In the wake of every mass shooting, we hear the inevitable cries from NRA types not to “politicize” the tragedy by pointing out the obvious fact that stricter gun laws would make such tragedies less likely in the future. We watch the trolls and shitlords of the alt-right flood the internet with disinformation and conspiracy theories. These reactions are now as predictable as the reappearance of the sun on the horizon every morning.
The internet’s incels — the bitter fringe-dwellers who consider their “involuntary celibacy” to be a crime against their humanity — have their own predictable responses to such tragedies: they mock the victims as “normies” deserving death — and try as best as they can to adopt the latest mass killer as one of their own.
In the case of last night’s horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas — a massacre that at last count left 59 dead and more than 500 injured — Reddit’s incels did not disappoint on this front. In a number of different threads devoted to the murders, regulars on the Incels subreddit celebrated the death of “normies” and “chads” and even tried to claim that mass killer Stephen Paddock — a man with a girlfriend, and thus decidedly not an incel — was “a depressed and delusional former Chad turned to oldcel.”
For many in the subreddit, the news of the mass shooting was something of an inspiration. In a thread offering faux condolences for the dozens of “normies [who] just got fragged in Las Vegas,” several commenters had similar ideas:

The subreddit’s regulars found it much easier to identify with the shooter.
Still, it’s unlikely that Paddock, a 64-year-old retiree who apparently lived with a girlfriend, will be embraced by incels as another Elliot Rodger, the incel mass murderer celebrated as a “saint” and “supreme gentleman” by this despicable crowd. But that didn’t stop some from trying to posthumously recruit Paddock to inceldom, none more ingeniously than this fellow.
It’s a bit of a reach, given that pretty much the only things we seem to know for sure about Paddock is that he was neither a former Chad nor an incel. I guess the Incels subreddit regulars are a little hard up for, er, “heroes” these days.
Incels will never experience going to a tourist town for tourist things like drinking and socialising? That’s an incredibly low bar to refuse to clear. Doesn’t have to be Vegas; there are tourists towns all over.
They are vile, they cowards, they are hypocrites, they have no empathy, they celebrate the worst aspects of humanity and their entire attitude towards life basically is “If I don’t have sex, everyone deserves to die violently.”
Gee, I wonder why women don’t want to have sex with these incels.
If there’s one group of misogynists I find nauseating more than any other, it’s the incels.

Paddock is being described as “avid” gambler without any particular political or religious affiliations. Whatever his motivation, I doubt it had anything to do with anything that incels fetishize.

Their principles are not what you probably are thinking. They have no moral objection to sex work or anything like that, they just believe that paying for sex is beneath them. So anyway, I’m reading a thread from the incel sub where an incel saw a couple that gave him hope and a good feeling, and the rest of the incels are trying to beat that feeling out of him.

Las Vegas is normie heaven? Really? I’ve been there a lot because my grandparents lived there and then after they died, my mom lived in their house for awhile. I’d describe it more as retiree heaven. Yes, that includes the tourist areas. No one loves slot machines and video poker and golf courses like senior citizens. Sure, there’s plenty of young partiers there too but it’s not exactly like the entire city is the Real World house.
I mean, the shooter was 64 and a regular visitor to the place. Doesn’t that tell them it’s not all young and hot Chads and Stacies?
I feel sorry for incels. It’s an intrusive thought pride rally. They’re depressed, and/or socially awkward and have taken every horrible thing they’ve thought about themselves and built a community around it. It’s toxic. This is just them being angry and bitter, because being angry and bitter is supported and reinforced there. As I said, it’s toxic.

That reminds me of an incident that occurred decades ago. I was in a very bad relationship and couldn’t help but have a jaundiced view of most men. I was in a grocery store and almost ran into another shopper’s cart with my own. This shopper was a not-buff, not-handsome guy, and I had dark thoughts about him, just because. Then this guy gave me a really nice smile. That man and his smile gave me hope.

They’re too in love with their hatred and their anger and bitterness to ever give it up, even for non-sexual forms of entertainment and happiness. Even if they finally did get their ends wet, they would move the goalposts and find a way to spin and pervert it into further rage and bitterness.
I have no capacity to feel sorry for them anymore. They’ve made their own bed of suffering, they can lie in it. I feel sorry for the people who try to get out and whom they they try to drag back into it, and I feel sorry for the casualties inflicted as a side effect of their hate addiction, but I’ve got no energy left to waste on these sad excuses for wasted lives.
