to not land on your knees when twirling in joy.
Unfortunately for the Trump Administration, all they’re doing is spiraling down.
