In a MGTOW subreddit discussion of the proposition that “White Women are clearly the most priveleged [sic] group to exist in the history of the human race,” several Reddit MGTOWs suggest that this terrible problem may soon solve itself, with rape.

Naturally, all these comments have gotten upvotes, because, in case you’ve forgotten, Men Going Their Own Way is a straight-up hate movement.
Why does Reddit give these guys a forum for this shit?
@ I don’t know about “out of line,” but I don’t really agree that it’s a bad thing (well…okay, it’s bad, but by circumstance, not to the tune of requiring behavior moderation).
And yes, the cause is all-of-the-above. We live in a world not all of us thought could exist before last June. The wastes of skin David has been tracking and mocking for years now have open political power and have seen a resurgence into the mainstream. Personally, I’ve been in a slow-burning fury ever since November last year, and I don’t anticipate that’s going to stop. Anger is the most understandable (I would argue most legitimate) response, and if that occasionally boils over, it’s equally understandable.
Particularly when the topic of conversation hits extremely close to a major, and generally-unacknowledged, problem in society that’s causing harm.

You’re not wrong, we’re all on edge right now, some more than others. I know I fucking am. Sometimes stuff like that happens and it’s undeserved. But I don’t think that’s the case right now. Correcting each other is certainly much more important than correcting (or indulging in any other way) trolls, and if the tone goes ballistic so quickly (maybe by force of habit ?) then so be it. Can’t blame anyone for being annoyed at having to give a feminism 101 course on here (or free speech 101, as is the case here).
People have accused us of being mean here since the very beginning. It’s a pretty typical reaction to a site where there’s a significant number of opinionated women. I think there’s actually less arguing between non-troll commenters than there used to be when I was first here.

Finally, agreeing with others that it’s not really worse now. I joined up last spring, and I haven’t noticed too big a difference
We have had extra-persistent trolls recently, one of whom admitted to frequently restarting a trolling session by “pretending to be a good feminist at first” or something. I’ve not seen too much extra mean-ness though. The touchiness could easily be a side-effect of the recent trolling.
I don’t think it’s worse than before. In general, it seems reasonable reaction to what we get here.
If a newbie engages, I think we try to assume good faith, but some “newbies” are obviously not really new after the first few posts.

I don’t think any regular here is unusually or disproportionately “touchy” atm. Leastwise, I haven’t seen it. People get annoyed sometimes, and that’s legit. Certainly no sitewide explosion has happened recently, so I’m not sure what prompted the concern.
Not everyone gets along all the time. Not everyone has to. We’re not all friends and even friends can disagree. That doesn’t mean there’s a malfunction that needs to be corrected.
We’re all inclined to be more or less defensive at different times than others. Sometimes we have our guard up when there’s an actual troll. Other times we’re paranoid when there isn’t. Other times we’re relaxed when there’s no threat, or off our guard when there is one. I’ve only been here since November, so I don’t know if it’s any more tense than normal, but everyone has reasons to experience periods of extra stress.

I managed to catch Bethesda’s livestream last night at E3, and after we got through all the self-wank about ESO*, there was some bits about their new games that I’m actually pretty excited for.
The Evil Within 2 looks pretty spoopy, and I’m stoked to see how they’re going to continue with it, though I didn’t see a trace of Ruvik.
And the new Wolfenstein is going to take place in Nazi-occupied America, it has a black lady with a natural afro, and there’s a character with a robot arm that did that thing that robots tend to do.

Though I will say I’m kind of suspicious about Bethesda’s new “Creation Club” system. It smacks of what they tried to do on Steam (which got immediate backlash). Though, they’re saying it’ll be a system where Bethesda and chosen third-party developers can sell sanctioned stuff, but we’ll see.
*Y’all can bring Morrowind to ESO, but you can’t be bothered to give us an HD version of the original??? Hell, at least give us an HD version of Oblivion, instead of giving us an HD version of a game less than five years old that we can easily mod to be HD for free and then proceed to break all the mods so we can’t use them???
