Hey everyone, I’m still lost in headache-land (see my last post for details) but this is REALLY REALLY important for all WHTM readers in the US.
Senate Republicans have scheduled a vote after lunch TODAY on a “motion to proceed” that will pave the way for a final vote on their bill that will take away healthcare from tens of millions of Americans (including me, and probably a lot of you).
Tell them NO.
You can get the numbers of your Senators (and more info) at 5Calls.org Moveon.org, or on the Senate website or by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
Here’s what MoveOn suggests you tell them (roughly):
Tell Republicans: “Please oppose any bill that takes away health care from tens of millions of Americans.”
If you’re one of those Americans, definitely tell them that.
Tell Democrats: “Thank you for doing everything you can to fight Trumpcare. Please use every tactic at your disposal to slow and stop this bill, including the filibuster-by-amendment (which means: slowing down the bill with a high number of amendments when the bill does come to a vote). Please DO NOT vote for ANY amendments that will make it easier for Republicans pass Trumpcare.”
If any of the Republicans listed below are your Senators it’s ESPECIALLY important to call; Collins is a “no” vote; the others are (as I write this post) on the fence.

I figured it wasn’t any actually real military personnel telling him that. Much like Redmond Boyle, he’s passing the buck so that any political fallout from his bigotry is channeled towards the military heads who report to him.
My guess? He saw a report on Fox and Friends about Chelsea Manning and this is his temper tantrum response.
I swear these folk have no sense of soldiers and other army personel as individuals, instead some homogenised mass of green army men and GI Joes.
Once Trumpcare is dead, then the Democrats can start working on the next step: Universal Healthcare. if we implemented Univ. healthcare, it will be impossible for Trump and the Republicans to try to revive Trumpcare. as of now According to Pew Research, 60% of Americans want univ. healthcare.
If you want Trump and his health care to go down and STAY down, Tell your congress member (Rep. or Dem.) to fight for single payer universal healthcare.
@ Virgin Mary
If we all chip in, maybe we can buy action figures for everyone who wants to play war, and then the rest of us can get on with helping the living and the dead.
Honestly, I’d be surprised if ANY real military, service members, or veterans actually talked to Drumpf about this.
Well I was close: https://wonkette.com/620721/trump-fires-trans-soldiers-protects-america-from-talking-about-jeff-sessions-for-a-day
It was a Tucker Carlson segment about transgender people.
All Trump is doing is systemically removing ever policy Obama put in place.
Because that ugly, ugly man and his ugly, ugly sychophants cannot imagine his predecessor still enjoys more respect from people than that ugly, ugly man will EVER enjoy, no matter how many stupid tweets from his ugly, ugly sychophants tell him otherwise.
He is living proof that money cannot buy class and dignity and respect.
Off topic, but I’ve just seen this story and the comments section is truly horrifying.

So much trans hate and misogyny. 🙁
@PeeVee : if only. Trump only want to remove any positive change by Obama. He is not gonna dismantle the whole “assassination by drone” scheme.
I made the mistake of skimming the comments on that story. I should have just gouged out my eyeballs instead, it probably would have been more enjoyable.
It’s genuinely astounding that lawmakers in America are so hellbent on denying trans people the basic liberty, privacy, and respect they have the right to. If we can’t treat our citizens with at least a baseline amount of human dignity, I have no clue where we get off crowing about how amazing our personal freedoms are.
Speaking of which, I foolishly chose to read the comments on Mary’s linked article (even though I was fully warned) and I think I might have to go throw up for fucking ever. When I tried to scroll down the page crashed, so I’m going to take that as a sign of divine intervention and go make some coffee to calm my ass down before I accidentally fry all my neurons with rage heat.
*blistering stream of curse words in every language dreemr knows*
*makes up several new languages and curses in those too*
INDEED, @Jesalin. Indeed!
I’m very, very angry now. I want to fight this shit.
