You may have seen a screenshot from the Anarcho_Capitalism subreddit making the rounds on Twitter, showing a post asking the supremely creepy question “Is having daughters the ultimate cuckoldry?”– and answering the question in the affirmative.
The post — apparently copied and pasted to r/Anarcho_Capitalism as a joke — seems to have originated on 4chan’s /b/, where it was evidently meant quite seriously.
Read on, if you think you’ll be able to stomach it:
While the incest angle makes this one of the creepiest things I’ve read on the internet in some time, the logic here is more or less identical to that of every alt-right racist who rants about “white genocide” after seeing a white woman out walking with a black man.
It’s the same logic you hear from MGTOWs and Red Pillers and MRAs when they complain about allegedly post-wall thirtysomething women marrying “beta providers” after allegedly “giving away their best years” to the parade of alpha males who allegedly had sex with their younger, more attractive selves before they hit that dreaded “wall.”
These guys essentially feel that every “hot” woman’s body rightfully belongs to them — if not to them personally, then at least to men like them. Alt-right racists feel “cucked” when attractive white women date men of color. MGTOWs feel cucked when women date alleged alphas — even if the “cock carousel” that MGTOWs spend so much of their time grousing about is basically something they’ve cooked up in their own little heads.
Hell, some guys end up working themselves into a frenzy because women they’re actually dating have dated other men before. That’s right; even if they’re in a committed monogamous relationship with a woman they love, they still feel like they’re being continually “cucked” by all the men she dated in the past.
So, yeah, it only makes sense that some of these guys might decide that every man with daughters is getting cucked big league because fathers aren’t allowed to have sex with the young women they’ve provided for over the course of their first 18 years.
Even paraphrasing this “argument” makes me feel a bit unclean.
I can only hope that whoever posted the original /b/ post doesn’t actually have any daughters. Given that he’s posting on /b/ I think that’s a fairly safe assumption. Let’s just hope he never has any children at all. The world is screwed up enough as it is.

Another reason I should not recommend Bioshock Infinite to the mentioned group, lest they take that self induced plot injury too far. In fact, I’m not sure if I should really be recommending anything to them at all that doesn’t involve profanities. Well, I take that back: ET for the Atari is something I might peddle to the altright out of grim amusement. I’m afraid they would like the world’s other objectively terrible games (Ride to Hell: Retribution, Duke Nukem Forever, etc.) for that to work.
@Bakunin
Oh I know! There are even anarcho-capitalists who very specifically despise Austrians (the school, not the country, save for Hitler) and neoliberals, which makes sense given the latter’s association with authoritarianism and the former’s allergy to math.
@Serebrianyi Golub
Different categories, though I will admit a lot of alleged x are x in name only. The alt-right in particular, fascists that they are, tend to vocally reject both socialism and capitalism as their predecessors did. In the process they often, like their predecessors, blame both on the Jews and their vast global conspiracy.
@QuantumInc
Yeah, that does seem to be a belief.
It must be the theory behind Frank Sinatra’s outburst at female reporters in Australia who asked him questions he didn’t want to answer.
“I’ll give ya a quarter,” he famously offered.
Although Sinatra had a wonderful voice, he didn’t always class up a joint.
As the dad of a wonderful girl…I really want to punch this guy so much. I actually think I might if he said that in person, and I am not at all given to violence.
@Andrew
And that’s why he’s Anonymous.
@Scolar Visari:
Heh. Love it…
😀
@Andrew:
I can’t blame you. I haven’t had kids yet, though I’d like to, and would very much like to have a daughter – so everything stated in that post was fucking grotesque to me.
As far as the whole “anarcho-capitalism” thing goes: I think the term is pretty much an oxymoron, given a component of anarchy is the rejection of hierarchies and capitalism seems to thrive on such to sustain itself. With how private corporations are often set up and how worshiped their upper management are among right-wing libertarians, calling it “anarchic” comes off like a sick joke.
It’s like someone calling themselves a “democratic fascist” to me…
@MrsObedMarsh,
YOU!!
*points finger dramatically*
?
So…
What happens if the daughter has an upbringing like mine, and starts “having sex” at age seven? Is that still cuckoldry? Would the mtgow father still care about her?
Oh, also…
At this point “actually both sides are bad” is the only uniting theme of the BioShock series. Everyone who cares about politics is evil, so whatever the government does, it’s best to just keep your head down and accept it, y’know!
@Bat’leth
Interesting. It’s missing the intense squeamishness and persistent, hyperactive dread, but I’m about it! Now, I just need genetics degree… 🙂
@Lea:
Bingo. And just to carry this ill-logic on their part to its logical end (if that makes any sense), I think they see incest and child sexual abuse as the “freedoms” that are their due as penis-bearing males. They’re big, sulky babies who can’t bear to hear the word NO, ever. Their politics, their economics, their sexual fantasies, all reflect this. They want there to be no limits to how much of an asshole you can be.
I say they can go ahead and do it to each other if they’re so inclined. On a desert island with all kinds of venomous crawlies, an active volcano, frequent cyclones, and no cover. With no women, no children, nothing. Just them, left to duke it out amongst themselves. They think that the “strong” will survive? Let’s see how they do in a truly libertarian cage match. Last one left gets a free boat ticket out, but only if he’s duly chastened.
