So I’m still all flu-ed up, but I thought I would share one amazing internet thingy that’s cheered me up a bit: It’s called edges2cats, and it transforms your drawings of cats into photorealistic-looking cats.
Well, that’s what it does if your drawings are actually in the shape of a real cat. If you doodle something that’s only vaguely catlike you get a vaguely catlike creature that is equal parts adorable and terrifying.
So naturally I’ve been making a lot of these sort-of cats.
If you check out the hashtag #edges2cats on Twitter you can find some even more horrific-yet-endearing results.

OH DEAR GOD!!! That multi-eyed kitty will haunt my dreams. A lot of these remind me of videogame glitches like when a game decides the model of a horse needs the skin of a human and so on.
That’s all deeply unsettling. I wonder why vaguely catty shapes turn out to be more disturbing than other shapes. I expect it’s my expectation that it will be cute.

Slightly disappointed that the software can’t attempt to recognize tongues–meaning it can’t make horrible mistakes with tongues in the wrong places like that too-many-eyed cat.

Well, those were the most entertaining yet disturbing five minutes of my life. Worth it even if I never find rest again.
In other news, I finished Dishonored 2, and it must’ve been my most exciting gaming week ever. This first playthrough was a no killing/total stealth run, playing as Emily with powers on. It was… damn it was friggin awesome. I thought the first game was amazing, but this is something else. It’s a goddamn masterpiece and if anyone dares say otherwise I’ll duel them with pistols at dawn.
The only bad thing I can say about it is that in a whole week, I haven’t once found a single thing to get my nasty sarcastic criticism going. That says A LOT. It’s still a genuine flaw in and of itself as far as I’m concerned though. I need the snark.
Yeesh. I’d categorize this with the nightmare fuel.
