Last night, boy president Donald Trump announced a bold new plan for Afghanistan that wasn’t bold or new or really much of a plan at all. Meanwhile, the Treasury Secretary’s wife yelled at people for being poor, Big Ben stopped bonging, and the day after the big eclipse people are wondering why their eyes hurt.

I was 27 when I first treated an Afghanistan combat vet w PTSD. Now I'm almost 40 and every year it's new kids from the same fucking war.

A rich lady mocked people for being poorer than her and her husband, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
One thing we learned about Louise Linton, wife of Treasury Sec Steven Mnuchin, is that she's just as awful as her husband (h/t @skenigsberg) pic.twitter.com/RCOAFTdCpq

I genuinely didn't ever think I'd see a more repulsive exhibition of white privilege than Jared Kushner. Then I saw Louise Linton.

Big Ben (which is the bell not the clock itself) was made by the same foundry that did the Liberty Bell.
(Big Ben cracked too. Good job they didn’t have Yelp in those days. Amazingly the foundry only closed a couple of months ago)
Does the SBA think we call it ‘black racism’?
If Julian Assange lives in a cupboard in England does that make him Harry Potter? Cos I got a much stronger Draco Malfoy vibe from him…
Not for the rest of my days ?
Goat Simulator is real, ewe guise!
Blue racism, eh? Reminds me of that bit about Mario races I did in the other thread. Surely Koopa Troopas have some sort of bias based on shell colour?
@Troubelle: Moonbeam Malcontent + Bard of the New Movement
Darn Blue Shells, taking away the rightful positions of people who earned their lot in life.
Someone needs to put a bug in Assange’s living quarters, whether it’s a closet or not. I suspect his ranting probably rivals Trump’s in egomania.
@Alan– maybe they were just bad at bells? If they were good at shot, cannonballs and horseshoes they’d’ve been a valuable resource during the American Revolution even if they did blow it on the bell.
BTW Trump Arizona Rally aka the one where Arpaio is most likely pardoned
If anyone wants to make themselves mad or see firsthand when he goes full Hitler here’s the link. The event officially starts at 7pm PST.
I expect him to blow up hard, losing multiple CEO’s would have bruised his ego hard.
@Oogly
If blue-shelled Koopas are discriminated against, that would mean at least some goodwill on the account of the in-universe authors of the original Paper Mario, as Mario’s Koopa partner in there (Kooper) sports a blue shell–and the father of green-shelled Koops in TTYD has a blue shell as well (if memory serves).
That said, purple-shelled Koopas and blue-shelled Koopas with grey skin are never portrayed well.
Yeah the movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch in no way captured Assange’s egomania or host of other personality problems.
Hey, if I was a goat and I had a choice between climbing a tree and being eaten by a tiger, I’d learn how to climb real fast.
a blue shell had green shell kids!?
what a pathetic cuck!
Whelp’s Trump on the rally
Talks about his home
Keeps saying media is lying about him
Still unable to specifically condemn the nazis
oh he’s getting pissy about people telling him that he didn’t respond fast enough. And then uses the “anarchists” as a way to support the Nazis.
“Love for the nation” “True affection for each other” Man it’s almost like he can’t say “fuck the nazis” What a whiner.
Now he’s talking about people condemning him for not being specific.
Oh btw he’s directly condmening ANTIFA. Look you want a play by play, just go read his tweets because he’s just doubling down on all of ’em. That and his hateboner for Obama. Now he’s just repeating himself.
If Big Ben is silent, how is the Internet still working? Fake news!
@troubelle
I would say that koopa society Mary be stratified by shell color and rank, in a militaristic society. The green and red shells represent the proletariat of the koopa empire, the common koopa, drafted into Bowser’s war of conquest. They would much rather be but they must fight the Mario Bros. Blue shells and yellow shells as seen on super Mario world are far less common and possess more education, as they are capable of fighting back against Mario even after they have been de-shelled, which tells me that they, unlike the green and red proles are in fact soldiers, trained for combat.
What would you place the odds that the guy holding the “Blacks for Trump” sign behind trump was paid to be there?
This man cannot condemn a group
– that marched on American soil, under the flag of a foreign political party that the U.S. went to war to defeat
– that chanted not “Save our statue” or “Down with Muslim terrorists”, but instead “We will not lose to Jews”
– that defends the morality of the Final Solution which would have seen his own daughter, his son-in-law and his 3 grandchildren thrown into concentration camps and gas chambers.
How the fuck can he still be flailing around trying to find reasons to defend people who would exterminate his own grandchildren if they had the opportunity?

