David Futrelle: Inventor of communism and fascism, murderer of millions, unlucky at love?

FYI, watch out for gamma rays!

As a mildly internet-famous man, I get fan mail sometimes. Often in the form of drive-by blog comments that show up fairly regularly in the “pending” folder on my WordPress dashboard.

This morning I discovered a flattering little missive from someone calling himself RedPillGuard, who has many strong feelings about me, most of them loosely tied to my alleged status as a guy with a particular Greek letter attached to me.

David you are a gamma male, worse than an omega or beta. Not only do you have a female mindset, your kind embody the unflattering, backstabbing, evil, ruthless, greedy, cowardly, stubborn and manipulative qualities of women.

Not only do I have a “female mindset” but I’m also … like a woman?

Where they have Cleopatra you betas have Gamma Males like yourself.

I thought I was just a Gamma. Now I’m a Beta also? Greek is hard!

RedPillGuard follows up this expert distillation of my character by expressing the desire to see me raped in prison.

A lot of drive-by commenters would have left it at that. But RedPillGuard is just getting started. Turns out I’m responsible for several centuries worth of mass killings!

Pol Pot, Joseph Stalin, Khrushchev, Mao, Lenin, Robespierre, Hitler, Trotsky, Hugo Chavez,. You are the scum of this planet, in the last century your kind murdered over 100 million people on the planet, you created communism and this mess of cultural marxism today.

You can’t get laid so you channel your energy to focus on other sad activities.

Like genocide, apparently.

Women scorn you because you mirror back a woman‘s most unflattering traits, and no woman even wants you to be her beta because she knows if you had her child you would likely sell them to slavery on the black market or take them to somewhere they have a high probability of dying in.

Wat.

Sad you will not succeed.

Huh? Dude, I apparently murdered 100 million people before I was even born. I’d call that a pretty big success!

In a followup comment, RedPillGuard asks:

Why don’t you meet Roosh V in real life and see who has more confidence instead of passive-aggressively making jabs at him gamma male coward?

This is a somewhat ironic statement to be coming from an anonymous internet commenter.

At this point you may be wondering: aside from all the genocide and hypothetical child-selling, what is it exactly that defines the Gamma Male?

RedPillGuard links to an old post from Theodore “Vox Day” Beale, the racist fantasy author and self-styled pickup guru who came up with the Gamma classification, based on extensive research centered around his own posterior. According to Beale, there are four key characteristics of this imaginary personality type that he made up.

  1. Overly romantic (dramatic self-narrative)
  2. Conflict-avoidance (passive-aggressivene and plausible deniability)
  3. Delusion (exaggeration and posturing)
  4. Lack of success with women

I guess I am a bit conflict-averse, if you don’t count my intermittent political activism and most of my writing career. So that’s one out of four.

And now I have the theme song to the old Hulk cartoon show in my head. So let me, in my passive-aggressive way, put it in yours!

Apparently sometimes the aides manage to rein him in for a short while (like with that speech), so that’s probably what happened.

Damn, David, that was all you?! Dammit, I am glad to have you as our Cleopatra. Which means you rule over all of us. Almost like the leader of a wolfpack, according to a debunked theory. But also, you are a Gamma, which means you are far from being an alpha, and are desperate for female attention. This totally make sense.

Now, oh, holy queen whom I shall serve unquestionably, FETCH ME SOME BONBONS NOW YOU ZETA CUCK, if you please, madam.

Phryne says:

How are you both ruthless and cowardly? This makes no sense.

Sure it does. You’re ruthless if you don’t care about the consequences your actions have on others, and you’re cowardly if you won’t risk a single negative consequence toward yourself.

Wow, David. You’re either immortal or a time traveler! To think you were responsible for so many deaths over thousands of years.

If it was me, I just would have just left behind ancient graffiti/art like this:

Hugs, IP. That sounds stressful as hell. Well done on calling the asshole out though; it’s interesting to see that he reacted as violently as he did to even a very gentle contradiction.

Well, you know what they say: Lucky at ideological mismatching and genocidal practices, unlucky in love.

Wow, my sympathies.

[Rant incoming]

The whole “the real crime is that you labeled me a racist by countering some blatantly racist bullshit I said, thus implying that I may have some racist tendencies purely based on what I said, and that’s unfaaaaiiir” mindset is mindbogglingly transparent in how calculated it is to make it seem like the person’s free speech is under attack, and is one of the main reasons I detest the phrase ‘free speech’ these days.

I mean, nobody even called you ‘a’ racist, dude (although they would have certainly not been in the wrong for doing so). Somebody pointed out that some of the things you say are based on racist assumptions that have no basis in actual reality, which is NOT the same thing. In any case, it’s rather telling that you agree that “racist” is a bad thing, but “doing and saying racist things” is not.

Why are conservatives so thin-skinned that any criticism of what they say is immediately extrapolated to make it seem like an attack on their persona? Do all conservatives really hold the belief that “bad” and “good” are things people are, not what they do? Is that why conservatives are so big on capital punishment, and get really defensive when they sense that their status as “a good person” is being threatened? Because they think bad people deserve punishment and if they themselves are not good, i.e. bad, that means they deserve punishment as well, which is why they’d rather accuse the messenger of trying to make them look bad? Because by the rules set by them, punishment (not education and rehabilitation) is the way to deal with transgressions?

