#ResistTrump by calling Repubs who could change their vote on DeVos NOW

Stop this woman!

So the Betsy DeVos vote could be imminent, and it looks like we have a chance to block her. Here are the critical Repubs to call to try to switch their votes to “nos.” Call if these are your Senators, maybe even call if they aren’t (but in the latter case don’t lie about it).

Check the Indivisible Twitter feed for updates, more phone #’s, etc.

Collins is a goodun. Well, she’s not, but she’s consistently the best person in the Fascist Party…

I congratulated my senator for opposing Devos as much as she could and the other one is currently busy opposing Neil Gorsuch. Overall I feel like we’re making a difference

*deep breath* OK…

Mark Warner D-Virginia
Heidi Heitkamp D-North Dakota
Joe Manchin III D-West Virgina
Angus King I-Maine

These are the only people in the Dem Caucus to vote ‘yes’ on every single Cabinet appointment so far. I’ll remember those names ?

Does any remember that scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone where the Dursleys are eating breakfast, only for them to hear a rumbling sound, whereafter a massive avalanche of letters comes barraging down their chimney and floods their house? That, I expect, is what it must be like for American representatives, and indeed a good number of politicians across the western world, right now…

Called King and Collins earlier today. I’m glad Susan Collins is finally walking the walk, at least for DeVos. She’s bad news for states with a large rural population.

So, I fell asleep for 45 minutes, woke up, and discovered that Trump threatened to invade Mexico and then hung up on the Australian PM; he’s proposing to change a counterterrorism program to focus exclusively on “radical Islam” and ignore white supremacist groups; Americans living abroad for > 3 years must pass a “True Patriot Test” to be admitted back into the country; and it’s now legal to kill pedestrians with your car in North Dakota.

I can’t even fucking nap anymore.

@Buttercup,
Either I missed a lot of stuff while at work, or that was serious snark.
Please let it be snark

Last I heard Collins and Murkowski had said they were going across the aisle to say no on DeVos. If they can get another one, that should be enough to stop any tiebreak Pence could cast.

Had to step back a bit. It was taking a toll on my psyche, and I know it did on my husbot. He had to call in to work today on a mental health basis because his brain was showing all the signs of hitting the wall it does when his neurotransmitters are fraying and overextended. Neither of us have much of a tolerance for stress, sadly, and we’re getting it in loads at the moment. :/

Apparently, Trump’s just acted like a giant shithead during phone calls to various other presidents and prime ministers, including – no, for some reason, especially – Malcolm Turnbull: http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/no-%E2%80%98g%E2%80%99day-mate%E2%80%99-on-call-with-australian-prime-minister-trump-badgers-and-brags/ar-AAmwrSW?li=AAavLaF&ocid=spartandhp. Perhaps Turnbull will feel more inclined to honour the request I mailed to him now?

Fuck to the fucking fuck. It’s a bit slanted (and I think the invading Mexico thing may be a piss take), but overall true. I am now officially scared for Americans who are not like me (cishet white male who can at least fake being religious).
I’m not scared for the rest of us yet, but the week is only half over.

@cheesynougats – No, not snark, unfortunately. I’m not sure what else you call it when the president offers to send U.S. troops into Mexico:

As Jon Stewart said last night, the presidency is supposed to age the president, not the public.
