So it’s been a busy week, and I haven’t done one of these for a few days. Let’s play catch-up. I’m going a bit heavy on the joke tweets and cute animals today because otherwise I think I’d have to curl up in a ball on the floor.

I read a nice thing today that restored my faith in humanity a little bit.

Gymnast Ragan Smith and her coach Kim Zmeskal learned 24 hours ago that the music in Smith’s new floor routine had a small snippet that was taken from a movie but has roots in confederate culture. I don’t know what the movie or the music was. Neither of them was aware of this until it was pointed out. So they immediately reworked the music to take that bit out. This was right on the eve of night one of the US championships, which was just tonight. So it’s kind of big deal to change the music. But they did without pause.

These are white Texans, so it could’ve gone very differently.

It’s always nice when people who are famous – well famous if you’re a gym nerd like me anyway – turn out to be decent people instead of assholes.

Also, Ragan killed it on her floor routine and ended up getting one of the highest scores in the world on that event so far this year.

I also searched info about the original version of the song before it had the Confederate stuff removed. It was a snippet of the “General Lee” car from The Dukes of Hazzard honking “Dixie”.

Fortunately I found an lgbt center that offers free services like gender counseling in my area.

On a more personal, happier note, wearing stockings feels so lovely. Stockings plus lipstick equals every fun times ^_^ Stockings feel so cozy to wear, I like the look and they’re just fun to walk around in.

And pfffft to the cops. They know full well it’s not mere vandalism. They probably don’t want all the hassle that goes with investigating and prosecuting hate crime so they’re talking themselves into not seeing it.

Hey so I have an update. the vigil had a huge turnout and included our mayor others. The best part is is that it convinced the police and they are looking at the event as a hate crime now. I’m not happy that they needed to be shown this by sheer numbers, but at least its progress!
