When the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas announced they would be holding a few women-only showings of the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, the angry dudes of the internet all cried “foul” at once.
And when one bold man — a conservative journalist by the name of Stephen Miller — bought a ticket for one of these women-only showings, and announced on Twitter he fully intended to attend, darnit, these men knew they had found their Rosa Parks. Only white. And a dude. And not even slightly oppressed by any reasonable definition of the term.
Still, the angry dudes took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Well, their thought. They all seemed to have the exact same one, and they haven’t gotten tired of repeating it yet.
Why can't the little old colored lady just sit at the back of the bus? Why spoil it for the rest of the passengers?

I doubt it but I'd lay money on it you'd tell Rosa to sit in the back of the bus.
— postwarO27 (@postwarO27) May 27, 2017
Sure, just like it's totally legit to require black ppl to sit at back of the bus, still being accommodated, right?
— (((David Maggard))) (@drm31415) May 28, 2017
"separate but equal"
"back of the bus, front of the bus- what's the big deal?"
"plenty of other lunch counters nearby"

Why doesn't Rosa Parks go sit in the back of the bus? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Why didn't Rosa Parks just sit on the back of the bus?
— Hillbilly-Redneck (@CondorXXCondor) May 27, 2017
It's just one bus. One seat. In the back of the bus. Exclusion is exclusion. Opposite of diversity. No need. Principle. Stand for it.

Any discrimination is bad. Would it be ok if I only made black ppl ride at the back of the bus once a day?
— noteasybeinggreen (@scooterthefrog) May 27, 2017
and rosa parks could have moved to the back of the bus, it's not like they told her to get off.
— The Tiger Dog (@TigerDogB) May 27, 2017
Ya, and besides the seats at the back of the bus are just the same. Some ppl just don't know their place, amiright?!?
— (((David Maggard))) (@drm31415) May 27, 2017
It's almost as bad as complaining about having to sit at the back of the bus. What an uppity man!
— Sonic (@MrSonicAdvance) May 27, 2017
"The seats at the back of the bus are just as comfortable as the ones at the front, so what's the problem?"
— Nathan In SoCal (@NATHANINSOCAL) May 27, 2017
"You're not being discriminated against, Mrs Parks. There are plenty of other available seats on the back of the bus."
— STUTTERFLY. 🇲🇽 (@SSTUTTERFLY) May 28, 2017
I don't know, which one bothered black people who had to sit at the back of the bus and use separate water fountains?

