Edges2cats web app turns your catlike doodles into realistic cats … or horrible monstrosities

Well, it’s sort of a cat

So I’m still all flu-ed up, but I thought I would share one amazing internet thingy that’s cheered me up a bit: It’s called edges2cats, and it transforms your drawings of cats into photorealistic-looking cats.

Well, that’s what it does if your drawings are actually in the shape of a real cat. If you doodle something that’s only vaguely catlike you get a vaguely catlike creature that is equal parts adorable and terrifying.

So naturally I’ve been making a lot of these sort-of cats.

If you check out the hashtag #edges2cats on Twitter you can find some even more horrific-yet-endearing results.

Other versions of the applet make building facades, purses and shoes, if you’re into that.

Post your own here!

Okay mammothers:

I’m clearly missing something because I can’t for the life of me figure out where you can actually use edges2cats. Hopefully someone is reading this and can help me because for some reason I won’t be able to rest until I’ve tried it.

When I click on the link at the top of this article, all I get is a page describing the thing with no sign of the actual thing.

Help!

Yeah I wanted Ellison as well. At the very least Tom Perez isn’t going to go “Hm we are unanimous in Opposing Trump, let’s try reaching across the aisle. Nothing could possibly go wrong : D”

Oh, even if Perez wasn’t a True Progressive(tm), and he is, he hates the Republicans almost as much as they hate him. I’ll take genuine animosity over ‘purity’ any day

@ William Butthurt Yeats

I was a bit confused at first, too. Hit the ‘clear’ button on the sample image on the edges2cats page, and you will have a blank square to doodle upon.

… Okay, is the tiny waystation watchtower thing supposed to have three suicide bomber mutants in it, and if so is it possible to escape, or did I just lose half an hour to my first game-breaking glitch?

Hot damn the drama these days ! Schadenfreude news all over.

Now Spencer got ditched by CPAC too. Cue freeze peaches, of course. CW for real odious shit spewed by him.

Funny how the right’s eating itself now. Almost as if they’d always hated each other nearly as much as they hate everyone else.

weirwoodtreehugger: chief manatee

It’s weird that the right just scored a major electoral victory and should be happy about it. But they just seem to hate so reflexively, it always spreads to each other. It can’t be contained. You expect infighting after a big loss, but it seems like even though there’s infighting in the left right now, there’s a lot more on the right. A couple of months of media scrutiny on their Dear Leader and they’re already in full on meltdown mode.

I hope the Dems can capitalize on this but I’m not holding my breath.

I’d say faction infighting, but honestly I can’t be arsed to divine fascist, not as fascist, and fascist for blah de bloo.

It actually turned out that the problem was my browser. It doesn’t work in Safari.

By which is meant usefulness in maintaining an environment that benefits us, correct?

Human and all other animals and plants. We kinda all live here and we’re the only beings that can, you know, fix the stuff we broke.

I mean, animals go extinct and stuff, it’s the natural order of things, but we’re kinda killing off animals way, way faster than they should and it’ll screw all of us down the line. We need to take care of as many animals as possible but we need to also not put millions and millions and millions of dollars into breeding just one animal while hundreds of others, lesser known and in much more dire straits should be getting just as good of care.

(At the very least, the government shouldn’t be paying millions of dollars to rent pandas when that money could be going to actual ecological works and, like, helping people in general. “Sorry, Timmy, you’ve got a broken desk and 20 years out of date textbook because the government decided to spend $75 million dollars in renting pandas. Pandas are the future after all.”)

I guess at the very least they kept that one bamboo forest protected until that earthquake hit it back in ’08/09 when a shit ton of it got fucked up. And I guess since that’s protected it’s also protecting the red panda, snow leopard, and clouded leopard that live there, too. Not sure if the type of bamboo or any plant life there needs protection either since it’s really been all about the animals but I know bamboo is a delicious and quick growing grass so we don’t need to worry about it in general going extinct…I don’t think.

Although the only reason the forest is around is because of the panda, and they literally are still only spending millions of dollars on pandas, not spending it on snow or clouded leopards. I guess if they ever give up the giant panda they’d go straight for the red panda since that’s pretty well-loved too, although not as well-loved as the panda.

But, like, still, fuck pandas.

If it’s already being spent on ecology, I think it should stay there. But, yeah, renting pandas is bleh

Meet the 16-year-old Canadian girl who took down Milo Yiannopoulos

Many critics have tried and failed to take Yiannopoulos down, from feminists to other liberals who despise his bigoted messages. But those efforts only buoyed his appeal among his fan base on the far right, rocketing his profile among movements like the alt-right, a far-right fringe movement that spouts white nationalist ideals and opposes social liberalism. But this 16-year-old helped take Yiannopoulos down by managing to get not just the left angry at him, but the right as well.

Worst yet, if one of teh articles I posted is true–because it’s pretty speculative–China is trading pandas for resources and shit from other countries in order to get onto their good side for possible economic purposes.

Let the beasts die with dignity instead of treating them like fucking currency.

“This was the first swing election in the country since the inauguration. It was the first chance for voters to rise up with one voice to say we’re bigger than the bullies,” Hansen said during her victory speech at the Odessa Fire Company. “It was the first chance for voters to declare with one loud voice that we’re better than the politics of fear and division. What we accomplished together will have implications for our entire state and country, and I think tonight they’re hearing us loud and clear in all corners of this country – and certainly in D.C. and in Dover.”

Stephanie Hansen, Democrat
7,314 Votes, 58.13%

John Marino, Republican
5,127 Votes, 40.75%

Joseph D Lanzendorfer, Libertarian
139 Votes, 1.12%

The fact that she had an overwhelming victory helps to ease worries.

Literally the most Chinese (government) thing I’ve ever heard of in my life

@Oogly

The fact that she had an overwhelming victory helps to ease worries

Keep in mind, “overwhelming” here amounts to 2200 votes. Turnout was ~35%, particularly high for this kinda race. Far downticket races, special elections no less, are won by hundreds of votes. Dems have new leadership and an antsy base. Up and at em!

@Handsome Jack, that girl is a damn hero. Good on her for taking action. I do hope that, as she gets older, she realizes that these views:

She defines herself as “very socially liberal,” but leans right on economics and foreign policy.

Are pretty much incompatible.

EJ (Marxist Jazz Weasel)

@Viscaria:
I think it depends how you define “very socially liberal.” There’s lots of people who believe in the free market and also believe that trans women are women and that gay people should be able to marry.

@Jack:
Thanks for that link. I am enjoying it enormously. (Schadenfreude? Who, me?)

EJ (Marxist Jazz Weasel)

@Dalillama:
Greta Christina is amazing.

I agree that it’s incompatible. I don’t think we disagree on what we’re saying here. Lots of people hold incompatible views; and that means that lots of privileged White people who would otherwise hold regressive views, have ended up being in favour of gay marriage and trans rights. Surely that’s not a bad thing?

Handsome :Punkle Stan: Jack

@EJ

In a way, it accounts for something, in a small, small way but their views still disproportionally hurt PoC, disabled and queer people.

I mean, “Yay, I can marry whoever I want. Hopefully I don’t die because I couldn’t afford medicine before I get to tie the knot. Thanks socially liberal but fiscally conservatives! You sure know how to inadvertently screw me over while still saying you support me.”
