The Daily Beast takes on the creepy Republican politician who founded the Red Pill subreddit

Robert Fisher: Red Pill Republican

So here’s an interesting little scoop: According to the Daily Beast, the long-anonymous creator of the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad Red Pill subreddit is, IRL, a Republican politician — specifically, New Hampshire 9th district state representative Robert Fisher, known better in Red Pill circles as Pk_atheist.

“It’s possible that now, four-and-a-half years after Red Pill’s founding, Fisher may regret his creation,” Bonnie Bacarisse drily notes.

When reached for comment by phone, Fisher denied participation in the Red Pill forum, claiming not to know what The Red Pill was. Though he did say he had heard of the men’s rights movement, he said he hadn’t heard of PUA. “What is a pickup artist?” he asked.

This denial aside, the extensively researched Daily Beast story makes a pretty convincing case that Fisher and Pk_atheist are one and the same. And there’s this:

Within hours of contacting Rep. Fisher, and after delivering by email a summary of his apparent connections to The Red Pill kingpin, his two primary Reddit usernames had been wiped, and four blogs connected to him were deleted or made private. He has not returned additional requests for comment.

While Fisher wasn’t an elected official when he (allegedly) founded The Red Pill in 2012, he’s been a Republican state rep since 2014. He also seems to be a cool dude with super-awesome friends.

Online, Fisher describes himself as an “attractive businessman” who owns a “small empire.” According to his Facebook, he is the COO of Same Day Computer, which operates two locations in New Hampshire. He was also the sole member of his indie-electronic band, The Five Nines, which may or may not still be active. …

Fisher purchased the computer-repair franchise from its founder, failed New Hampshire state senate candidate Joshua Youssef, who, according to the Concord Monitor, violated state election law by publishing a deceptive blog to “make it appear that his ex-wife’s attorney had endorsed his candidacy.”

It turns out that the alleged Red Pill founder has been allegedly saying many, many terrible things about women online over the five years since the founding of The Red Pill — and even before.

I suspect many of his constituents, especially the human females amongst them, will be thrilled to learn of his Red Pill philosophy. Indeed, Bacarisse notes, “Fisher’s past comments on a host of Reddit forums are arguably far more disturbing” than some of the more notorious comments of his less-than-enlightened Republican dude politicians in New Hampshire.

He blasted women for their “sub-par intelligence.” He said that women’s personalities are “lackluster and boring, serving little purpose in day to day life.” And Fisher once commented, “It is literally the [female] body that makes enduring these things worth it.”

But there’s more! (There’s always more.) In assorted posts, he expressed his great appreciation for “slut shaming” and his unhappiness with female autonomy.

“Marriage, and yes, female oppression, slut shaming, religion, these were all a means to control hypergamy … ” Fisher wrote on The Red Pill in November 2012.

“To give women autonomy is to take away the very thing that made marriage a realistic institution…  what I dislike is the general attitude that somehow we owe [women] something for sex … ” Fisher wrote on his blog Dating American, in 2012—just weeks before establishing The Red Pill.

It may not come as a giant shock to learn that Fisher has not been completely thrilled with his dating life.

He complained that girls were ghosting on him and standing him up. He aired grievances about the character of women: They were uninteresting, immature, unintelligent, lacked depth, and were entitled. He bemoaned that dating was easier for women. He felt it was unjust that women get a free ride, believing “a pair of boobs grants [them] equal footing with somebody bringing intelligence or a personality.”

Like a lot of his Red Pill brethren, Fisher is positively obsessed with alleged false rape accusations, and claimed that one of his ex-girlfriends once threatened to falsely accuse him.

“If you’re unattractive, feminism tells us, you’re likely a rapist,”he wrote in one Red Pill post.”[M]en are tip-toeing to make sure they don’t accidentally become rapists themselves.”

And it only gets creepier from here.

