So it’s been a busy week, and I haven’t done one of these for a few days. Let’s play catch-up. I’m going a bit heavy on the joke tweets and cute animals today because otherwise I think I’d have to curl up in a ball on the floor.

Here's what Paraguayans did with a statue of dictator Alfredo Stroessner (1954-89). It's an interesting compromise. pic.twitter.com/gEtUPLseDz

There's a real possibility this does all end with Trump shooting somebody on Fifth Avenue.

Maybe it would be more believable if GOP didn't speak out against racism the same day the got caught racially gerrymandering in Texas?

So, best news of the year ? Not that the bar is particulary high, mind you …
Other good news, in my opinion: Drumpfie himself is suffering in the wallet for his pro-Nazi remarks.

🙁
I’ll post some.
There’s no practical way to fix the twitter thing. The browser doesn’t know the content size until it loads them.
This made me laugh, so I thought I would share:

Oh Christ, I just read that Bannon made a fortune running Chinese gold-farmers on WoW all those years ago. What a despicable asshole.
@Oogly, I think I missed it, but it sounds like you’ve had a few realizations. Congratulations! And good luck!
@numerobis: Thanks for the “escape” trick!
@Scildfreja
Reading about Levant’s troubles on Montreal Simon has been nothing short of glorious. Plus Simon’s Photoshops are always a gas!
RE: the baby stomping statue: IIRC, it was based on a local legend about a guy being attacked by demons that disguised themselves as babies.
Bannon’s a living example of the “Tragedy of the Commons”
@Falconer from my understanding, the way that deal of Bannon’s went south is part of what made him realize Gamergate could be a valuable resource and why he helped stoke it and brought Milo onboard. He saw racist, disaffected male nerds as a massive untapped demographic.
@WWTH
Trump’s support may collapse if Breitbart starts aggressively pushing the narrative that Trump is surrounded by globalist cucks, can’t get the borders closed, etc. Bannon and Kushner were at each other’s throats the whole time Bannon was in the WH (Kushner is not only Jewish, but a former Democrat).
Raw Story and Axios are both reporting that Bannon plans to go “thermonuclear” against Trump. He also had dinner with the Mercers earlier this week. If it does turn into a vendetta, it should be interesting to watch. Breitbart is one of the main sources of Trump’s ear poison and Twitter talking points.
Either way, strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
If Breitbart does go to war with Trump, what’s the over/under on when we’ll see President Pence?
@childrenofthebroccoli
I had never heard that, but I know the statue is from a park in Norway with a lot of unsettling, similar pieces by Gustav Vigeland.
Kelly must have his sights set on Gorka now. Maybe Miller. Please let that be soon!
@Oogly
Woah I missed something. I take it there’s been news on the gender front ? 😀
I would never have expected any kind of actual official body (in this case, the Committee on the Arts & Humanities) to poke Trump in the face with … an acrostic.
I call Bannon the biggest rat, because he’s smart, clever, has a vision, and thinks tactically* if not strategically. Trump is none of those things; he cares only about money and adulation. In effect, Bannon was Trump’s brain in roughly the same way that Karl Rove was Dubya’s brain. I don’t think Trump will push his racist message very well now — Bannon was his compass.
*Bannon was supposedly the one who figured out how to neutralize the impact of the pussy-grabbing revelation on women: promoting the idea that Hillary was worse because of her “savage attacks” on Bill’s victims.
Gussie, link not working.
@Moggie, Trump’s co-author on The Art of the Deal (read: the author) thinks he’ll resign soon, by fall at the latest, just declare victory and get on the chopper, then cut a deal with Mueller to stay out of jail.
One of his other partners in grift thinks both he and Trump are going to go to jail.
Be lovely if it happens.
I take some small comfort in contemplating Trump’s sheer terror. These last six months have been hell for him, which is good. It’s been hell for everybody else.
*is fashionably late as usual*
@Makroth
Goshdarnit! Maybe this one’ll work:
@Sinkable John : Pansy Ass Pinko, Regicidal Beast-of-Burden
Fortunately I found an lgbt center that offers free services like gender counseling in my area. It’s the only one for miles and miles around. I’ll be able to get some counseling on my trans issues soon enough. They even do hrt services. But that’s too far ahead, I’d have to convince my mom & stepdad about me being trans first. And I haven’t mentioned these trans issues to anyone in my family. And my mom and step dad are casual transphobes. I don’t know about anyone else in my family but I don’t think they’d like me being trans.
On a more personal, happier note, wearing stockings feels so lovely. Stockings plus lipstick equals every fun times ^_^ Stockings feel so cozy to wear, I like the look and they’re just fun to walk around in.
GrumpyOld: I dunno. He’s still got a basket of deplorable around him. Sessions might get back into his good graces, and Sessions is barely more subtle about his racism.
@Falconer – I, too, get both comfort and pleasure from contemplating how 45 spends his days in complete and total rage-misery.
Bannon is good news.
I have been overwhelmed with joy at the wide assortment of people from all walks of life who have come out against Trump. (PZ Myers posted an anti-Fascist statement from Johnny Cash’s children that actually made me cry with happiness.) And all the CEO’s from the biggest American companies resigning from his business committee – whooot!
First, it is showing Trump that sliding the US officially into white nationalism, fascism & Nazism isn’t the cakewalk he thought it would be. Yeah, USA!!
But, I was afraid that if Trump got pushed out, his rabid followers would call it a coup and rise up to defend him. They would never accept that it was because he had violated his obligations to America and the Constitution. I feared civil war (and these people have been panting for a race war for decades.)
But if people like Bannon keep getting pushed and turning against him, they will splinter his followers, who are not the most organized gang to begin with.
I do expect we will see random acts of terror (which will be ugly) but no organized opposition. Takes a load off my mind.
Oh … just a thought…
If Bannon starts attacking Trump, then some (bad) Republicans have an excuse to “protect him from the alt-right” instead of impeaching.
The deplorables over at 4chan and Reddit are sobbing and rending their garments over the loss of their “man on the inside”.
