Last month, Reddit admins shut down three subreddits catering to the internet Nazi phenomenon known as the alt right. Not because these subreddits were filled with vile bigotry and hate speech — though they were of course filled with that — but because Reddit’s alt-righties had repeatedly violated the site’s rules against doxxing, according to Reddit’s statement announcing the ban.
But don’t worry, folks! The refugees from these banned subreddits haven’t been forced to leave Reddit for more bigoted pastures, for as it turns out Reddit is chock-full of subreddits big and small where their brand of bigotry is welcomed with open arms and perhaps even a few “Roman salutes.”
One of these places is the Men Going Their Own Way subreddit. While Reddit’s MGTOWs have long been known for their ridiculously over-the-top outbursts of misogyny, many of them are now adding vicious racism and anti-Semitism to the mix. Indeed, some discussions in the subreddit now are basically indistinguishable from the discussions you might have found in the now-banned alt-right subreddits.
Here are some of the, er, highlights of a discussion today in the MGTOW subreddit with the title “Feminists & Refugees Turned Sweden Into GHETTO.”
At this point anyone playing alt-right bingo has probably scored bingoes on all of their cards.
The discussion continues:
So has the MGTOW subreddit simply been overrun with Redditors from the now-banned alt-right subreddits? That’s probably part of the story. But the more disturbing takeaway is that many of Reddit’s lady-hating MGTOWs are turning to the more comprehensive bigotry of the alt-right.
That’s not just a hypothesis on my part; they’re stating this explicitly.
Hell, some just can’t shut up about it.
But don’t worry, Reddit’s MGTOWs haven’t forgotten their roots. And by “their roots” I mean their absurd misogyny. Like many Men’s Rights Activists, MGTOWs love to demonize Sweden as a hotbed of evil feminism and “gynocentrism.”
And so, naturally, some of Reddit’s MGTOWs hope the whole thing ends with Swedish women suffering for their excessively feminist refugee-welcoming ways.
Some look forward not only to female suffering but actual death:
ETKDoom is the sort of immigrant we need to be “extreme vetting.”
All this would be a good deal more amusing if America’s so-called president weren’t himself echoing the alt-right nonsense about Sweden. We’re definitely in the darkest timeline.

MGTOWs (and MRAs) are regularly recruited (which is now called ‘redpilled’ because I guess they admit it was all about manipulation now!) into the alt-right, if what I’ve seen on reddit is to be believed.
Despite how much Migtoes consider themselves free of eeeeeeeevil temptation, they were seduced by the dark side remarkably easy.
All this barely literate jibberjabbering isn’t exactly making me confident that these bozos are some kind of Master Race™.
Also, COOL STORY, “COLUPHID”. Yeah, it’s so convenient how you just all of a sudden flipped from left to hard right because of “censorship” (which didn’t happen) and a supposed Muslim takeover of Europe (which isn’t happening either). As someone who skews left-libertarian on every single one of those political orientation quizzes (somewhere between Democratic Socialist, Anarcho-Communist and Libertarian Socialist) and haven’t flipped to full Nazi over anything yet, I call bullshit.
This sounds like the title to a terrifying choose your own adventure book.
this is just not true.
Isn’t it cute how MGTOW are perfectly fine with white men moving to Asia to search for a submissive bride who hasn’t been tainted by evil western feminism but Middle Eastern or African men moving to a white country? The horror!
It’s also cute how they never know the slightest thing about history at all. Yes. Recent immigrants are often poor and live in poor neighborhoods. That doesn’t have anything to do with innate criminality or inferiority of black or brown. There was a time in the US when Irish, German, Polish, Italian, Ukrainian or Russian neighborhoods were “ghetto.” Isn’t this middle school level history? It’s almost like when someone comes to a new country without much money, no connections and an education from a different country’s school system and then they’re faced with hatred from the locals, it’s pretty damn hard to magically become an affluent suburbanite within a couple years! Shocking, isn’t it?
I hope my paragraphs are coherent. I’ve had a couple glasses of wine!
@weirwoodtreehugger: chief manatee
It’s almost like they only care if they aren’t having a monopoly on globalizing their penises. /rolls eyes because they probably can’t even comprehend the idea of Asian women that aren’t attractive/attracted to them.
You seem pretty coherent to me : D
this isn’t surprising. once you’ve written off every woman as less-than, doing it to other not-you groups is probably pretty easy.
@brian
Indeed. It’s akin to ‘crank magnetism’, where believing one conspiracy theory often leads to believing more. Or rather, it’s the same thing; bigotry pretty much is a conspiracy theory, or collectionmof them, and as I’ve noted elsewhere, conspiracy theories in the West are basically all rooted in bigotry.
I doubt that means twice. Over under 20 since Inauguration Day?
Katja?
This is my surprised face -_-
Semi-OT, just need to vent. Watched about half of JonTron’s recent Q&A video on Youtube, hoping against hope that him appearing in a Sargon podcast was a fluke. Nope. I don’t have the heart to watch the video again, but his answer to the question of “what made you finally come out against the sjws?” involved something along the lines of “I didn’t want to get involved in political discussions, but it seems inescapable, so I came down on the side of logic and reason.”
In retrospect, I was probably ignoring the signs during the whole GamerGate debacle, and when he decided that the Fallacy of Relative Privation was the right response to criticism over his using the word “retarded.” Disheartening nonetheless.
Okay, that’s off my chest. Gonna listen to Jon Stewart for a bit so white New York accents aren’t completely ruined for me.
I love Sweden. Stockholm is one of my favourite cities in the world. But there’s a fly in the ointment, the way there always is: the Swedes like to serve shrimps with just about everything.