In 2008, writing under the username FredFredrickson, Fisher posited that the notion that “rape is bad” was not an absolute truth. He wrote, “I’m going to say it—Rape isn’t an absolute bad, because the rapist I think probably likes it a lot. I think he’d say it’s quite good, really.”

Though he stated he “doesn’t advocate breaking the law,” Fisher said online in 2012 that a 40-year-old man asking to see the breasts of a 15-year-old wasn’t creepy. Instead, he said it was “evolutionarily advantageous and perfectly natural.”

Fisher’s Red Pill beliefs aren’t just something he’s shared anonymously online:

As a candidate for state representative, Fisher proposed bringing concerns about the supposed plague of false rape accusations into the statehouse. Hosting a forum on Reddit under the username RobertFisherforNH, Fisher sought ideas to prevent “innocent people [from] receiving jail time.” He argued that because in rape cases “police err on the side of caution,” and show a high level of support for victims, the system was “susceptible to abuse” by women.

Given his noxious views, you may be pleased to note that Fisher is not what you’d call an influential politician, even on the state level. Partly because he seems to be a very lazy one.

“At his request, Fisher serves on no committees in the New Hampshire House,” Bacarisse notes. “Out of the 114 record votes so far during the 2017 session, Fisher has cast votes in half.”

Hopefully, after news of all this gets to his constituents, Fisher will go from being an ineffectual politician to being an ineffectual ex-politician.

Citing Dalrock as a source is on par with citing Stormfront or Infowars.

So then, are you saying that you don’t actually know of any specific laws that are discriminatory towards men? If that’s the case, how do you know that they exist? If you identify problems in the court system, how do you know that it’s due to laws themselves, and not other factors, if you don’t know any of the applicable laws?

Also, can you tell me, of those 9/10 divorces where the mother gets custody, how many were contested, i.e.: how many actually went through family court? Or maybe a better question: Can you tell me how often fathers get the custody arrangement that they are seeking? Because some fathers don’t want custody, so including those cases in the 9/10 figure skews the data.

And you know what? I’m not “fine” with women getting custody 90% of the time, because I think that the societal expectation that men always be the primary breadwinners and women always be the primary caregivers is bad for women, men, and children. In my ideal world, having children wouldn’t be a liability for women who want careers, and fathers would be involved in their children’s lives as caregivers and positive role models. But getting from where we are today to my ideal world will involve a lot of changes in various aspects of society – flextime and paid parental leave as the standard in every industry, equitable division of chores and childcare duties in each household, etc.

While we’re working toward that, it only makes sense that a primary breadwinner should help the primary caregiver provide for their children’s welfare. If that breadwinner happens to be a man and that caregiver happens to be a woman, so be it. But I hope in the future we’ll see men and women sharing breadwinner and caregiving responsibilities more evenly.

I didn’t think this troll was particularly funny.

But then he used Dalrock as a citation.

Not as funny as the all caps meltdown Miggs had after experiencing the horror of Beyonce gifs, but it’s a baby step in the right direction.

-That’s because “credible sources” are the Young Turks, Huffington Post, Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS Colbert, Trever Noah the View and every other establishment corporate owned MSM propaganda mouthpiece. These are “credible sources” according to you guys. Any source that agrees with your emotions is credible.

NOTHING has been disproven on this website by using any MSM as a “source”. Even Alex Jones is 100x more credible than these “sources”.

See. I can feel the emotions rising up. He hates single mothers ! Bigot ! Liar! Hater ! Show the facts ! Interview 20 million inmates ! Then do your own data !

Oh wait? You did interview 20 million inmates??? Did you do an extensive background investigation on 20 million inmates? No! Then you don’t have any facts !

See. It’s a cop out. We have 20 years of data showing single motherhood ruins society.

But you people just want to believe whatever you want. All emotions. All feelings. You “think” with your “feelings”. That’s why its impossible to get through to you people.