@Diptych
You see if you give a black women power she’ll bring about the evils of communism and kill your children in front of you. But that’s okay that’s just an alternate timeline that Elizabeth literally doesn’t need to bother with. Oh and let’s not forget the fact that the Vox Populi basically validates Dewitt’s beliefs. Booker Dewitt is a Pinkerton Agent. Pinkerton Agents brutalize union workers on behalf of company overlords. By having the current despots be terrible people but also have the workers be the equivalent of other revolutions, you can make the reading that Pinkerton Agents were justified and that workers should be put down. “The current corporate system isn’t wrong, it was just handled by bad subjects and bad rulers.”
Fuck you Booker Dewitt. If this was American RailRoad Bioshock he’d be beating up Chinese workers. It’s okay the token sidechick’s timey wimey would say that they’d install a Red Dragon Regime and overthrow the US.
I can’t even fathom a world where “having a daughter is automatic cuckoldry” makes sense.
RosieLa
I’m so sorry that happened to you. You deserve all the hugs and kisses in the world.
@Oogly
I’m a black woman communist.
I AM LITERALLY THE ENEMY
Seriously. Oh, and speaking of Elizabeth, at least she’s a powerful and moderately interesting female character! And she’s got her own DLC! …where she’s stripped of her power, held captive and tortured by a powerful man, and then dies alone in order to set off the story of the protagonist of the original BioShock, AKA the World’s Blandest Man. Yaaaaay…
Yeah… this honestly seems to be it. They see anything stopping them from hurting others, not as protecting those others’ liberty, but as an unjustifiable restriction on their own.
@Diptych
Honestly I find Jack and Subject Delta tons more interesting an nuanced. At least with Subject Delta the entire metaphor boils down to “hey mate can you try being a good role model for your kid, it’d be really nice if you did.”
@Franscesca Torpedo
Would you mind telling me the name of the anime girl in your avi? I have an idea but I’m having trouble finding a good quality image of her.
@Oogly-senpai
I got her off the cover of one of my favorite Super Eurobeat albums, and unfortunately I don’t know her name. :C
Sorry.
You can have the full-size album art, though. I assume she’s a Race Queen of some sort.
Oh god, so Bioshock turns into South Park?
I’ve only played the first game, but that was insufferable enough until the second half. If it gets worse in Infinite, I think I’ll stop after 2.
@Oogly
She’s apparently from a game called Zenkoku Seifuku Bishoujo Grand Prix – Find Love, released in Japan only for the Sega Saturn in 1997. Her actual name I have not been able to learn, nor the nature of the game. It is described as a puzzle game, and may be pornographic in nature.
@Dalillama
Thanks!
That confirms my suspicions that she is probably a race queen.
I think people really take too shallow an interpretation of the Bioshock games. Bioshock as a series (at least 1 and infinite because 2 involved different creators) is not principally about the political fantasy realms they are set in.
Bioshock is unique in that the games are primarily about critiquing the interaction between a player and the writer of a game.
Hear me out. The other criticisms of Bioshock are pretty dead on, the politics of the worlds they are set in are pretty fucked and barely examined because they are mostly an excuse plot for the gameplay.
However (major spoilers) consider the first game, the true story is revealed halfway through and it’s a meta-story about how you, the player specifically, not the character, has been mind controlled by the writer of the game (represented by Atlas) to murder their way through the entire game because as a player you’re used to following objective markers around without questioning it (the objective markers were all set by Atlas asking “would you kindly?”). Bioshock’s gameplay gives you lots of choice on how to approach combat to help contrast and blind you to the fact that the writers lead you around by the nose and you never question it.
However the first game falls apart because it keeps going after this reveal and you supposedly “break” the mind control despite the player’s relationship to the objective marker remaining the same. They didn’t know how to end it properly and in interviews Levine mentioned that he regretted the back half of 1.
In Infinite they carry it off much better. At the end of the game Elizabeth regains her power and gets into a detailed meta-explanation of how the player had infinite worlds (infinite ways to approach the game and many combinations of different choices the player is offered in the playthrough) but still ended up in the same place.
The player is offered freedom in the game world but Infinite is making the point that no matter how much choice is offered within the game the writer still directly controls and corrals the player while maintaining a mere illusion of choice.
Infinite critiques the notion of choice and morality in games by asserting that the writer controls the player. Your choices don’t matter (none of the choices in this game change anything at all) because the writer decides what effect the choices have. Regardless of how you act as Booker at the end Elizabeth still strangles you to death for being an evil man.
Bioshock as a series is primarily a critique of the notion that videogames can offer meaningful choice in narrative. The player does not get to project their morality onto a character in the game world, rather the writer is projecting their morality onto the player’s actions.
Bioshock 1 says to you truthfully that everything you did, you did because we the writers told you to and you didn’t see anything wrong with that until we pointed that out.
Bioshock Infinite says even when we offer you choice as the player that is an illusion because the writer controls the story and not the player.
Sorry to go off on a long thing but I find it really interesting, if you think I’m way off think about whether or not the story of these games is
really about the ideologies represented. Andrew Ryan doesn’t try to tell you why Libertarianism is the bomb for most of the game, he asks you why you’re doing this?
Oh my god I’m so sorry I love Bioshock games too much and I went overboard.
I found a video of Zenkoku Seifuku Bishoujo Grand Prix – Find Love, on you tube,yup, its a porn game. A pretty soft core and pretty lame as well. looks like its just a bunch of super simplistic mini-games like sliding tile game and a memory game to unlock nude pics
@Mortarius
yeah about the only real choice you have in bioshock is whether to save or harvest the little sisters. I chose to save them.
