Hey, you remember that New Hampshire state representative who, it turns out, was also the founder of the exceedingly icky woman-hating Red Pill subreddit? Today, apparently tired of answering questions about what a misogynistic shit he is, he quit.
Here’s the Daily Beast, the publication that uncovered Fisher’s role in founding the subreddit in the first place, on this latest development:
Representative Robert Fisher, the Republican who was recently unmasked as the creator and chief moderator of The Red Pill, one of the internet’s most notorious forums for misogyny, resigned on Wednesday following a New Hampshire legislative committee’s passing of a recommendation that no action be taken against him and a call from Democrats that the Attorney General investigate him for lying under oath.
Fisher had previously refused to resign, resisting demands from within his own party, including New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, who called Fisher’s online comments “horrendous and repulsive.”
Which is if anything an understatement.
Before you award the Republicans any awards for courage here, though, you should know that the reason that committee didn’t vote to discipline him is that all of the Republicans on it voted for no action; the Dems on the committee all supported some kind of sanctions.
It’s also worth noting that Fisher sees himself as the victim here. According to the Concord Monitor,
Fisher explained his resignation Wednesday afternoon, without apology.
“Unfortunately, the falsehoods, lies and comments of an overzealous blogger and some of my colleagues have created a situation where I must genuinely consider the safety and well-being of my girlfriend, my family, and myself,” he said in an email. “It is with a heavy heart that I will be unable to complete my term.”
Poor baby. Apparently being a TRUE ALPHA DOG RED PILLER is tough, at least once the world finds out that you’re a TRUE ALPHA DOG RED PILLER.
H/T — @Kinderschwein on Twitter, the first of several to point me to this development
@JS yeah, in grade-school parlance, they can dish but they sure can’t take it.
Poor, poor baby. It’s so embarrassing when your horrible acts get found out this way, isn’t it.
@Rhuu
Too late, I already read them. I rather expected a lot of the comments to be from butthurt/insecure guys though. It’s practically a rule at this point that anything like this or anything that promotes women or female sexuality/health will get a *ton* of comments from the misogynists.
@Rhuu:
There’s Lewis’s Law, which states that “Comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.”
@EJ
Or Anita’s Law
“Comments on any article about bigotry results in disproportionate displays of bigotry.”
@EJ
If I might go off on a tangent here, I did a little reading about Lewis, and her anti-intersectionality. It reminded me that before I came here I used to believe that Intersectionality was the ‘default setting’ (so to speak) of feminism. Although I’m not exactly pining for my lost innocence/naivety.
Thank you EJ and Croosters! I knew there had to be one already, haha.
@Jesalin: ANTI-Intersectionality? How do you ‘anti’ that? I expected this to be coming from an older person, perhaps more into second wave than third, but nope. Lewis is younger than I expected.
Hrmmmm.
I’ll have to look into this more, because I also thought that intersectionality was the default.
Also I’m sorry I couldn’t spare you the comments on that article, I was hoping to take that hit for someone!
@Jesalin
Me too. I used to take it for granted that feminism included everyone, color, sexuality, or whatever. I was sadly surprised to find I was mistaken. But I hope it’s getting better now that it’s been brought into the open. (fingers crossed)

But Her Emails 2: Electric Boogaloo
Hi there, I am a new commenter. I have been reading this blog for a little while now. I wanted to thank David for creating this blog and to all the regular commenters for restoring my somewhat dinged up faith in humanity. Not long ago I was in an emotionally abusive relationship. After dating for several months he told me that he was MGTOW. I had no idea what that meant. Looking into it brought me here. Reading this blog made it possible for me to understand and almost predict the absolutely horrible crap that he was going to say and do. It also helped give me the courage to stand up to him and tell him to go his own f*****g way already. Even after I broke things off with him, he continued to send me emails calling me every awful name, telling me that all I wanted to do was lay down with a different guy every night (he did not say it quite as politely as that) and how smart he was for seeing me for what I am and how right he was for dumping me. But I was prepared for all that after reading what the MO for the MGTOW community is. I forwarded all his emails to the police and they had a chat with him and thankfully I have not heard from him. I wanted to say to all of you thanks for the support, even though you may not realize it, with every comment that all of you make you are giving support and comfort to those that need it.
@Gr8Dane
First of all, welcome. Have you received your welcome package? (Scented fucking candles, misandrist hard chairs, and whatnot.)
Second…that must have sucked horribly, and I am so glad you got the hell out of there when you did. And I’m glad that this site helped you learn about that.
Stick around. Things are gonna get more and more interesting.
@Gr8Dane – Welcome! Glad you’ve got rid of that awful person.
@Gr8Dane
Welcome to the forums! Glad that the police took your grievances seriously and the fact that you’re out of that awful relationship.
@Gr8Dane
Hi! Welcome in.

Gr8Dane,
I am certainly shocked that MGTOW are as bad at the actually going part of going their own way in person as they are on the internet
/s
Glad you got out and hope he stays away from you forever.
Hello Gr8Dane!
I’m glad you got out, and I’m glad you’re okay. As Troubelle says, stick around if you’d like to – no pressure.
If nothing else, remember that every comment you write will be read by tens or hundreds of thousands of people, some of whom may be in similar situations to the one that you were in. There’s a not-insignificant chance that just by posting that, you’ve helped someone recognise their own situation for what it is, and so helped them escape. Kindness is infectuous, after all.
It’s good to hear that you made it out of that relationship as smoothly as possible. Sometimes a dark voice in the back of my head worries that all of this is just venting and accomplishing nothing, then I hear stories like this, and it starts to feel “worth it”.
@Gr8Dane: Welcome! I’m really glad you got out of that situation.
@Gr8Dane
Welcome!
Wow!
To everyone who replied thank you and thank you for welcoming me into the WHTM tribe. I feel like I found my people.
@troubelle I checked my email and I have not received the welcome package of misandrist hard chairs and scented fucking candles. I have no idea what those are but am looking forward to finding out.
@Gr8Dane
The welcome package can be found in the sidebar.
@ gr8dane
Hello, and welcome.
The welcome package is over to the right if you’re on a computer or tablet and down below if you’re on a phone.