RE: Troll

I think it's worth noting that I've never seen or heard of an MRA having a point they could actually prove. I'm pretty sure that the entire reactionary movement has no use for proof, since no matter how you slice it the evidence proves them wrong.

They pick and choose disingenuous, lying ways of presenting things based solely on whether or not it supports their pre-existing misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia. Also racism, classism, and other bigotries.

This guy reminds me of Mike Cernovich. Cernovich was charged with sexual assault while he was a law student in 2003. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and he was convicted and his criminal record ended up expunged. He started blogging in 2004 and initially gave the standard Reason magazine right-libertarian arguments against “prosecutorial overreach” in rape cases. Then he gradually moved to fascist alt-right views.

Right-libertarianism has actually always been a friend to fascism. I know I mention Pinochet and the Chicago boys a lot in this context, but it is very telling.

Wrong. Right-Libertarianism is totally incompatible with Fascism.

Fascism is joint authoritarianism by marriage of government and corporations.

Such a system has nothing to do with libertarianism. Libertarianism is about maximizing free market capitalism and liberty for individuals and businesses and letting the social cards fall where they may fall.

Feminists, such as yourself, would not be able to force businesses, to pay for maternity leave (i.e. women’s choices) under Libertarianism.

There’s a guy on a musician’s forum I’m a regular on who uses the screen name Murray Rothbard. I hope he means it as a joke, as the real Rothbard was a real creep. Amongst other things he advocated the idea that children should be allowed to be sold like property, and that parents should have the right to let their children die. And he’s considered an important figure by some American libertarians.

RE: Rep. Robert Fisher. He grew up in the town next to my home town, and went to high school three miles away from mine. He represents the town I was born in, and he is one of my sister’s reps. There are many more like him — his sort of delusional thinking is quite common. People like him get into the legislature because there are so many seats and it pays next to nothing, so it appeals to cranks of various flavors. The good side is that since it is fairly easy to get elected and pays poorly, a lot of bored, well-educated housewifes* have gotten elected, found that they were actually good at governmenting, and become leaders. Both of our US Senators, Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, started in the legislature, rose to leadership positions, got elected Governor and then to the US Senate. State Legislatures can be looked at as a sort of development league for aspiring leaders, and ours has proved particularly successful in being a “farm team” for members of Congress — particularly women.

*Most people — including women — who have demanding careers can’t afford to spare the time for such small pay.

Dalrock is so Christ-fuckingly terrible even by MRA standards that he was one of David’s inspirations for starting this blog. You’d almost be better off citing Elam, Roosh, Heartiste or Vox Day; at least they have name recognition.

So in other words you don’t have any proof. You can’t even link to Dalrock you need us to look up everything for you. Is completely lacking sources or factual knowledge also a label?

“Yup. I’ve just been called a bigot and homophobe for saying women minorities and homosexuals are “in charge””

I mean bigot was already confirmed by everything else you’ve said.

I’ve had practice with my inner asshole (maybe a wierd tourettes privilige?)and two decades of internet assholes. The conservative, religious, male, cis, military background makes it a lot easier for certain. I came from a culture used to acting socially aggressive and dominant but was forced to constantly control it all. Now I’m just trying to do something useful with it.

It fight itself gets easier because the patterns get more obvious in the moment, but it’s often hard to put the broader patterns into words for someone else for some odd reason.

@ Dave:

-That’s because “credible sources” are the Young Turks, Huffington Post, Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS Colbert, Trever Noah the View and every other establishment corporate owned MSM propaganda mouthpiece. These are “credible sources” according to you guys. Any source that agrees with your emotions is credible.

No. Credible sources have nothing to do with my emotions, but your projection is mildly amusing, even if it’s wholly predictable.

Credible sources can be objectively tested. They don’t always agree with each other, because sometimes the data will lead people to different conclusions, but still, there’s a general consensus. Peer review is a great way to establish this kind of consensus, by the way. It seems unlikely you’ll agree, but, hey, your alternative facts keep you angry and confused, so I guess they’re working? If that’s your goal, anyhow.

