Over on the Men Going Their Own Way subreddit, the fellas are discussing a pressing problem of contemporary society: “Why must men always be better than the women they are trying to date?”
Men have to be better that the women they date? I’m sure this must come as unexpected news to many if not most of the women I’ve dated. But let’s set that aside for a moment.
Today’s MGTOW of the Day, a dude calling himself DangZagnut, thinks the whole “men have to be better” thing, which he thinks is a real thing, has to do with the fact that ladies don’t actually like sex.
Let’s let him explain:
Given that virtually everything in this comment is complete nonsense, I’d say that DangZagnut has not answered the question he set out to answer. But his comment does raise another important question: Why are MGTOWs the absolute worst?
@KUPO
In general, MU* games are very sexually heavy and people roleplay sex a lot with extremely specific fetish-play often involved.
Mildly related to @Leftwingfox’s earlier post about sniffing out people’s real genders:
People giggle about how men often write sex scenes or roleplay sex in which women take twelve inches of cock into their vaginas, even though anatomically speaking that is impossible.
Or they write about the head of their partner’s cock pushing past their cervix into their womb.
I’m lightyears ahead of those folks because even as a younger person I knew vaginas weren’t infinite blackholes that just go on forever, cervical penetration is impossible and touching it hurts tremendously, and so on.
Of course, if you’re roleplaying as someone who has a rubbery body (think Helen Parr from The Incredibles), yes, you can bang out a response about how your horse-sized male partner is making your stomach bulge out with their gigantic penis and so on.

Ha! Kidding. Wanted to say that I had a similar experience as yours with FurryMUCK. Shook off a lot of sexist stereotypes, entitlement and negative self-image by spending time and making friends there.
Heck, one of my first real sex ed experiences was in the MUCK! I was raised in a Catholic school and learned PIV sex through porn, so it was an eye-opener to take part in a virtual sex ed class where everyone could ask questions and get some real answers.
@Fran
Honey Lemon is Latina. Just saying
@Axe
Fuck. I knew I was unsure about her race, but I chose my best guess. Thanks very much!
That’s even better. My enjoyment of BH6 just increased!
Fran,
Fuck yeah. Take my money, please.
What the fuck. Literally, what the fuck???
@PeeVee
Right?! Imagine how much fucking money Disney would make from people like us.
I heard scuttlebutt about how Elsa might be the first Lesbian princess, and my response is to marry her to Moana. Interracial lesbian romance to destroy the minds of the white supremacists and make tonnes of money from progressive fans like us.
And that’s why Fran doesn’t roleplay much these days.
To feed the vicious circle, many roleplayers will literally just defecate on you, verbally speaking, if you’re bad at roleplaying, and I am afraid my skills have gotten rusty.
The idea of roleplaying gives me anxiety now.
Kinda been trying to get back into it, though. Registering at these MU* games we’re talking about is so fucking difficult and timeconsuming, though.
I mostly play on really old characters I still have because remaking a new character takes away too many of my spoons that I need for important tasks.
@ fran
I was banging on about black legionaries. The post Roman era is obviously a bit hazy. But we know there were plenty of black people here in Roman times and also (proportionally even more than today) in Elizabethan times. So unless you all went on holiday in the intervening years presumably there were also black people in the so-called Dark Ages [I’ll resist the obvious comment, but maybe a title for one of your stories? 😉 ]
I’d ask at Tintagel, but I’m not sure the tourist guides there are the most trustworthy source. I love how they do a little lecture about how medieval monks faked the discovery of Arthur’s grave to cash in on the tourist trade, then immediately say “Of course we know Arthur really lived here, because of this recently discovered, totally authentic, carved stone with his name on it.”
Looks real enough to me…

