Idiots, douchebags and idiotic douchebags defend Bill O’Reilly on Twitter

Bill O: He will be missed. By assholes.

As every single person on your Twitter timeline has no doubt informed you by now, the execrable Bill O’Reilly is finally — finally! — out at Fox News. Not everyone is happy with this development.

Here’s a roundup of some of what Bill’s fans are saying on Twitter about the ouster, which they variously blame on “libtards,” communists, Jews, George Soros, Barack Obama, the Saudis, and of course the “leftist whores” and “sluts” and “lying bitches” who accused Mr. O’Reilly of sexual harassment in the first place.

If you look closely at the tweets below, you may notice a cameo appearance by the former host of Love Connection.

My favorite part is all the men who say a they already didn’t watch Fox threatening to not watch extra double hard.

My favorite part was “I’m not even a freq viewer but we know u r lying”.

He doesn’t even watch it, but “we” know they’re lying.

This seems to be a common thread amongst the right nowadays. “I reject your reality, and subsitute my own!”

They’re like dudes who RP as shitty bigot wizards.

I suppose that gives him more time to “write” more of his Killing books. I’m looking forward to Killing Garfield: No, Not The Orange Cat We All Hate, That Obscure President We Barely Remember.

[consumers] complained to advertisers and threatened boycotts, advertisers asked that their ads air at a different time on FOX (despite the narrative presented they didn’t really pull most ads), FOX fired him.

So as a result of him becoming a human being who was just too awful to be economical to keep, Fox fired him, is that what you’re saying? That the ultimate cause of his firing was his awfulness? I feel like someone else was saying that earlier.

So no. Him being fired really wasn’t because he’s an awful human being. Not directly.

Put the goalposts back where you found em, cupcake.

@Pie and James,

I’m not really sure why you two are arguing. You seem to be saying much the same thing.

Just out of idle curiosity, why is there so much hate directed at Garfield the Cat? To the best of my knowledge Jim Davis hasn’t said anything as horrible as Scott Adams does on a regular basis, so why the hate?

Inquiring minds want to know.

So apparently, Fox News is paying O’Rilley “tens of millions” in a fucking severance package.

At least, that’s what CNN was saying. I only got to see the headline because I was at work.

Bill O’Reilly to leave Fox News with $25 million
http://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-bill-oreilly-payout-20170420-story,amp.html

Last summer, the Murdochs fired Roger Ailes, the architect and former chairman of Fox News, after women complained that they were subjected to a hostile workplace. Several women alleged that Ailes suggested they provide sexual favors in exchange for career advancement. Ailes received $40 million when he left Fox.

Big win for Left, Soros & Marxist NY Times.

Yes, the privately-owned $2.4 billion dollar media empire is massively Marxist.

Fox is wrong not to stand by O’Reilly he is INNOCENT the leftist has set him up to fall

Just the one leftist?

Please be careful FN hanging Bill O’Reilly out to COMMUNISTS aka Dems Media Matters George Soros Clintons Obama

If I had a dollar for every Republican who complains about communism without any understanding of what it is, I’d be a 0.1%er.

@nytimes I will never watch fox news again. I love Bill
O’reilly. Those sluts did not get harrassed for Sex

1) Why are you saying this in response to an unrelated New York Times article? 2) THOSE SLUTS DID NOT GET HARASSED FOR SEX

I’m so done with the new SJW network known as @FoxNews

Fucking Fox News are SJWs now? Do Republicans just not believe in words having meanings or something?

If the FOX BOARD fires O’Reilly, it is proof that we are losing the country to the FASCIST LIBERAL LEFT-WING FORCES!

ALL IDEOLOGIES I DON’T LIKE ARE THE SAME!

Bill O’Reilly MADE Fox news; he was a consummate intellectual, a leader in journalism that was truly “fair & balanced”.

How far gone do you have to be to think Bill O’Reilly is any of those things?

Nice!

And . . .

Fox is wrong not to stand by O’Reilly he is INNOCENT the leftist has set him up to fall

Just the one leftist?

. . . yes. Yes, it is just the one (unnamed) leftist. That’s how powerful a leftist is. Imagine if leftists formed groups!

In related news most punctuation with the possibly sole exception of the apostrophe is a leftist scheme and must be shunned

So as a result of him becoming a human being who was just too awful to be economical to keep, Fox fired him, is that what you’re saying? That the ultimate cause of his firing was his awfulness?

No, I am saying him being unprofitable and him being awful were not directly connected. That the ultimate cause of his firing was not his personality, because regardless of why consumers complained to advertisers the results would be the same. That Bill being awful are the reason he got the job, not the reason he lost it.

Use semantics and sarcasm all you want, it doesn’t change reality.

Bill has been an awful person forever, and that wasn’t a secret. If you want to talk about the origins of the firing, you should give credit to the New York Times instead. They’re the ones who ran the news story that got people to threaten advertisers.

Whatever, a chain of events happened. We can agree to disagree about what link was the most important. Have a peace-offering Pepsi.

From what little I understand, Garfield gets hate partly for oversaturation, partly for becoming repetitive and profoundly mediocre over time and yet continuing ad infinitum, partly for crowding out the field like a lot of zombified newspaper comics, and partly for Jim Davis openly admitting that his main goal in creating the comic was to make money. It seems like general irritation run through the magnifying force of the internet into hate.

Not really a hate I share. I still remember enjoying the first sixteen years of the comic as a child, I still crack a smile over stuff after that, and Jim Davis hasn’t gotten involved in politics (…god I hope I’m not wrong about that), and seems to be a surprisingly good sport about the comic. I still remember that whole Garfield Minus Garfield thing. It was at least partly an indictment of how uninteresting Garfield had become, but Davis loved it, and not only let the creator make a book with the remixed strips, he even wrote the foreword and contributed some strips, himself.

Yeah, personally, not a big Garfield hater myself. But it’s like the Nickelback of the funny pages: a one-trick manufactured pony meant for mass consumption. Give me Far Side, Bizarro, FoxTrot or Calvin and Hobbes any day.

Redsilk brought up Scott Adams and that brings up a rather personal tale of who I was growing up. I was pretty plugged into the tech world growing up in the 90s. My father was an electrical engineer, my stepfather was a software analyst and I had my sights on engineering myself. Reading a comic strip about the follies of an engineer like Dilbert was huge for 10-year-old kid with those aspirations. I own like the first 10 books of Dilbert and I even had my own Dogbert plush that sat on top of our family’s monitor.

Reading some of the other books Adams released (like Dogbert’s Management Guide), I always got the sense that Adams was the kind of insufferable jackass that thought he was the smartest guy in the room, but then to find out he was peddling the nonsense he has… it’s just another disappointment.

it’s like the Nickelback

I’d spent years sort of defending Nickleback by referring to “they do have that one good song”. It was literally two days ago that it was pointed out to me that I was thinking of Stiltskin.

Re: getting bands wrong

Back in my roadie days I was lounging with some fellow crew. We did the usual “What you got on at the moment?” chat. One of our friends mentioned that later that week he was doing a secret gig for “that band, what they called, Skrewdriver”.

Screwdriver were (possibly are) a white power band. So the talk turned to “no wonder they’re trying to keep it secret” etc and word soon spread.

Cue a few days later when inoffensive shoe gazing band Swervedriver are wondering why there’s an anti facist picket outside the venue.
