James Woods wants you to know how much he really, really hates Hillary Clinton

James Woods: Twitter creep

I always feel a little sad when I learn that some actor or actress I like turns out to have terrible politics. I’m still recovering from my recent discovery that Mike Nelson of MST3K fame is a right winger who loves the Washington Times and Michael Medved. Michael Freaking Medved!! Maybe he really should be shot into space to watch bad films for all eternity.

And then there’s James Woods, so good at playing creepy charmers, perhaps most memorably in David Cronenberg’s Videodrome. It’s one of my favorite films and he’s a big part of what makes it great (I mean, alongside Debbie Harry and a really weird TV set). But alas, in real life he’s a lot more creepy than charming, an obsessive right-wing Obama-hater (with a girlfriend more than forty years his junior) who spent years attacking the now-ex-President on Twitter.

Now, in the age of Trump, he’s moved on from Obama. For the most part.

But he can’t seem to let go of Hillary Clinton. Even today, nearly six months after she lost the election and 95 days into Trumps’ regime, Woods’ Twitter is filled with bizarre attacks on Hillary.

If you haven’t looked in on Woods’ Twitter before, you may be a bit surprised just how unhinged many of his political tweets are, rife with conspiratorial thinking (he was one of the #Pizzagate believers) and weird racist digs.

Here he is calling former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice a “savage” and demanding her arrest.

Meanwhile, his assorted tweets about Sen. Elizabeth Warren — or as he likes to call her, Princess Fauxcahontas — inevitably reference her American Indian blood in the crudest (and most hackneyed) possible ways.

It’s safe to say he hates Democrats generally.

He really, really doesn’t like abortion, or Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards.

And he has one of the most, er, creative takes on the whole O’Reilly thing I’ve seen.

He still throws in the occasional anti-Obama tweet, for old times sake.

And he’s got a lingering obsession with Susan Rice that is too tedious to even bother to document here.

But his greatest nemesis, at least for now, remains Hillary. Or, as he prefers to call her, The Hildebeest, or “Darth Vader in drag.”

Woods, who famously sued a Twitter user who called him a “cocaine addict,” frequently suggests, none-too-subtly, that Hillary is a raging alcoholic.

He even manages to work cat and rabbit gifs into his anti-Hillary fantasies.

Really, dude? You see a gif of a kitten bopping a baby bunny and the first thing you think is, “ha ha, that reminds me of Hillary Clinton, who by the way is a total drunk!”

If I may quote the famous Hollywood actor James Woods, “stop talking.”

According to Wikipedia Hillary’s slightly younger than James Woods. Why attack her in terms of appearance and age, like he did in the “darth vader in drag” Tweet? What does that mean for Woods?

Then again, he probably thinks men get “distinguished” as they age whereas women “hit the wall”.

How do you argue against that?

Point out the the entire purpose of the statues in question was to rewrite history from the beginning. Removing them is an effort to correct the historical record. If you can, and can convince him to read it, get him a copy of Loewen’s Lies Across America.

@Valentine
Those are called Intrusive Thoughts,(The design of that website annoys me a lot, but their info appears to be good from my initial scan) and are quite common, especially in company with anxiety, depression, social phobias, and/or ptsd. Sympathy and solidarity; it’s something I have often, to a greater or lesser degree varying with time. *hugs* also offered.

@valentine: If it helps, and not to make light of your situation whatsoever, it sounds like you’re experiencing a common problem to an uncommon degree. You seem to be describing intrusive thoughts, which aren’t so uncommon. I have them on occasion. They’re stronger than usual in your case, but it’s not, like, an alien situation. If that makes any sense.

Good thing you’re here to explain feminism to a bunch of feminists, ross.

ross’s post is much more entertaining if you imagine that he’s Ross from Friends.

Some people are so painfully mislead. You need education on the whole Feminism thing is…And desperately, my goodness that was painful to read.

Aww, bless. Did you really mean feminism there, or were you actually trying to talk about going your own way, something you’re manifestly failing to do? Don’t let us detain you…

Ross: “You feminsts need to educated on feminsm.”

Also Ross: “Pizzagate is real.”

You’ll forgive me if I don’t take much stock in your ability to educate anyone.

I’m occasionally reminded that there are people in this country (USA) who would be more comfortable with me owning my husband than being married to him.

It is always unpleasant.

Hey, Ross! I’m betting that you think that the Nazis were leftists. Do I win?

@ Dalillama & helix

Thank you for your quick support. Right now my internet is too slow to load the annoying website but i will try to do it as soon as i can.

I didnt know it was so common, i was afraid to tell anyone in case they thought something was wrong with me. Perhaps i can share with my close friends when i am home again. It is quite stressful for me to deal with it when i am alone.

Looks like i managed to load it up now. I understand what you mean about the lay out. But it does offer some good explanations. Problem for me now is getting to the resources they have there cos as you can probably tell my internet is very bad. Also they didn’t mention what you do if you already acted on some thouguts.
Seems like also their categories are quite limited, but then they say the brain does lots of things so maybe you wont fit a category.
But thanks for the link. I will be able to use the information until i get home again in August/September.