The one time I tried being overtly sexual in an online chat scared the hell out of me. People knew I was “Really a guy” because my brother was part of the same community and had shared both of our real names with everyone, and approximately where we lived. Another reason he’s a fucking dick. So I got out of there.
So that’s why I don’t generally do the sexy sexual over the interwebs in general.
Also Francesca, I read a discussion at one time about Superman and how someone with both superhuman strength and near-invulnerability would likely kill his partner simply by ejaculating, never mind the rest of it.
So, pretty good thing that Helen Parr is so stretchy, since her husband has something close to Superman’s powers. May all y’alls days now be just as squicky as mine 😀
From a history standpoint, I have interests in most periods of history. I favor WWII, have a ton of books about that, but I’m also interested in the Sengoku Jidai, medieval history, and anything surrounding the Roman Empire.
The games available to me when I started looking at this – Age of Empires – centered around Rome, so that might have directed my interest somewhat. And Shogun II: Total War basically forces history down my throat while playing it, so there’s that.
Star Wars…I was never part of the Star Wars fandom. I loved the films as a little kid, and I’ve read dozens of the books. Played as many of the games as I could get my hands on. And with The Force Awakens, I am so glad none of those people would have considered me one of them. All of those assholes can go straight to hell, that was a great movie.
@ fran
Don’t know if you’re aware of my thing about British comics of a certain era. But anyway, on an appropriate open thread remind me to chat to you about this guy…
IgnoreSandra,
Sounds like a discussion of Man Of Steel, Woman Of Kleenex.
Fran,
Disney has NO clue what they’re missing…I’d so pay to see a Elsa/Moana storyline.
Re: RP’s: I never did do any of that…when everyone here talks about games of any sort, I just kind of zone out, because I really don’t understand what anyone is talking about. (My kids totally would, though.)
When I say I’m old, I mean I’m old, lolol.
(I’m of the generation online assholes want to die off quickly, because I’m holding them back. Or something.)
I’m sorry you are treated crappily. This makes me sad, that something that has such great potential to be wonderful is used instead to hurt you. It’s also why I limit my own online exposure to a very limited few sites.
Fran, remember when I said that I had a MU* character that predated the creation dates being added to the database, so I had no idea when the character was created? That was on FurryMUCK.
I remember learning that a Psychology student on the MUCK was only about 60-70% certain of my gender at the time. Mostly because I wasn’t playing it up in any direction. Then again, I just don’t seem to have a personally strong gender image.
I’ve not been on Tapestries. Personal disagreements involved.
The ‘can’t afford computers’ thing… wabah? Hell, I know some of the more active people in the furry fandom and from the MUCK were black because I met them at conventions. One of them, back at the time I first met him, worked for BellCore. Yeah, a guy working at the R&D company formed from AT&T’s breakup couldn’t afford a computer because he’s black. Right. <eyeroll>
I see someone else already brought up Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex.
And yeah, an Elsa/Moana matchup sounds fun. And not just because it would make racist heads explode. Hmm, one works with water, the other with ice, this has possibilities…
@Francesca:
Would ‘Defrosting the Ice Queen’ be too blatant a title? I suppose it would, wouldn’t it. But salt does melt ice…
I’m probably going to be fanficcing this myself in my head now, never mind me.
@Alan
Yes, that is true; we were discussing how not very racially homogenous the Imperium Romanum was, and the body of evidence that clearly indicates the role of black people in Roman society.
That is one of the reasons why I’ve also become more interested in that period; it seems like the overt white supremacists aren’t very fond of of the multicultural nature of the Roman Empire; it makes them uncomfortable.
Also, regarding your love of British comics: please, do tell me when you get a chance. I’ve been exposed to Judge Dredd, mostly, which is my introduction to them.
That one you’ve just posted seems like it would appeal to me greatly.
@Sandra
Now you’ve given me some interesting mental pictures, thanks. 😀
I used to spend hours online chatting with other SW fans. We did all the fanfiction/original character stuff that people now giggle about with Sonic and MLP. I was very deeply involved with them up until recently, when I found out they were home to all these awful racist individuals.
@PeeVee
Thank you! Honestly, I, too, only post on very few sites these days. I’ve changed a lot regarding my intake of Internet websites. I used to have hundreds of usernames and a huge backlog of bookmarks for forums of all kinds…now I barely post anywhere.
(I’m of the generation online assholes want to die off quickly, because I’m holding them back. Or something.)
I think it’s that, and now these online assholes like fascist brutality in which everyone must be an Ubermensch and if you are old or disabled you should be thrown off a rock or a mountain like the Spartans did with sickly babies (I don’t think this actually happened, but Frank Miller drew them doing it so it must be true according to these assholes).
@Jenora
And now I want to know what your fursona was.
Don’t tell me. I’m sure you’d rather have a secret or two to yourself. 😀
Honestly, the furry fandom has always been very diverse, which is why it distresses me to hear Neonazis are infiltrating their ranks.
But then again, what AREN’T neonazis infiltrating these days?
I quite like your idea!

Re: gender
I tend to use a girl as my avatar quite often and have people calling me ‘she’ and ‘her’ without prompting, so I guess I present as a woman without effort on my part.
For a while, when I was laboring under my delusions of being male, I used to correct them, but now, obviously, I don’t.
Jenora,
Oglaf did a whole storyline on the Snow Queen. Your idea reminds me of that (and how very good Oglaf is!)
@ Virgin Mary
This is indeed a safe space. I’m so terribly sorry that you were given such crappy advice about your GD. I’m really happy that you now feel you can start to be your best, authentic self. Seriously, that’s going to make me smile all day.
You probably know the road will not always be smooth, because some people are arseholes. We will be here to cheer you on and celebrate you any time you need it. Get out there and do what makes you feel whole.
(All the internet hugs!)
Re: cooking/steaming your bits (yeah, I’m late to the party again, who cares, anybody got anything to drink?), these two guys got their bums steamed. And wound up loving the results:

Maybe the migtoes and incels would both gain a better perspective if they had a spa day once in a while, and got their bungholes toasted. Just sayin’.
@ fran
I’m imagining you saying that in the voice of Newt from Aliens. But anyway, there’s a sort of connection…
The chap is called Blackhawk. He first appeared in a comic called Tornado. Backstory is Romans try to enslave some Nubians. Blackhawk leads an uprising. Roman General so impressed with his leadership skills he offers him a job as centurion. Adventures ensue.
The series was written by Gerry Finlay-Day. He did a lot of historical war stories and was famous for his meticulous research. (he also wrote a lot of sci-fi ones. They tend to be “It’s Vietnam…IN SPAAAACCCE!”, but they’re very good). Anyway, it was a great series. All the ‘impossible suicide mission’ stuff. Blackhawk’s troops were sort of special forces. They had skills outside the usual Roman battle doctrine (the Romans did use foreign troops like that in specialist units). Also lots of commentary about Blackhawk’s role in society. The issue of course not that he was black, but that he’d risen through the ranks. All the class stuff you get in the Sharpe novels.
He became a fan favourite. He got the cover gig in the only Tornado annual released.
Tornado went to the wall though. However Blackhawk was snapped up by 2000AD. The writing duties were taken over by Alan Grant (who came up with and wrote Dredd). To tie in with 2000AD’s sci-fi remit they invoked the old trope of aliens scouring the galaxy for the best warriors. So Blackhawk ended up fighting in an alien gladiatorial league. Wasn’t too bad. All the usual though. Gets them working together to defy the owners, forced to fight friend, rigged contest against adventurous aristocrat etc. Basically just needed Joachim Phoenix to show up.
Eventually though all that was lost and he ended up as a generic alien fighting sci-fi hero. All his uniqueness was gone and the story fizzled put. Alan Grant is quite open that he wasted a great character and regrets ever trying to squeeze Blackhawk into the 2000AD format.
@ fran
Speaking of Dredd. Did you know that, because of a miscommunication between Glasgow speaking writer Alan Grant and Spanish speaking artist Carlos Ezquerra, Dredd was originally drawn as a black guy? Grant quite liked it and was a bit disappointed when the editorial decision was made to model Dredd on Clint Eastwood.

Check out the really early strips.
Late per the norm.
@Fran, re: Big Hero 6
Bit of a thing: the Hamada bros. are half-Japanese, half-Caucasian of some sort. [Also, Gogo is Korean.]
…now where did I put that Baymax beanie?…
@Alan
This sounds amazingly good and now I want to read a few issues for myself.
About Judge Dredd’s ethnicity – I knew about that, actually, and it made perfect sense to me. I saw the artwork of him that clearly gives him a black man’s features, and it confused me later on to see people like Stallone and Karl Urban used as actors for the inevitably awful movie adaptations.
ETA:
@Troubelle
Thanks! The specifics are quite useful.
Hey, I hung out with some furries back in the day! Nice people, at least back then. Could never get the hang of the MU format, though.
@Francesca
Indeed, this was my primary goal xD
Looking back on the Star Wars stuff I experienced, I see that it wasn’t as good as I thought it was at the time. Some authors wrote Leia and other women with respect, others didn’t, and the net result is that who she is changes based on who’s writing the story. The other shared characters do as well, but not to the same extent that Leia does.
According to Timothy Zahn, Leia is just as powerful as Luke, she’s just focused on a different discipline and she doesn’t necessarily need to learn the ways of the force to become significant…but Luke needs to learn her discipline (Politics) or become irrelevant and easily manipulated.
But reading other authors, Leia tends to come across as some kind of sex toy. Or irrelevant to the story, overbearing, concerned with the wrong things, etc. I note this problem mostly with Leia because the movies only introduced A woman. Exactly one. And there’s definitely lots of problems in the expanded universe with “These people look this way, so this is how their culture is”.
On gender:
I almost always pick a woman avatar in any online game, or singleplayer game. Games that don’t have avatars but do have voice responses, I pick feminine-sounding responses. Others usually recognize me as a woman. In text mediums, I pick either feminine avatars or technological ones.
I just finished Expeditions: Viking. I became the Queen of the Britons in the process. So, success.
Why do they always, always lie about the obvious fact they find a huge percentage of women ‘unfuckable’ and uninteresting. “No creepy guys or rape” – what he means is every woman would wanna fuck every guy. No standards. Like apparently every man has?! I think not.
Sometimes I think about this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwyjxsOYnys – tl;dw – he drunk-dials his ex and humiliates himself, almost begging for her to come back and help him on an emotional level. The endless casual sex he thought he wanted (and got because he is a rich celebrity and one of the very small minority who has people ‘throwing themselves’ at them) does not stop his depression.
If this guy was rich and famous and was offered lots of casual sex (as he imagines all women are) how would he cope? How many days of fucking 50 times a day before it’s not so great anymore.
“How far I’ll let it go”