And, sure, I consider the MSM to be by and large a credible source of information, because some of the more reliable media outlets have been doing this for literally centuries, and their reputation (and success) relied wholly on being credible. I do still fact-check sources against each other though, because people make mistakes, and people have biases. But that’s kind of the whole idea here, Dave: don’t just settle for what supports the beliefs you already have; instead, seek out multiple sources and views and see how they contradict and how they support each other.

Regardless, the nonsense you’re pushing is wholly incredible; that is to say, your rejection of consensus fact and your desire to create a new emotion-based epistemology isn’t interesting to me.

Even government data/statistics from the CDC , Census Dept, and DOJ and HUD are shouted down as lies – unless they agree with your emotions and feelings.

Citation needed. Once again you’re making sweeping generalizations about the majority of the world (and pretty much everyone here) with nothing to back it up. I’ve never shouted down such statistics as lies. Can you link to a post where someone else here did so? Anyone?

No, I didn’t think so.

The “you” that you’re addressing (again and again) is wholly imaginary, Dave. You’ve imagined these people with all sorts of terrible hypocritical views, and you’re railing against them. But they’re not here, Dave, and by and large they probably don’t exist anywhere at all.

8/10 State and Federal prison inmates are the product of SINGLE MOTHERS. True or false?

It’s your claim, sunshine. YOU have the burden of proof. I’m not interested in doing your homework to support your nutty unsourced claims.

See. I can feel the emotions rising up. He hates single mothers ! Bigot ! Liar! Hater ! Show the facts ! Interview 20 million inmates ! Then do your own data !

No, there are no emotions rising here. I’m responding because I enjoy the process of discussing ideas with people who don’t agree with me, not because you’re making me angry or frustrated. Having said that, it’s not terribly enjoyable to talk to you, Dave, and I won’t continue for long. You’ve taken enough of my time and interest for today.

Sure, I think you have an unhealthy attitude towards most people, and sure, you’ve shown yourself to be misogynist, homophobic, and racist, and, sure that means you doubtless do hate single mothers. But I’m not basing that determination on your unsourced random claim about single mothers. I’m basing it on the many things you’ve said on this site in the last couple of days.

Also, yes, you do need to show the facts. That doesn’t require you to interview any inmates, and if you DID, there’s no reason I should trust your word about it. You’re not trustworthy, Dave. Why in the world would I believe you if you said you did the research yourself?

Would you believe me if I made a similar claim? I rather doubt it.

Showing the facts means showing a credible source. But then we’ve already been down this road, haven’t we? You have no interest in credible sources.

But you people just want to believe whatever you want. All emotions. All feelings. You “think” with your “feelings”. That’s why its impossible to get through to you people.

Dave… Dave, Dave, Dave. Look, man. Your projection is getting positively overwhelming.

I understand that you’re not terribly self-aware, but this is just comical.

Ah well, I tried.

I wish you’d actually included a link to back this shit up. But I’ll take you at your word about the 8/10 thing despite you not having earned any benefit of the doubt. Just for the sake of argument.

I don’t actually deny that it’s likely that a lot of inmates come from families led by a single mother.

What I do deny is your claim that this means that single motherhood ruins society. I would bet the entire contents of my bank account that no credible studies have even made this claim.

You – who so ironically talk about how we’re deriving our opinions from emotions instead of facts – don’t seem to grasp an extremely basic social science 101 concept. Correlation does not imply causation.

Low SES women are more likely to become single mothers than middle or upper SES women. Low SES people are more likely to end up in prison than middle or upper SES people. The link here is most likely poverty. Simply looking at a correlation does not tell us that single motherhood in and of itself ruins anything. And neat how you and all the other right wing scolds always seem to omit the father’s share of the responsibility isn’t it?

When you say feminists “deny” statistics, I think you just mean that you misinterpreted the statistics and you’re not smart enough to realize it.
