Just some Republicans celebrating a bill that declares rape a preexisting condition

Ain’t no party like a Republican party (Click for larger version)

So as you presumably have all heard by now, the Republicans were able to get their Obamacare repeal bill through the House. Which means we need to 1) make sure they don’t get an equivalent bill through the Senate 2) make sure that all the Republicans who voted for this bill lose their jobs as soon as possible.

I’ve been filling up my Twitter with reactions to this shit, so, hey, why not open up a thread for you to share your reactions as well?

Throw them all out. #RESIST! #PERSIST! #BePISSED!

And maybe, if you like this sort of thing, watch a video of Dr. Pimple Popper squeezing out a #CYST! (I dunno, I find these videos sort of relaxing.)

As some have pointed out today, making rape a pre-existing condition will dissuade some rape survivors from reporting their rape to the police, lest they lose their health insurance.

Top 10 states with preexisting conditions all voted Trump. At least even with the possibility of having our loved ones die to poverty, at least we get to see definitive proof that karma exists.

So, the partially good news is, this isn’t even going to a vote in the Senate.

However, the pressure must be kept on, because who knows what fresh hell the Senate Republicans are going to come up with.

What really frosts my cookies is that this seems to have been the plan all along in the House; this way they get “credit” with the base for “repealing” the ACA, while they don’t actually have to do it.

These, ugh, I just can’t even. And don’t get me started on the media, I just about can’t even stand any of the news or newspaper outlets anymore, either.

And it’s only been a little over 100 days. I’m so tired.

Which is probably a feature, not a bug for Republicans.

1)another example to prove:

2)all red voters and negligent abstainers have blood on their hands and will for the rest of their lives. No sympathy for what happens to them if this or any other eldritch horror the GOP concocts becomes law

3)I just donated to ActBlue. If you can, and only if you’re sure you can, maybe think about doing so too. Resist! 🙂

this way they get “credit” with the base for “repealing” the ACA, while they don’t actually have to do it.

I think you might be on to something there. From across the Pond I noticed the rhetoric move from “Repeal!” to Repeal and replace” to “Reform”, as the reality of actually tackling the issue bit.

This way the ‘optics’ can be “we delivered on a manifesto commitment” without having to deal with the consequences.

Paradoxical Intention - Leader of the Deathclaw Damsels

So, while all this shit is going on, Trump signed another executive order that will partially dismantle the Johnson Amendment.

So now religious organizations can take political stances, and can do so without losing their non-profit status.

“Faith is deeply embedded into the history of our country, the spirit of our founding and the soul of our nation,” Trump said in the Rose Garden at a National Day of Prayer event with religious leaders and White House staff. “We will not allow people of faith to be targeted, bullied or silenced anymore.”

Yeah, White, “America First” Christian faith. Everyone else is most likely fucked on that point, considering Trump doesn’t give a damn. (Especially if they’re Muslim.)

So much for separation of church and state. Luckily this isn’t a full repeal of it, since that would require congressional action, but this is still really shitty and I’m really not happy about it.

Oh god damn it this is real, I thought I just misread an article heading or hallucinated it.
Edit: (also can someone provide me with sources for this I’d like to bring it up else where and not be discredited)

Welcome to the Theo-Fascist States of America.

Doubly so now that (some) churches can have their own para-military force:

ignore my previous comments about finding resources unless you don’t want to, I’ll do some research myself and share my findings here so anyone here who gets in a debate about this can have sources backing them

I’m one of the millions of people this bill could literally kill.

They’re drinking sick people’s blood with a smile. And then they act like we won’t see it staining their teeth.

They aren’t humans. They’re festering pustules. All of them. Every last one that voted for this. I’ve never hated anyone more.

dreemr: I’m not sure who they get credit with.

The base hates them for putting their government hands on their Obamacare, or hates them for not actually repealing Obamacare, depending on the time of day and the phase of the moon. Both ways is a lose.

The rich don’t actually get their tax cuts. I’m not sure participation trophies count when real money is on the line.

So they’ll either get primaried or lose to a Democratic candidate, or both.

Unless the senate follows through. Then people die, they lose, and their allied senator loses — unless they manage to change the subject to dangerous brown people.

If you live in a swing district that normally has close races between Democrats and moderate/centrist Republicans, you need to really turn up the heat. If your area’s local Republican Party tends to be more moderate, you may want to make sure they’re aware of what’s going on.

I have a mental health pre-existing condition. I’ll be bad off if this actually passes. The ACA meant I didn’t have to decide between paying rent or getting medication.

Trump also put out an EO giving churches free reign to engage in political activity without losing tax exempt status, but it doesn’t actually change anything and is just a stunt. Still terrifying.

As some have pointed out today, making rape a pre-existing condition will dissuade some rape survivors from reporting their rape to the police, lest they lose their health insurance.

It’s so incomprehensibly evil, I think they partially did it so that their cultists will think MSM is exaggerating or making things up. They have learned that when they include the most disgusting things they want in a bill it makes the sheep less likely to believe attacks on it, so now they feel unrestrained.

I am an attack victim. Denying coverage to overcome that type of circumstance is unacceptable and immoral. Thank god my 4 years is up of getting therapy and tested for AIDS and HIV every six months is over but for anyone who does need those type of services should undeniably be covered. How can you be denied coverage for something you had no control over that severly affected your life? Especially something as horrible as being attacked. If anything, the attackeers (if they are found, which mine wasn’t) should be held accountable for the costs needed. Either way, any attack vitcim should never have to pay to recover from the heinous acts he or she endured.

I wish I had the 411 on this bill in progress. I would of protested the hell out of it.

I couldn’t do much with calling my House rep beforehand because ze was already adamantly against the bill. I did leave messages for my senators (I’m in FL) already today and I will keep calling. But I fear that some senators (like Rubio) won’t give a flying fuck, because they aren’t going to be up for reelection again until 2022.

And I can’t stand looking at news about this right now, because the sight of those evil fucks cracking open beers to celebrate is making me retch and shake. I’m actually *hoping* for a dissociative episode right now (something that is typically highly unpleasant for me) because I’m so panicked and flooded with stress hormones and unable to process this.

Fucking hell.

Internet hugs (if they’re wanted) to Victorious Parasol and all the other Mammotheers who are in the same boat.

David – I hope you’re right that we can stop this in the Senate. Thanks for fighting and covering this stuff through the fear. Many hugs to you too, if you want them.

Sorry for the multiposting but I wanted to share this in case any fellow USians might find it helpful in the future…

I happened to have a doc appointment today and he gave me a GoodRx card to help me pay for prescrips if/when shit hits the fan. There are no guarantees they’ll have what you need, of course, but there’s an enormous variety of common meds available through the program with heavily reduced prices if you don’t have insurance. They have an app where you can compare those prices between pharmacies as well. Of course you’d still need to have a low-cost clinic somewhere in your area…

Re: the religious “rights” executive order
*sigh* Well, my progressive baptist church (yes, really… lesbian deacon, gay weddings fine… kicked out of several “Baptist” church organizations because we didn’t say “no” to those things) can now say “Trump’s bad” without losing charity status, but really, we wouldn’t say such a thing because “Separation of Church & State” is still a thing.

Mr Orange is heading towards more total Executive Orders than any President since WW2, and will almost definitely surpass Obama’s average number, possibly in 2 years. Thank goodness they don’t have the same “Law of the Land” status as Trump seems to think they do.

Turns out he’s having as much trouble with Congress as Obama… “Who knew how difficult this ‘politics stuff’ was?”