Now, let me ask you: if “The Jews” were really in control of Sweden, would that be the case? Obviously not.
I like that it is now the Swedish jews who are the big problem. Presumably jews in other countries, and the whole worldwide conspiracy folk just haven’t been pulling their weight recently?
@LeftWingFox
Total agreement. I have to be a bit careful what I write here as I am at work and posting under my real name, but…
I’ve become increasingly concerned recently how often – in the last few weeks – I’ve heard young, white, middle-class male students referring to ‘Jews’, ‘feminists’, ‘triggering’, etc in derogatory terms. Racist language from ignorant teenagers is nothing new – echoing parents, often – but the language they’re using now is echoing the worst aspects of the internet.
It’s not every student, it’s not even two percent. But it used to be a lot less, and it used to be different.
Anecdotally, I have noticed that conspiracy theories like the Illuminati – which used to be quite fringe among our kids – have become mainstream since ‘the young’ all started having mobile phones that are better than my computer. (I alluded to this yesterday in another thread).
We had a lot of training about the PREVENT* strategy, and I’m afraid I can’t comment about THAT in this forum, for various reasons, other than to say that to be fair, it did cover some right-wing extremism as well – but of the old-school, skinhead variety. And my personal experience makes me think that I’m not sure that’s the right focus, at least not entirely.
*Controversial UK anti-radicalisation policy.
Wrong again; there are loads of women’s travel agencies.
https://www.gooverseas.com/company-news/women-founded-companies-chainging-the-way-we-travel
Hello.
I am sorry to ask, but what does “Eurostan” stand for ? I tried to look for this term on the net, but only find travel agencies with this name.
Oh well, is the MGTOW going far right not a horrendous variation of intersectionality, by trying to include as many discriminative points in their rant as they can ? Bingo, indeed.
Damn, their rants all come to look like some kind of weird dystopian sci-fi fantasmagory (and of course a good pat in the back of those who think alike).
Have a nice day.
@occasional reader
“Eurostan”, I imagine, is what the Nazis and Nazi-enablers claim Europe is being turned into by “Muslim rapefugees”. Under the command of the (((elites))), of course, because the alt-right simply can’t imagine a brown person holding coherent thoughts for more than ten minutes, let alone coming up with a strategy for “white genocide”.
So basically it means “scary foreigners raping the women that we white men should be raping instead”.
> Zemyla
Ok, thank you for the explanation. But why “-stan” ? Is the -stan suffix connoted to something ? I have never heard of something like ameristan or rustan.
Occasional Reader, I think “Eurostan” is bigot speak for “European countries being “taken over” by people from countries ending with -stan”.
I shake my head over the logical inconsistencies these people spew without a trace of irony. As someone has already pointed out, it’s fine for them to travel to Asian countries in search of wives they assume will be submissive, but there is wailing and gnashing of teeth at the idea of Islamic men coming to European countries and dating white women.
There is also their ongoing insistence that women all want “alpha” men…and prefer to have sex with immigrants rather than them. When your bigoted caricature of Islamic immigrants is more attractive to women than you are, you are about as desirable as a yeast infection.
@OccasionalReader
Melanie Phillips, a hack for the Daily Mail and other traditionally right-wing UK newspapers, wrote a book called ‘Londonistan: How Britain is Creating a Terror State Within’. Which I haven’t read, (because the times I’ve accidentally caught her columns in the paper have been bad enough, and I’m not going to inflict a whole book of hers on my poor eyes) but is essentially her perennial theme of ‘muslims are bad’. It shows how certain elements of the right-wing like to use the suffix -stan to shorthand their anti-Islam rhetoric.
@Occasional Reader
I don’t think I’ve come across eurostan before, but it is basically the same as “eurabia”, which has clearer connotations. The “-stan” suffix is from persian, apparently. I had vaguely assumed it was arabic, but there you go. See: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-stan#English
It has connotations of “third world hellhole filled with violent brown fanatics” (cf. afghanistan). Have you heard of the Bantustans, by the way? Older usage, but possibly where the use of -stan as a disparaging term came from.
Re: Londonistan
Wikipedia gives an origin in the 90s by the French Secret Service and that’s that’s the one you see picked up in right wing media.
The term was however in use at least as early as the 70s in a non-pejorative way as a nickname for areas of London popular with wealthy people from the Middle East, like Edgeware Road. There’s even a reference to it in “Yes, minister”.
I want to laugh at how these neo-Nazis who have never been to Sweden have created a caricature of it that doesn’t look remotely like the pretty cool country where I was born, but this stuff makes me angry. I’m sick of how they depict Muslim immigrants, the vast majority of whom are decent and law-abiding people, as some sort of alien swarm of locusts. And speaking as a white woman, I’m sick of how these assholes pretend to care about my welfare, when really they just use me as a justification for spewing racism.
But at least the MGTOWs are now showing their true racist and anti-Semitic colours. That’s really going to help them become mainstream.
Because Bernie Sanders didn’t exist three years ago, this hypothetical can never be tested. Trufax!
So Sweden…
AFAICT it’s basically a good place – fairly tolerant, inclusive and supportive with good equality levels.
Does the thought process go something like:
– People claim Sweden is a nice place where people get along.
– People don’t get along because they hate each other really.
– Therefore, it’s all a lie.
– Therefore, they must be lying to cover up THE TRUTH.
–
?
Which is why I chose to move to the US from Australia and chose to move back some years later. Because I have no agency.
Wait, no. The opposite.
(And before any trolls jump in with “If you’re not as piss-scared of the spooky scary brown people as we alt-right ninnies are, why did you leave,” the answer is I couldn’t afford your nonexistent health care.)