So from what I see on facebook the vote failed and and people get to keep their healthcare or am I reading things wrong
@Fabe – the vote to repeal & replace with whatever-the-fuck the Republicans put in was defeated, but there are still hours to go on the debates. We won’t really know for sure on anything until late Thursday or Friday when all debate (20 hours) has been exhausted and all votes have been held on all amendments. It’s grueling.
@Fabe
The vote did fail, but people are still gonna lose their healthcare.
That’s my limited understanding anyway, hope it clears things up (I know it doesn’t).
And it’s like the seventeenth attempt since the last year.
I am absolutely astonished by the fact that republicans are totally unable to get anything done even when they control litteraly everything. Then again, wannabee authoritarian are usually unable to get themselves organized and in working order.
I think Trump doesn’t really care about many issues personally. He’s using the issues to create an atmosphere of panic so people don’t pay attention to the stuff about the more serious allegations about his finances (whether he’s connected to people using Russian businesses to launder money, etc.).
Voting now on “Repealing portions of the health care law in 2 years” (and a ban on federal funding of abortion, which is already banned I think). This one required majority only, and it FAILED! Yes!
In fact, it remind me of a book about predatory bird, where he said that some kind of bird were beginning to be attacked by seagull. The problem being that seagulls are horrible at actually killing and eating that kind of prey, which mean that the poor prey suffered horribly before dying of blood loss while struggling, unlike when it was an hawk who were able to finish off almost immediatly.
The GOP is a bit like that : they are comically inept at actually implementing anything, but that don’t mean they won’t finally get their way. It just mean that the process will be long, exhausting, and will feel like torture for thoses actually victim of it.
Trump’s announcement on trans people in the military serves one major purpose that divides into two. The first, and the fully fitting with every instinct he’s shown in politics, is DISTRACTION LOOK OVER HERE. He’s obsessed with “controlling the story”, and this serves as a decoy to take some attention away from other scandals, as well as give some cloud cover to Republicans who are trying to negotiate the deaths of millions without all those damned people watching them. If this gins up enough outrage among LGBT activists to send them flying off after that and relieve pressure from the health care repeal debate, then it has accomplished its goal.
The second, is of course, the simple remaking of another stand in the Culture Wars. The conservative bulwark against homosexuals has been overrun and is no longer a defensible position, so it’s time to fall back and set up a new bulwark against transgender and various others that they have no desire to learn the distinctions between. Look for an attempt to turn his thoroughly unearned “gay-friendly” branding into an attempt to pit the LG against the BT, and we all know that there are unfortunate pockets of the former that would be at home with it. Find the new thing that the ignorant and bigoted are afraid of, and start using that to get them to support the unsupportable and condemn the unobjectionable. Trump probably has a vague idea about this in terms of “rebranding” and seeking out new controversy, and he probably thinks it’s a genius move that no one has ever conceived of before. The rest of the GOP will be happy to see continuity with the old playbook.
I am almost certain he went with the ban other than for funding for his stupid-ass wall, which let’s be honest he will find someway to funnel that money to himself, was as a distraction for something that would be more than a tad dangerous to himself. One important thing to note about Trump is he projects more than a five dollar theater and he said some way too specific things in his Ohio give me money tour. I am not going to repeat them and there is rumblings of him possibly getting caught up in human trafficking. If both of those are true that paints a very disturbing picture. Also while I have absolutely no way of verifying this but there is a small rumor, hopefully untrue, about the true contents of what people have started to call the pee tapes. Problem is I don’t know how to actually describe it without really freaking people out. I have noticed a small link between these three things, they all involve young girls. Sorry for being even more vague than usual but considering the content of what I know disturbing doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I used to watch Crossfire on CNN all the time. Tucker Carlson was always the one I hated the most. Fuck him.
Here’s Caitlyn Jenner trying to pretend like she’s disappointed with Trump and trying to pretend like she didn’t eagerly and knowingly throw other trans Americans under the bus in order to support the candidate who will help rich people like herself get richer at the expense of everyone else