Rather than admit that they might have said or done something bad because they hold unexamined harmful beliefs that have been taught to them by society, they revert to the black-and-white belief system of people just being good or bad by simply choosing to be good or bad (ideas apparently just float around in the ether). It’s rather insidious in that it refuses to address any and all underlying social ideas and focuses purely on the individual, thus allowing the very same mindset to be propagated from generation to generation.

@ I.P.

him yelling about how black Americans are “savages” who simply won’t or can’t learn how to live normal human lives. He went on to rant about his blck co-workers who, according to him, are terrible at their jobs because black people just have no drive to improve and learn anything, and also no incentive because “special treatment”…

…implying that he might be a teensy bit racist. He threw a tantrum about being “instantly labelled racist” just because he has “a different opinion”

Yeesh…

(note, the following reeks of sarcasm) Yeah, calling people ignorant savages because they’re are not mittel-class-wite-anglo-saxon-protestants… that’s not bigotry, it’s just a “different opinion”… on the OTHER hand calling people who ARE mcwasps “privileged demagogues who rail at the thought of anyone questioning their obvious cultural superiority”… NOW THAT’S BIGOTRY

IP, all the sympathy!

My friend and I dropped off Husbeast’s nephew at the airport Tuesday night (she’s helping me with Catbeast’s sub-Q fluid treatments while Husbeast is on a business trip.)

What a relief! Nephew turned out to be a full-on, in-real-life troll once he got more comfortable around us. It was 2 1/2 weeks of heck! (He was on “best behavior” for the first part of the 5 week* visit.) He outright stated that he would resort to any means necessary to win an argument and was proud to say that he regularly did so to his two neuroatypical brothers.

*Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy? (Not my idea; it wasn’t even discussed with me because I would have balked at that, big time.)

@Anarchonist

Do all conservatives really hold the belief that “bad” and “good” are things people are, not what they do?

I think this may be part of the problem. It’s a model of thinking that’s not ONLY found among conservatives and reactionaries, but I think it might make one more likely to lean in that direction.

If you really look at the arguments they place in the mouths of their straw-men liberal stand-ins during arguments and debates, and assume that this is really what they’re actually hearing when liberals speak to them, it certainly sounds that way. Any criticism of the status quo – which they have been enjoying and which puts them on top – must be a criticism of them as people. Conversely, they seem to believe that the fact that they HAVE been historically a privileged and powerful class of people, implies that they are somehow intrinsically good and have earned that position of power (because the fact that white men of the past have accomplished things somehow has a transient property that makes all white men ‘good’).

Yes.

Also, the idea that there’s no meaningful distinction between fascism, totalitarian communism, and social democracy makes a lot more sense when you realize that conservatives believe that all liberals really want is to control other people. This article is a good example of that worldview:

This behaviour pisses me off to no bloody end! Along with assertions that, ‘you’re only calling me a racist/homophobe/transphobe/etc to shut me up’, no jackass, if I’m calling you racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc, it’s because you’ve made a god damn statement (or demonstrated behaviour) that shows you to be exactly what I’ve called you!

Dalillama: Irate Social Engineer

@Alan

Are you familiar with the John Lewis Partnership? That’s a shop (sort of) we have over here. Be interested in what you think of it.

I’m not really. Having looked into them a bit, it appears they’re a pretty poor excuse for a coop, on account of actual governance appears to still principally be in the hands of unelected capitalists*, which kind of defeats the purpose. I expect that like most ’employee owned’ companies here in the States, working conditions are better than most outfits, but that’s as far as I’ll commit myself to. Admittedly, they could be a lot better than that, but I’m not really seeing it. So, in brief, my opinion is similar to that on social democracy: It’s a damn sight better than other forms of capitalism, but that’s a low bar to clear.

*In this case meaning ‘holders of capital’, not ‘supporters of a capitalist system’.

@Sinkable John

Both systems share the idea that a chosen few are fit to rule all others, and that The Plebe ™ should never, ever, question the good will of the powerful. Maybe that’s got something to do with the aforementioned dumpster fires.

Yes, it has. Anytime your precept is ‘this small group of people are going to run everyone else’s lives for their own good’, it’s gonna be a trashfire. There’s no way around it.

@Ohlmann

@Dali : you can redefine socialism as basically communism, in which case, yes, there is no difference between them by definition. But that mostly show a misunderstanding, because social democracy is mostly a mix of actual socialism and liberalism, and is mostly linked to a bunch of governement that say that they are said, but they can’t do anything for thoses poor workers.

I specifically defined socialism, communism, and social democracy as three different things. Socialism is the behaviour characteristic of Socialist states. The Soviet Union, PRC, Cuba, etc. are/were Socialist states. They describe(d) themselves in official statements and documents as Socialists. The current Socialist party of France are not currently advocating for Socialist nor Communist policies, but rather Social Democratic ones: they’re not suggesting nationalizing French industry, nor dispossessing the owning class and redistributing wealth among the populace; they’re suggesting capitalism with better social safety nets and comprehensive infrastructure.
