So I’m still all flu-ed up, but I thought I would share one amazing internet thingy that’s cheered me up a bit: It’s called edges2cats, and it transforms your drawings of cats into photorealistic-looking cats.
Well, that’s what it does if your drawings are actually in the shape of a real cat. If you doodle something that’s only vaguely catlike you get a vaguely catlike creature that is equal parts adorable and terrifying.
So naturally I’ve been making a lot of these sort-of cats.
If you check out the hashtag #edges2cats on Twitter you can find some even more horrific-yet-endearing results.

Other versions of the applet make building facades, purses and shoes, if you’re into that.
Post your own here!

@John
I’m failing to see how this is a bad thing.
Sinkable John and Axe – Sorry to have mixed up your comments! I had a not so good day with Catbeast yesterday and didn’t spend much time here.
Things got better in the evening, though. I’d given him an appetite stimulant from the vet on Saturday which gave him none of the primary effect and all of the bad side effects. We also had to give him pain meds at night which make him groggy. All of that wore off last night and I could finally see the effects of the CBDs, which are doing him a world of good.
tl;dr – Less pain, more alert, and EATING ON HIS OWN!!
Right, I wasn’t exactly clear. I meant “left” in the very broad sense, the one that includes liberals – basically, the left side of the installed political spectrum. And no, there’s no problem there. To be fair at this point I don’t even care how they’re dealt with, they just have to go.
@Anne Lewis
Nope :p
Another hint : very large land reforms.
@John
Nah, you were perfectly clear 🙂
I didn’t… I mean yeah, that was totally intentional and deliberate and planned. Yup. BEHOLD THE MASTER OF PUNS.
By the way that’s why I’m all for purity, to be fair. Though rather as a goal to work toward with what you have on hand, rather than as an “all or nothing” tantrum, so Berniebros fuck off, you ain’t pure enough by my standards anyway.
But as far as I’m concerned, a capitalist on the left is just as weird as a transgender rights advocate on the right. It’s not as bad though, it’s much worse, because I’d rather keep the inconsistent idiots on the other side of the barricade. Also those who originally side with the right probably belong there anyway, regardless of their chosen “socially liberal” issue, while there are a lot on the left who are way too right-leaning to belong where they pretend to be.
But then again I also believe that an authoritarian leader is acceptable as long as they’re only going to use their undemocratically acquired position to fix the system in a democratic direction and then step down and host real elections. And if they don’t, which is usually the case with autocrats, then another coup is needed – call it accountable dictatorship (there’s already “benevolent dictatorships”, so why the fuck not).
Of course, History and statistics, while not completely disagreeing with me, say it’s pretty unrealistic to expect that. But I can dream. The way I see it, all it would require to guarantee that accountability is a level playing field (not attainable with capitalism) and a population that is intellectually trained to spot and stop oppressors (also not attainable due to capitalism, though thankfully there’s a lot of flukes). Yeah, there’s a loop there somewhere.
Point is : what the hell do I know, I’m just a pansy ass pinko who believes Humanity can be great one day. Probably just deluded about how much good there is in most people.
@John
Yes. Yes, you are. Most people are some varying degree of Ain’t Shit. Some are fascist, bigoted, Trumpist, LePenist, etc, super Ain’t Shit. Some are, well… me. Still, people are generally no good, cos the world in which we live is no good. By the same token, people are getting better, cos the world is getting better. Not fast enough, but it’s happening
Point is, decent people are made, but they aren’t usually transformed. Ain’t Shit people can’t be fixed or saved. You can neither argue nor empathize them into decency. You brought up having these people “dealt with”. The 1st step is admitting that these people are a problem, and dealing with them. I’m talking like Reconstruction shoulda done. Reject, contain, and depower em. Suppress em til they’re no longer a threat. Til the only way is forward, and the arguments are about how fast and which route? And if that sounds authoritarian, I really don’t much care
@Axe
That’s the ideal way I’d like it done. But if they cling to power too much, I wouldn’t give a side-eye to a firing squad either. And right now they’re pretty fucking clingy so it’s not making it any easier to depower them. That might be ruthless thinking and I try to avoid that as much as possible, but there’s kind of a whole world at stake here so fuck it.
Now I do believe that people can radically change, but it’s extremely rare, and can happen in both directions too. I won’t expect it of our dear leaders, though they’re welcome to prove me wrong, and they’re gonna have to step down to prove it’s not just for show. The hope I have is more in the people at large, in society teaching itself how not to be a fucking asshole. But I admit, there seemed to be some slow progress but that was before… whatever the fuck is going on now. One thing’s for sure : if it’s gonna take generations like it usually does, our species is fucked.
@John
*speaks solemnly* The problem with firing squads is they get blood everywhere. Some things, ya just can’t wash out, ya know?
Son, if you was looking for easy, you joined the wrong movement
Well I obviously didn’t choose the right one.

@Sinkable John : Pansy Ass Pinko, Regicidal Beast-of-Burden
We have a majority political party who actively denies climate change that was verified by 98% of all Climate Scientists, the rest have coal and oil stains on their papers. I’d say for alot of places they’re perma fucked and on borrowed time.
If you’ve looked at every single civil movement in the US, you’d know it was never easy to begin with. “Wheel of ScapeGoat: Choose which minority to oppress most!” Spoiler it’s all of them. Double spoiler you already which groups had the worst of it by timeline.
@Axecalibur: Middle Name Danger
Eh if it’s nazis and other flavors of bigot I wouldn’t necessarily call it authoritarian. At that point it’s social vaccination/containment from groups who literally want nothing else than all of us dead/enslaved/enslaved in undeath. Last time I checked we weren’t the group who does this sort of thing.

This is our opposition. This is what blogs of “neutrals” claim to say we’re just as bad. I have no sympathy for those fucks. Especially those who naively/smugly make insipid platitudes of unity. “Two wings of the same bird” “We are all American” “You are being hysterical” What type of fantasy land are they living in?
@Oogly
Nah, you got it all wrong. It’s the snowflake minorities that live in a fantasy land where they’re oppressed. Logic ™ says that the mentally ill might feel oppressed but it’s just because they’re mentally ill, right ? Therefore they’re not oppressed, and anyone else who says they themselves are oppressed must be mentally ill too.
WHY WON’T YOU BE RATIONAL
