Over on the Men Going Their Own Way subreddit, the regulars are lamenting the recent shutdown of a Chinese sex doll sharing service only four days after it opened. (Apparently people thought it was creepy and perverse, or something.)
But not all of Reddit’s MGTOW squad are on board with the whole shared sex doll thing — and not just because of concerns about, er, hygiene. One commenter warns his fellow MGTOWs that those who have sex with a shared doll are basically getting cucked by all the other men who’ve had (or will have) sex with the same doll.
That’s right: the rented sex doll you spent that passionate night with is cheating on you with other guys!
Responding to another commenter who thinks the Japanese will step up where the Chinese have fallen down, davebrain expands upon his accusations of “simpery.”

These attempts to make women sound gross and less than human always end up revealing that their hatred of women is just them turning their self-hatred outwards rather than finding a healthy way to cope with their own issues.
Even their pronouncements that men are awesome and can do and build anything, but its all a scam to enslave men, so they don’t accomplish great things because they’re too smart is just an attempt to explain away they’re own feelings of inadequacy.
This is where toxic masculinity really has them by the short hairs because if they can’t be men and have any vulnerability, any failures, any shortcomings at all, then they can’t ever feel manly. Human beings aren’t perfect. Everyone fails. Everyone has weaknesses. Everyone makes mistakes.
The mgtow cult and it’s conspiracy theory feeds on this fear of being unmanly because it continually reinforces non-male = non-human.
It seems to go:
Men are perfect.
If you aren’t perfect you aren’t really a man.
Anyone not a man is worthless.
If you are a man and yet somehow not perfect, it’s because women have made you that way because as non-men they are evil, conniving and weak.
Not like men.

It keeps reminding me of that role-playing game Paranoia, where everyone is a clone and a spy and clones and spying are illegal, so every player is hiding what they are.

Is it weird that my first thought is that this is probably rooted in homophobia? “Eww, another penis has been there at some point, and by transitivity of penises if I touch it that’ll make me gay! Only one penis can ever touch a thing ever!”
Then again, the other thought I had is that these guys have so thoroughly internalised the idea that women are objects that they can’t turn off their attitudes even when presented with actual objects.
ETA: That said, sharing sex toys (including dolls) sounds incredibly unhygienic and I wouldn’t recommend it regardless.
This is why I believe that in the future, sentient machines should be protected from humans. Machines that think and feel need protection from people like this.
