So “Hamilton” has gotten pretty much unanimous praise from critics and those lucky (or rich) enough to score themselves tickets to it. Even Mike Pence, despite that thing that happened when he attended the show Friday night, declared on Fox News Sunday that “Hamilton’ is just an incredible production, incredibly talented people. It was a real joy to be there.”
The Trump-loving, Muslim-hating racist behind the blog Diversity Macht Frei begs to differ. As he sees it, Hamilton is basically an act of “white genocide” set to music. In Hamilton, you see, all the Founding Fathers are played by people of color, a deliberate choice by the show’s creator designed to make the cast “look … like America looks now.”
Well, Mr. Macht Frei is having none of it.
This entire spectacle is simply white genocide turned into entertainment. It retells American history with the roles historically played by European Americans instead performed by brown-skinned people of varied ancestry, the whole thing set to music of a style typically associated with those of African race. This is racial appropriation. One race is written out of history, replaced by another. Europeans are being asked to celebrate their own demise, their own effacament from America’s story.

Imagine if someone made a musical about Zulus and all the Zulus were played by Europeans, played to Mozart-like music. You can imagine the outrage that would provoke. But, somehow, when it happens to Europeans, this racial usurpation is OK? No, it’s not OK. In the age of Trump, maybe white people need to establish a new political correctness of their own.

It’s not as if a horde of white Harry Potter fans threw a fit when a black actress was chosen to play Hermione in a London theatrical production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child — even after JK Rowling declared that the complainers were racist “idiots” and that “Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.” Oh, wait.
It’s not as if the casting of Hamilton is a conscious response to this long tradition of whitewashing people of color out of history and culture.

Anyhoo, Mr. Macht Frei goes on to demand the inevitable phony boycott of this allegedly white-hating play.
We need people to picket, protest and boycott this so-called musical. There can be no place in modern America for racially inflammatory spectacles masquerading as entertainment. And don’t give me the argument that this is free speech. This isn’t free speech. It’s hate speech. And hate speech doesn’t cease to be hate speech just because it’s set to music. Especially when that style of music is rap*.
Now, Mr. Macht Frei follows up this post with a wry little “disclaimer” suggesting that maybe he’s just trolling, ha ha — which would presumably make his post a sort of parody of the things those evil SJWs say when they object to white people playing people of color.
But the point of his post, if we assume it’s meant seriously, is pretty much identical with the stated aim of his blog — “chronicling the Genocide of the European peoples, the greatest crime in all of history.” If that’s not meant as a joke — and there’s no indication that it is — then it’s pretty much impossible for me to believe that his Hamilton post was meant as a joke.
Tellingly, when The Daily Stormer’s Andrew Anglin reposted Diversity Macht Frei’s post on his site, he left off the disclaimer. And his commenters don’t seem to be in on any joke.

The white people who voted for Donald Dump probably deeply care about identity politics, that is, they only vote Republican, wouldn’t vote in a woman and probably don’t care about anyone else than white people.

I still believe in you because of your past record and you were a major influence on my political belief system, but please, for the love of all that is good, don’t do this. Keep the fight for the working class, but please all you need to do is keep support of minorities and stonewall Trump at every turn. It’s a very simple thing to do and I am pretty sure you won’t go against what you believed in for decades. I already have a ton of other people I used to look up to betray me by going the side of nazis, bigots, and sexists, don’t be another on that list.

My lead has been doing the holier-than-both-sides totally neutral on all things thing. Today he said he watched the Hamilton video and he can’t understand either side because the actor was nice and respectful and didn’t say anything controversial. He’s decided that both the left and right are equally angry about the Hamilton speech but he didn’t explain what he thought the left’s view was and I didn’t ask because I don’t feel like work is the place to discuss politics and much, much less so these days. Anyway, all I saw from the left were people pointing out the hypocrisy in Trump’s tweets about safe spaces and call to not ignore the bigger issues like the Trump U settlement. Nothing really full of hatred like the right was spewing.

Look. I’m white. Most of my ancestors came from North Europe (quite a few of them before 1800). There is that one Comanche guy who raped my great great grandmother during the last Native American raid in north Texas, but except for my shovel-shaped incisors and the fact that though I am very fair skinned, I tan well, you would never know that I was anything but a white lady whose ancestors all came from Northern Europe. I married a white man of German ancestry. I had two white children. I should be the apple of those discussed in the OP’s eyes.
I have never been anti-white. That would be silly. Well, to be fair, I am what some people call anti-white (you know, like, I don’t consider skin color of any particular importance in dealing with other people and don’t assume all white people are good and all dark people are bad) but I really never had much hatred for white people At least, not because they were white.
But, you know what? I’m starting to think that the best thing we can do for the world is to help the “destruction” of the white race along as quickly as possible. I realize this sounds harsh, but watching what I thought was a country actually getting better (not fixed yet, but slowly getting better) elect That Man to the presidency–the presidency once occupied by George Washington (yeah, I know, slave owner–but a slave owner that refused a kingship and left power after his second term, setting a rather important precedent) and Abraham Lincoln, and FDR. THAT presidency. To see what a mostly white group of people have considered president material in the second decade of the 21st century has shaken me to my very white core.
I am actually moderately serious here. When I was a kid in the South gas stations had three bathrooms: men, women, and colored. I’ve seen the changes and I really thought that with all its continuing faults our culture was getting better. Now I know that almost half of the people who voted in this election were either racist, sexist, homophobic and xenophobic assholes or the racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia of the Republican Party was not a deal-breaker for them. That depresses the hell out of me. White women voted for the fucker. How can they even… WHERE THE HELL DID ALL THE EVENS GO?!!?!!!
If that is the best the “whites” can do, vote for That Horrible Man, then maybe I’ll become anti-white.
So I get some satisfaction from knowing that the “destruction” of the “white” “race” was furthered successfully in my own family. on Bernie; I feel really bad for him. I mean, he’s not perfect, and his flaws are all laid bare right now. I wish I could spend a half hour with him explaining why he needs to talk about “identity politics” as well as economic outcomes.
This said – Bernie isn’t and never will be the perfect voice; this is probably the extent of his activism. Other voices need to rise up to tell the other parts of the story. I suspect that’s the only realistic way forward.

Off topic, but looking at how quite a lot of conservative people are reacting to the news as of late, apparently the rise in hate crimes are really false flag attacks by liberals, and calling people things like “bigot” and “deplorable” should be counted as hate crimes.

The sad thing is, the US political system favors conservatives in subtle ways, even if you ignore the gerrymandering and vote suppression in some states. The “perfect” liberal candidate could never be elected, aside from maybe as a representative of an extremely liberal district. The “perfect” conservative candidate actually has a shot.
Yeah, @Snowberry. Favouritism towards the status quo is a thing you get in pretty much every community, even ours. That said, there are a lot of pressures in the US government towards regression and conservativsm.