Does…does…he know how unhinged he sounds? I should be beyond being stunned by Trump, but I’m not sure I want to be. I’m British, so while I was watching and thinking about cultural differences, I wondered how it’d seem if I knew nothing about America. I know he doesn’t give one about the international audience, but isn’t it a bizarre impression to give, and to expect to be well-received at home. This lot really want to believe in their incredibly offensive modern-day ‘lawless Wild West, Sheriffs, cowboys and Indians*’ type stuff.
* I hope using the term is acceptable in context, obviously it’s not how I think of it and of the history of Native Americans, or Mexico!
@Leo
Welcome to my hell. I’m watching it right now. To be honest I thought he was going straight up call for hate crimes against his political opponents. Like fuck he even threatened to shut down the US Gov’t until he gets his wall, and I’m not even fazed.
He is so pissed at not being able to repeal a black man’s health care plan. ONE VOTE ONENNENNNEENENE
@Jojo
Maybe, but I’m running off the assumption that the Koopa villages seen in PM64 and TTYD were based off an actual Thing in the Mushroom Kingdom, and that leading to the inference that Koopas that do not affiliate with or oppose Bowser and his rule exist. (There are seemingly unaffiliated Koopa Troopas in the Kart and Party lines, at minimum.)
That said, your immediate assumption could indicate a dangerous trend. Perhaps in-universe fictional establishments such as Koopa Village and Petalburg could be based off a darker reality where Koopa establishments are made very deliberately away from other species, either due to ostratization, gated-community complexes, or a very insular worldview on the part of Koopas (or some combination of the above). The first would fuel resentment; the second, boredom and entitlement; the third, fear and hatred. All of these would make the Koopa population easy prey for Bowser to recruit–and similar things could be said of Goombas, though they’re commonly seen drifting about Rogueport. …That said, it’s fucking Rogueport. Hardly a harbor of positive repute–and being in it doesn’t seem to help one’s own. There’s a blend of species in it, but Goombas make up no small amount of it.
More author bias, reflecting a grimmer reality?
@Ooglyboggles
God help America, honestly. Hang in there, Americans in the reality-based community.
He said how many years Obama and Hillary Clinton spent ‘trying to get healthcare’, actual quote, and he’s bragging about trying to get rid of it! (seems like he wants his base to go guess who wouldn’t vote for it and go after him?) He sounds like a cartoon villain! I mean, he pretty frequently does, but it doesn’t stop being hard to process. 0_o I wouldn’t be surprised if he directly called for hate crimes at all, he’s gone far enough in blatantly excusing them, in riling up his base, and pretty much called for it before.
Why doesn’t it matter to any of them if what he’s saying is true or blatant lies? Whhhhyyyy…
Edit: So, stuff Trump decides on and supposedly implements quickly, even if it’s a bad thing = great leader, greatest President
Decisive action in getting the statues down, implemented fast = weak leaders
‘K…
He just keeps upping the level of…whatever he is. I don’t even know what to call it at this point.
I already know why, but I still feel compelled to say, Why is he even holding a rally?
I can’t believe I’m saying this at the rally is now over, but, I expected worse. Don’t get me wrong this is terrible and I wouldn’t expect this from any other president, but I was thinking he’d go full hitler. He didn’t even pardon Arpaio, just said that he’d do it later. Which means he’s never going to do it because his word is worth less than dust balls. Like that was just a billion and one “lies, bigger lies and just plain wrong” in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The biggest thing is threatening democrats who are running and demanding that the filibuster be destroyed. Am I missing something here? I feel like something terrible has happened and my brain is filtering it out of my head to protect itself.
@Jules
I was just going to ask that about holding rallies! I haven’t followed US politics that closely before so wasn’t sure how far this is ‘normal’ (not that anything with Trump really can be).
He really does just love the attention and the chance to brag about himself.
@Ooglyboggles
Yeah, he’s been worse, horribly low bar as that is. I was a bit thrown* by the imagery of people being chopped up into little bits by immigrants behaving like ‘animals’ and US towns needing defending. That’ll rile the Nazis up. : /
* this is British understatement
@Leo
If you have faith in the US and believe that the outside is peaceful and everything is fine, yeah no. The police are gassing everyone in the immediate vicinity.
Apparently even FOX says that no violence has occurred and people didn’t react too badly to the tear gas.