Also *hugs* ))))

I second Dalillama and Helix_luko. What you’re describing, IS very common.

I used to suffer from obsessive, unwanted thoughts…I still do, to a much lesser degree than I used to. I found, that SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) medication, worked wonders for me. I don’t know how available they are outside of the US, though.

On top of seconding what others have said, I wanted to reply to this specifically:

But now i feel not only crazy like i have since the begining, but also racist and disgusting.

From what it sounds like, your intrusive thoughts center around things that make you incredibly uncomfortable; it brings forward actions and thoughts that you know are unacceptable. So as you learn more about racism, it gives your intrusive thoughts more uncomfortable things to make you think. I’d take that more as an indication that you understand and have internalized the idea that racism is unacceptable, rather than some sort of latent racism being expressed.

Hillary’s senior thesis at Wellesley actually criticized Saul Alinsky (apart from agreeing with him that the Great Society anti-poverty programs don’t work). She has always been more to the center on economic issues, and she’s even somewhat to the right of Obama.

She’s never been known for being particularly feminist, so I don’t see why MRA’s hate her so much.

@Dormousing_it

I am not sure about the medication, but because of the nature of my job if i am on antidepressants or anti anxiety medication i will not be able to pass my medical exam. The problem is now i am at sea until avgust or September and i am afraid that the intrusive thoughts becoming more serious and i also beleived i acted on some recently this time I was home. I wont be able to do any proper research until i am home because internet here is very slow and also some sites blocked (((

@dlouwe

Thank you. This is one thing that concern me alot. Because i felt like i am becoming the exact thing i think i should not be. And i become very worried also because the ship will be arriving in the united states in one month and i am afraid i will act on the racist thoughts. Also my best friend has a girl friend who is black and i was so nervous i would say something or do something because of the thoughts i didn’t get to know her properly.

Woods notoriously took out a restraining order against then-girlfriend Sean Young after their relationship in the late-eighties, thereby starting the whole rumour that she was “crazy” and “unstable.” Because this is Hollywood, her career began to go into decline while his continued just okay. One truly wonders what she was put through by him, but of course men rarely suffer consequences in Hollywood for being raging bullies, while women get tagged with “difficult” and “crazy” and so on…

As for his politics, he claims to have been a Democrat until the Clinton era, when Bill’s alleged corruption caused him to switch allegiances. I kind of wonder if Woods had political aspirations of his own at the time, only to be rejected by the Dems, and his total 180-switch is a result of wounded ego. Just speculating, but he sure seems like that kind of gross, vindictive egomaniac.

At the very least, antics like this probably ensure he’s not getting hired all that much these days. He hasn’t done a helluva lot since his TV series Shark was canned nearly a decade ago.

I knew Woods was right-wing, but holy fuck, I had no idea he was this bad.

I also knew about Mike Nelson being right-wing for a while too. In truth, I’ve been ambivalent about MST3K. There have been some really funny gags on it, but others left a really bad taste in my mouth, especially if Japan is involved (TV Tropes‘s subjective tropes page talks a bit about how Japan as a whole was singled out for jokes). When I hear people say they can’t stand MST3K because the humor reminds them of being bullied I don’t blame them.

That Patton Oswalt’s involved with the new version doesn’t please me nearly as much as it does a lot of people. Again, he’s done tremendously funny jokes, but I discovered he’s made a lot of transphobic jokes on Twitter and lately he’s been whining about how he thinks social justice advocates are the left-wing Tea Party when they call his friends out. That was when I realized just how important it is to be able to drop a favorite talent and not make excuses for them.

@Valentine
I also agree on “intrusive thoughts”. It’s not that uncommon and can be controlled. The related perceptual abilities can even be sharper than average. I get a lot of that with the tourette’s syndrome in addition to the physical tics, I think of them as mental tics. The category of thought is also similar to the socially inappropriate urges that I have to suppress.

If you have been anxious you may have been engaging in circular rumination the same thing and the thought pattern may have taken on a life of it’s own.

I’m guessing most antifa probably aren’t democratic party supporters, and that the KKK broadly switched over to the GOP after they adopted the southern strategy.

“She’s never been known for being particularly feminist, so I don’t see why MRA’s hate her so much.”

She’s a woman and she has political power, what more are you confused about? Most of the time, “she’s a woman” is enough for MRA’s to hate someone.

Most antifa I know are to the left of the democratic party (the again so are a lot of democrats I know),
And yeah the KKK did the party swap back when a democrat signed a law basically saying black people are human.

I have intrusive thoughts too. I understand how these can lead a person to think that maybe they’re not a good person. But they’re just thoughts.

And if you do something that you don’t want to do, you’re not choosing to do it of your own free will.

Consider finding a therapist, maybe one who specializes in obsessive compulsive disorder, to discuss this with.

Not everyone is understanding about such issues, so you might want to consider carefully which family members and which friends to tell. Maybe discuss this issue with a therapist.

Sending you my wishes for an improvement in your situation.