I jacked off in the back of the bus not too long ago

Er, sorry about that last one. I don’t think that dude is talking about the Wonder Woman movie at all.
There was some comic artist who threw a tantrum and tried to sic his fans on a (female) critic who went through the trouble of constructively analyzing his poor (and often but not always female) anatomy mistakes.
I wondered the same thing: How did this guy ever get a professional job? I’ve had my babies formally critiqued since high school…. You have to learn to separate your art from your self and your self worth.
What stuff? ONE women only screening in ONE cinema. If you have ever thought that feminists/ women overreact to small things you should revise that opinion in the light of your silly comment.
And you forget that David who runs this site, and many of the regular contributors are men. They would not have enjoyed the enormous privilege either!
Chessman is now trying way too hard.
Chessman is clearly playing 3D Tic-tac-toe. The 3x3x3 version. Insisting on going second because that player has the advantage.
I hope the guys showing up for the wrong screening get booted and their tickets aren’t refunded. Big crybabies.
Hmmm weird way to put that.
I mean…a few days ago the MGTOWs and the Incels enjoyed laughing at the girls that died at Ariana Grande’s concert, mocking and dehumanizing them and now you come here to tell us that we can afford to obliviate ourselves to your problems.
If you can have a brutal behaviour towards innocent little girls then we can brush off guys not being able to buy a ticket to one of the many screenings of a movie.
@CCD But, but that happened in Canukistan! Therefore it doesn’t count. /s
Nequam: that’s attributed to Sarah Hagi.
@CCD
Yeah, but Viola Desmond was Canadian and Canada’s that weird land of igloos and donuts and hockey and Mounties and Rush and Don Cherry… it doesn’t have black people!
Actually I’m taking a trip to Nova Scotia in the summer and hope very much to see the Africville museum there.
But to the point of them sounding off as modern day Rosa Parks’s… I just find it amusing both in how threatened they are that this is happening, but also how punishingly ignorant of history they are. Stuff like civics, political science, history… I mean, I realize the American educational system has become a joke in recent decades, but the myopia is just gobsmacking. They really do think that these events are so ephemeral and far removed from them that they can just cite a Peabody and Sherman version of history and not sound like colossal idiots?
*sigh* I spent Sunday on an architectural tour of the Victorian-era Riverside district of Toronto and these jokers spent it bandying about Jim Crow references in regards to a superhero movie screening. What’s wrong with this picture?
@ Chessman
It’s actually pretty great living in a bubble! Free bonbons, unlimited cat videos, and alllllll the unlimited girl power movie watching and I want. Truly, the bubble is paradise!!!!! I’m never leaving this bubble until big daddy government makes me leave.
Did you notice the commenters didn’t really react very much to you? It’s bc you are weak sauce bruh. Bring your fucking A game if you think you’re gonna get under any of our thin, pampered skin.
Pathetic.
@pie
Yes, watched Three Girls as a marathon last Thursday. Again, brilliant but harrowing. It disgusts me how this was mishandled by the police and one of the girls was painted as being an abuser herself. The whole thing put kids through more trauma than just the sex abuse in itself, being ‘unreliable witnesses’ and ‘child prostitutes’. Awful.
P.S. I hope your user name isn’t an abbreviation of Paedophile Information Exchange, if you didn’t know about this maybe you would like to change it.
“Pie” also means Proto-Indo-European (an ancient language) and a shitload of other things including a delicious dessert.
Yes, I have to say that when I see the word “pie”, I don’t automatically think “Paedophile Information Exchange”. In fact, I suspect comparatively few people do.
And now I’m thinking about pie. And agent Dale Cooper. And this:
The word “Pie” just makes me feel patriotic.

Also, kinda hungry.
*Summons Rosa Parks’ ghost
Me: “A movie theatre is having some women-only screenings of a motion picture about a superwoman, are you OK with that?”
Ghost of Rosa Parks:
“Is racism over yet? Why are you bothering the dead with such nonsense, who cares?”

@axecalibur Zac Efron’s a good choice, and I would suggest Channing Tatum as the second Angel. I’m not sure about the third, though. Maybe Tom Hardy? Also, Glenn Close should be in there as either Bosley or Charlie, or perhaps even a villain.
@ Weirwood I find it hilarious that men think science fiction should be a male-only space, considering Mary Shelly is largely credited with inventing the genre.
Childrenofthebroccoli,
You mention of Channing Tatum reminded me of Matt Bomer, who I would definitely love to see included!
@ Peevee Ooh, that’s another good option. He’s already got experience playing a spy, even.
Hilarious: Carl Of Swindon has officially come out as a 9/11 truther.
Doubly hilarious: HBomb already knows. Prepare your popcorn.
@kupo
I love Cooper! I’m rewatching Twin Peaks while waiting for the new season to start and you have no idea how much I’m craving cherry pie and coffee.
I’m going to cast Sigourney Weaver as Charlie, Melissa McCarthy as Bosley and Tom Hardy, Aziz Ansari and Joseph Gordon Levitt as the Angels.
Instead of doing the typical Asian nerd stereotype, Ansari will be not be the tech nerd of the group. I see him as the fight expert who uses his everyman looks to get opponents to underestimate him. Hardy is the tech expert. Levitt is the master of disguise.
There should be multiple villains like in the 1st Charlie’s Angels movie. Maisie Williams will be one of them.
The victims that they have to save will be mostly men. No damsels in distress.
I would so watch this.
I also want a UK version, with Mark Strepan and Ben Tavassoli (from New Blood) as two of the angels (because they have absolutely excellent chemistry together), and probably Helen Mirren in either the mastermind or a villain role. And yes, absolutely no damsels in distress, I want them saving blokes (and occasionally kids. Or possibly puppies and kittens/a donkey sanctuary/similar about once a season).
Any suggestions for third UK angel?
@Scented Fucking Hard Chairs
He’s also trying to pretend that he never called himself a skeptic. It’s just like the ending of Animal Farm.
